2 Introduction Before you can access the Criminal Justice Social Work - Community of Practice (CoP) you need to register to SURFconext. SURFconext is the organization that provides the infrastructure for our CoP. This manual describes the steps in the subscription and registration process and explains how you can log in to the CoP. Part 1 - Subscription If you want to use the CoP please write an to secretariaatev@avans.nl in which you give your address (and/or those of colleagues or students who also want to use the CoP) and the module that you will be following. Due to the potentially large amount of users every module has its own CoP, next to the General CoP to which all the users have access (see figure 1). This means that you will receive an invitation to join the General CoP and a separate invitation for the CoP of the module that you will be following. You may request access to multiple module CoP s. Every participant has access to the General CoP and may request access to specific module CoP s. 2

3 Part 2 Registration After subscribing you will receive a separate invitation for every CoP to which you have requested access. At a minimum this will be an invitation for the General CoP and a specific module CoP. The way in which these invitations need to be accepted is described below. Every invitation needs to be accepted before you will be granted access. The invitation can be in your inbox or spam. The sender of the is SURFconext Teams. 3

4 Open the invitation and click on Login to accept this invitation. 4

5 You will be transferred to the following page. Select Onegini (Social ID). Use the search bar when it is not displayed at the top of the page. Onegini makes it possible to register with a Gmail account ( Because our CoP uses different Google applications this is the preferred way of registering. You will be asked for your permission to share your address with other users of the CoP. In case you do not want to share your personal or work related address, please make a new Gmail account for use on the CoP. 5

6 The page below will appear when you select Onegini. It is possible that the menu shows the logos of different types of accounts (e.g. Facebook and Twitter). Click on the Gmail logo. If you don t see the Gmail logo click on use a different account. 6

7 Next you will be asked for your username and password. If you are already logged in to Gmail you may choose the account with which you want to access the CoP. In this example we used Sammy Test. The page that appears (in this example in Dutch, but probably in another language if you are not in the Netherlands) asks if Onegini may use the profile information of your Gmail account. Click Accept. 7

8 On the following page you are required to enter your name and address. It is not necessary to fill out your mobile number. If you click on More info you will be given the choice to use a PIN code (see next page). However, using a PIN code to secure your Onegini profile is seen as less safe. 8

9 In this example we choose to use PIN. Click on I agree with the Terms of Use followed by Create. 9

10 Click on Yes, share this data on the next page that appears. Click on By joining this team I give permission to share my personal information followed by Accept. 10

11 This next screen shows all the users of the specific CoP to which you now have access. Please click on Logout to leave this page. 11

12 Onegini asks you to verify your address. Go to your inbox, open the Please verify your address and click the button Verify address. 12

13 You will be redirected to your personal Onegini dashboard. On this webpage ( you can change your personal settings. Please log out before leaving the website (see arrow). 13

14 Part 3 - Logging in To log in to the CoP please go to iavans.nl/guest/. The following page will appear. Select Onegini. Enter your Gmail username and password. Click Sign In. Click on the Gmail logo. 14

15 To access the CoP click on its name in the box called Collaboration. The page can be set to English by clicking on the globe in the upper right corner. Click on Sign Out when you leave the CoP. 15
