2 Position Objectives: Reporting to the Manager Early Intervention and Clinic Services the first instance, the Senior Speech Pathologist is a member of Early Intervention and Clinic Services. Clinical feedback and discussion will be addressed with the Senior Clinician Speech Pathology The Senior Speech Pathologist in consultation with the Manager Early Intervention and Clinic Services will Be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the program using a trans-disciplinary approach Lead the trans-disciplinary team providing guidance and support to other staff members within the team Apply clinical experience and professional competence to plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive and integrated range of services appropriate to the needs of the clients provide service management, high quality advice and consultative support to families and educational staff to facilitate inclusion in the educational sector and other early childhood settings Participate in a clinical capacity to ensure the achievement of organisational goals in relation to staff development and service delivery Special Requirements: Current South Australian Drivers Licence Satisfactory Department for Communities and Social Inclusion(DCSI) employment screening clearance Reasonable additional hours of work may be required May be required to travel intra/interstate Willingness to participate in an annual performance and professional review Responsibilities/Duties & KPI s: 1. Service Delivery and reporting Lead and work within the structure of a Trans-disciplinary team providing services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in accordance with recommended practice Work within the structure of a trans-disciplinary team to deliver therapy and intervention services to individuals and their families. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate goals set for each activity and per individual client Inform the development of quality clinical services both within the organisation and externally Participate in the professional network Provide statistical data as required o Evidence that assessments have been conducted in accordance with policy and procedure or using evidence based interventions o Evidence that Behaviour Support Plans have been developed for individuals requiring specific interventions for challenging behaviours in accordance with recommended policy and procedure, utilising appropriate models of intervention such as SCERTS and other early learning principles and practises o Evidence that an individualised plan has been developed for each child receiving a Autism SA JD073 Page 2 of 6

3 service which outlines goals and outcomes o Actively contribute to the development of professional knowledge and skills as demonstrated by positive impacts on service delivery o Provide evidence that data to indicate that targets are met as per DCSI annexure o Provide evidence that DS:NMDS information is entered on the DCT portal in a timely manner o Provide evidence that other reporting data collection, EG: MAC:SWD is submitted in a timely manner o provide evidence that operational reporting statistics are entered on the appropriate template and drive, on a monthly basis 2. Professional Leadership and Staffing Lead, coordinate and provide formal and informal support to staff Provide day to day management of the team to ensure that program objectives are met Ensure maintenance of professional standards and service performance in conjunction with other Senior Allied Health Professionals Assist in the recruitment of staff, probation and orientation and assist in performance development and review Conduct individual performance development discussion with team members to facilitate further professional development Role model positive leadership behaviours which promote effective working relationships internally and externally Contribute to change management which reflect organisational culture o Conduct annual Professional Development and Performance Reviews with relevant staff and ensure record is logged with Human Resources and copy of HR Form 03 Development Plan is placed in staff personnel file. o Conduct monthly staff meetings, minute and enter on appropriate electronic drive o Provide quarterly updates at team meetings 3. Systems/Processes/Improvement & Evaluation Contribute towards continuous improvement strategies to enhance service delivery operations Participate in team professional development activities which enable greater synergy across programs and individualised service delivery areas and specifically Early Intervention and Clinic Services Work collaboratively as part of a trans-disciplinary team, which may include service providers from other sectors and other Autism SA departments, utilizing a combination of preventative, early intervention, treatment/therapy and evaluation approaches o Evidence of active communication with other senior staff to enable greater efficiencies across service delivery o Evidence that weekly program plan has been developed for each term o Evidence that outcomes have been measured against the program plan o Evidence that appropriate Quality/Risk management policies are adhered to o Provide monthly updates of any program meetings to manager via the supervision/individual meetings Autism SA JD073 Page 3 of 6

Promotion and Representation of Autism SA Ensure a positive reputation for the agency Represent Autism SA in appropriate policy and planning meetings Develop and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders and strategic partners o Provide monthly promotional material to Manager Early Intervention and Clinic services, and subject to approval to be forwarded to Manager Strategic Marketing and Communications 5. To work as an integral staff member of Autism SA Complete reports and data as required and being accountable at all times for work practices Attend and participate in team meetings, planning days, full staff meetings Work in collaboration with other departments of Autism SA Seek training and development opportunities Ensure adherence to relevant organisational policies and procedures and work practices Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and apply quality improvement principles to all duties performed Undertake other duties that may be allocated from time to time that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification. 6. 5 Person Specification Position Title: Qualifications: Essential: Degree in Applied Science (Speech Pathology) and current registration or eligibility to register with Speech Pathology Australia Desirable: Post graduate qualification or training in a relevant area of specialisation Experience Essential: Working in a complex service delivery environment A minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in the field Demonstrated experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders Familiarity with appropriate early childhood assessment tools, goal setting and experience in developing specific goals to meet the child s developmental needs Demonstrated experience in the provision of assessment, therapy and intervention services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder Significant experience in the provision of services Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and take a shared responsibility for achieving results Proven organisational skills Evidence of ongoing professional development by keeping abreast of current literature and research in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorder and attending relevant conferences and/or workshops Experience in liaising with other professionals and disability service organisations Desirable: Experience in the not for profit sector and an understanding of disability services Knowledge Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder Working knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and other funding arrangements as they relate to service delivery Understanding of the current issues in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders, and international recommendations for best practice Knowledge relating to clinical practice and supervision in disability service provision Knowledge of the National and State Disability Services Act, Disability Discrimination Act, and any other relevant legislation and its implications for service provision Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills: High level of communication and customer service skills Ability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment Motivated and reliable with the ability to work to meet deadlines without sacrificing professional standards Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office, especially Microsoft Word Proven ability to maintain enthusiasm and work independently within a broader team Capacity to learn new processes within short timeframes and operationalise this learning Ability to be flexible and be responsive to changing needs of the program Admirable work ethics Autism SA JD073 Page 5 of 6
