MARCH 2015 DOWNTOWN EAST POINT Sickle Cell Race Moving to Downtown East Point! The Sickle Cell foundation of Georgia and the City of East Point are partnering to host the 36th Annual Sickle Cell Road Race/Walk in the great city of East Point. The race kicks off at Tri- Cities High School on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. The starting line will not be far from the East Point MARTA station. This year s host emcee will be News Reporter/Anchor Dave Huddleston of WSB-TV and former Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield will serve as honorary race chair. The Sickle Cell Road Race/Walk was founded in 1979 and is one of the oldest race events in metro-atlanta. The 7K run is the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Southern Regional 7K Championship and qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race. The proceeds from this Road Race/ Walk benefit the Sickle Cell Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization and supports programs such as Camp New Hope, a special needs summer camp for children with sickle cell and the teen leadership retreat, which assists 2015 Info Coming Soon!
