Online catalog up and running within six weeks of hire. Collection Management Duties: Develop and maintain a system of library records providing access to the library s collections and databases. Oversee the ordering, cataloging, and classification of materials in all formats. Train librarians and staff to receive MARC records from OCLC via the z39.50 gateway. Download electronic records into the ILS. Train serials librarian and staff to create check-in records and online check-in cards for all serial materials. Develop Academic Success, Center for Professional Development, and Human Resources satellite collections. Move the entire collection and archive from the Morehead Street location to Suttle Avenue. RFID Project: RFID tag all physical volumes in collection. Sync tags with Millennium ILS. Train staff to conduct continuous inventory with RFID wand and to monitor circulation activities. Personnel Duties: Hire, direct, train, supervise, and evaluate library staff (4 full-time and 13 part-time staff members). Compile job scopes and write job descriptions: administer Charlotte School of Law personnel policies. Define expectations for staff performance: assist individuals in setting annual goals based on cascading ISOs of upper management. Train staff in continuous improvement techniques. Work as a team to resolve problems. Oversee the development of the Technical Services wiki. Sit on the consortium-wide Library Best Practices Committee and Millennium Best Practices Committee. Senior Library Training Consultant Consult with libraries globally on all aspects of library operation: circulation, cataloging, serials, acquisitions, interlibrary loan, electronic resources management, and Web OPAC design. Train libraries to implement and customize the Innovative Interfaces Integrated Library System to work in conjunction with their established practices and procedures. Test the functionality of the Millennium modules prior to training. Set up hardware as needed. Set eos, customer options, login manager settings, controlled behaviors and preferences, initials, authorizations, and World Wide Web Options. Create examples and customized handouts to use during training, Spend 2 to 4 days (8 hours per day) on site conducting hands-on training on each Innovative module. Consult with client to determine needed modifications/customizations to software. Install network/system printers and FTP software as needed. Resolve any hardware/software issues that arise during training. Follow up with customer regarding outstanding training issues or problems.
