3 Responsible for the administration of 300,000 state required tests and over 500,000 teacher developed common assessments and district formative assessments Manage the districts Race to the Top (RttT) scope of work Collaborate with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in their effort to create a state-wide system of summative and formative assessments Zone Superintendent Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), Charlotte, NC July July 2011 Executive leader for the Northeast Learning Zone (NELZ), a geographic area with 37,000 students PreK-12 and 37 schools Educational Leadership Increased the End-of-Grade (EOG) test composite from 77.7 percent proficient to 78.3 percent proficient Increased Biology End-of-Course (EOC) test proficiency from 78.1 percent to 81.1 percent Increased Physical Science End-of-Course (EOC) test proficiency from from 72.2 percent to 75.9 percent Increased US History End-of-Course (EOC) test proficiency from 84.6 percent to 85.1 percent Achieved more than one year s worth of overall end-of-grade (EOG) growth as a zone Achieved one or more year s worth of growth in six out of seven end-of-course (EOC) tests: Algebra I (0.066), Biology (0.134), Civics and Economics (0.045), English I (0.094), Physical Science (0.540), US History (0.161) Achieved more than one year s worth of overall end-of-course (EOC) growth as a zone Implemented Managing for Performance and data utilization initiatives Developed a district-wide Teachscape proposal: A classroom walkthrough data collection tool used to enhance teaching and learning Developed a systemic document and tool to assist principals, assistant principals, teachers, parents, and others in understanding the importance of and amount of time allotted for various assessments Human Capital Leadership Implemented a leadership development program and succession plan to identify and train potential administrators Established and expanded strategic business partnerships in various Zone schools Increased partnerships with faith community that increased the number of mentors, tutors and volunteers Worked with the PTSA organizations in the Zone as well as other related civic and political groups ensuring open communication and transparency.
