4 28 Section Two Course Transfer Agreements ADVANCED PLACEMENT The Advanced Placement Program (AP), sponsored by The College Board, offers advanced students the opportunity to take college-level courses while they are still in high school. Students may be able to earn credits toward their college graduation or take advanced coursework by demonstrating that they have earned the required score on an AP exam. Colleges and universities often grant credit to students who achieve specific scores on the culminating exams. Use the matrix below to locate the AP exam, the score required, the course equivalencies and the credits that can be awarded. Students should consult with an advisor to discuss how the AP credits can be applied to their programs. Further information on receiving credit for AP coursework can be found at the undergraduate admissions offices, from The College Board (phone: ; web: or from the Educational Testing Service (phone: CALL-4AP; ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMINATION EQUIVALENCIES FOR TRANSFER PURPOSES Equivalent # of Credits Test Score Art History 3 ARTS 1220, 1330 ART 231, 232 ARH Art Studio (Draw) 3 ARTS portfolio Electives; portfolio review ART review for specific credit for specific credit Art Studio (General) 3 Electives; portfolio review Electives; portfolio review ART for specific credit for specific credit Biology 3 BIOL 1001, 1002 BIOL 101, 102 BIO 101, Calculus (AB) 3 MATH 1900, 1910 MATH 209, 212 MTH 111, Calculus (BC) 3 MATH 1900, 1910, 1920 MATH 209, 212, 213 MTH 141, Chemistry 3 CHEM 1030, 1100 CHEM 103, 104 CHM 101, 102, 112, Computer Science A 3 COMI 1215 CSCI 201 CSC Computer Science AB 3 COMI free elective CSCI 201, 221 CSC 211, English (Comp./Lit.) 3 ENGL 1010, 1200 ENGL 117 plus elective WRT 1XC English (Lang./Comp.) 3 ENGL 1010, 2010 WRT 100 plus elective WRT English (Int. 8 32 Section Two Course Transfer Agreements ART encourages all transfer students who wish to transfer program credit to either submit a portfolio or to register for ART 002 Sophomore Review. The purpose of the portfolio review is to advise students on course selection and career direction; portfolio reviews are not used in admission decisions. The College of Engineering does not accept studio courses for general education credit. requires all students who wish to transfer program credit to have a portfolio review. This review will determine whether a student will receive credit for an equivalent course at (see equivalencies below) or if the student will receive elective credit. The portfolio review is not used for admission consideration. The portfolio review is not required for ART 201 or for art history courses.
