1 USERGUIDE Introduction 3DTech Backup Solution is a multipurpose enterprise backup solution for SME to large scale corporation to protect its company data assets from any disaster that may occur. 3DTech Backup Solution is designed to run on Windows platform, including Windows Vista. With its very user friendly designed interface, 3DTech Backup Solution offers the best backup solution to your company at the most affordable price. 3DTech Backup Solution offers solutions to backup three main sources of data. These are normal data, such as any Microsoft Offices documents or any other data files of similar nature, Microsoft Outlook , and Microsoft SQL Server databases. 3DTech Backup Solutions offers varies settings to ease the backup operations of these data. Some of these functions, which we will later discuss in detail, are incremental backup, backup of missing files, start when windows starts, historical backup status logs, scheduling backup, and Microsoft SQL server settings. Each and every function in the 3DTech Backup Solutions are designed to operate the backup of the company data efficiently to ensure the safeguard and protection of the company data asset. 3DTech Backup Solution is organized in the following manner: There are a total of twelve (12) buttons to manage the 3DTech Backup Solutions, six (6) management buttons on the left and six (6) operations button on the right. 2 MANAGEMENT BUTTONS THE GENERAL BUTTON The general button is the main interface of 3DTech Backup Solutions. This page consists of the company logo and some company information, such as the company name, address, official web site, and the contact number of the company. THE GENERAL PAGE

3 THE ABOUT BUTTON This button provides a summary page about 3DTech Backup Solution. The summary of the about page includes the introduction of the functions of this software, such as the provision of the incremental backup, the ability to backup multiple folders, the ability to backup open files, the ability to start the software upon windows start up, and etc. THE ABOUT PAGE Along with the ABOUT button is a legal software copyright statement to ensure the registration of the licensing is being alerted and notified.

4 THE TUTORIAL BUTTON This button further summarizes the functionality of this software. The functionality of each button is being summarized as a general tutorial for new users. This TUTORIAL page serves as a general guideline to use the software and it provides the web site address and ways to obtain this user guide, whether it is through or download through the web site. THE TUTORIAL PAGE

5 THE BUTTON The button opens up the page to ease and provide a quick solution for end users to contact our team. Use this page for any technical issues report that you wish to launch. This page is served also as a tool to obtain the registration key code for the software. THE PAGE GET CODE: Press on this button if you wish to obtain the registration key code for the 3DTech Backup Solution Software. Once you obtained the key code, type in the REGISTRATION & LICENSING page to register the software ERROR: Press on this button if you wish to report an error that has occurred to the 3DTech Backup Solution. COMPLAINT: Press on this button if you wish to report a complaint about this system or if you wish to launch a technical issue relating to this system. SEND Once you have pressed the above mentioned buttons, please click on this SEND button to start your tool and send the . 3DTech Backup Solutions provides this page to ensure that we are reachable through . Once we received the from you, a report will be filed automatically and we will get our team to resolve the issues or queries that you may have in a timely manner.

6 THE BACKUP DEFINITION BUTTON The BACKUP DEFINITION button provides four (4) checkboxes to set up and configure the 3DTech Backup Solution properties. The proper use of these checkboxes will ensure a more accurate, efficient, and rapid backup job during the operations. THE BACKUP DEFINITION PAGE SAVE LOG FILE: By ticking this checkbox, the 3DTech Backup Solution will record all backup status, whether it is successful or not, into a log file call 3dTechLog.Txt. The logging of this file is very crucial in the events that you wish to check on the historical status of the backup jobs that have been performed, or to monitor any error that has occurred during the backup. INCTREMENTAL BACKUP: This checkbox allows the backup of only files that have been changed since the last backup job. This checkbox only applies to the normal data because MS Outlook and MSSQL server has its own backup definition which we shall discuss later. If this checkbox is not being ticked, a FULL BACKUP will be performed. The checking of this box will increase the speed of the backup job tremendously because only files that are changed will be backed up. BACKUP MISSING FILES: This checkbox is an extension of the INCREMENTAL backup. By simply choosing incremental backup, any files that are being removed from the backup

7 destination will not be re-backed up. So, by selecting this option to backup the missing files, any files that are being removed or deleted from the backup destination, the checking of this box will instruct 3DTech Backup Solution to re-back up the missing files again. On the other hand, if the end users does not wish to backup the files that are being removed from the destination folder, simply un-tick this box. START WITH WINDOWS: 3DTech Backup Solution provides an option to start the software when the windows operating system is resumed. This is to ensure that once if there are any backup jobs being scheduled, 3DTech Backup Solution is ensured to REMEMBER to start and complete the backup jobs.

8 THE REGISTRATION & LICENSING BUTTON The REGISTRATION & LICENSING button allows the registration of the software to open for unlimited backup. Without the registration of the system, users are only given a demo system which would allow for the backup of ten (10) files, excluding the backup of MSOUTLOOK and MSSQL SERVER database. THE REGISTRATION & LICENSING PAGE LICENSE INFO: Click on this button to have the system display the COMPUTER NAME and the REGISTRATION NO of the computer. Once these information is obtained, you may either these information, using the abovementioned page, or you may call your service representative to obtain the registration KEY CODE. When you have obtained the KEY CODE, simply type in, or copy and paste the KEY CODE provided into the field, and click on the button below. If you have registered the software correctly, the button will display the message that You have successfully registered the system.

9 THE BACKUP COMMAND BUTTON This is the main page to control the backup operation. There are five (5) main buttons in this page to facilitate the 3DTech Backup Solution for proper backup operations. THE BACKUP COMMAND PAGE BACKUP: This button is to immediately initiate the backup jobs. Based on the settings configured, this button allows the immediate execution of the backup job. SAVE ALL SETTINGS: Once all the settings, such as the backup data source, destination, backup definition, and etc have been entered and configured, please make sure this button is being click to have all the settings saved. Once the settings are saved, the restarting of this software again will ensure the remaining settings unchanged. MINIMIZE TO TRAY: This is to have the backup job run at the background while the users continue to use the computer for other activities. Clicking this button will have the software minimized to the systray and to re-open it, simply click on the minimized icon. VIEW LOG FILE: Once the checkbox is being ticked at the backup definition page to Save Log File, all the historical status of the backup jobs will be logged into a file. By clicking this VIEW LOG FILE button, the software will open up the log file for analysis of the backup job. QUIT: This is to quit and exit from the system

10 THE BACKUP SELECTION BUTTON The BACKUP SELECTION page allows the selection of the data source to be included in the backup jobs. This page provides the selection of FOLDERS, or FILES respectively. THE BACKUP SELECTION PAGE Select the drive where the source of the data is located. Once the drive is selected, choose the FOLDER where the data is required to be backed up. Double to select the folder, and then press the SELECT FOLDER button so that the folder would be added to the larges list box below. 3DTech Backup Solution may, instead of choosing the entire folder to backup, allow for the selection of individual files. To backup individual files, simply double click the individual file that is required to be backed up, and the files will be added to the list box below.

11 THE BACKUP DESTINATION BUTTON The BACKUP DESTINATION button will provide a single location where all the files and folders will be backed up. As for MSOUTLOOK, the same destination will be used; however, a new folder called MSOUTLOOK will be created within the destination folder to store all the outlook messages. THE BACKUP DESTINATION PAGE Simply choose the drive where the data will be backed up. Double click to select the FOLDER where the data is supposed to be stored. In the above example, the destination location where all the files would be stored is D:\Backup.

12 THE BACKUP SCHEDULE BUTTON The BACKUP SCHEDULE button opens up the page where backup jobs can be scheduled. Backup scheduling enables the backup jobs to run by itself based on the schedule set. This reduces the hassles of having to start the backup job repeatedly and ensure the running of the backup jobs at a preset interval THE BACKUP DESTINATION PAGE The upper box allows the setting of the scheduling TIME for backup. This section is divided into the exact time, in hours and minutes, and the other setting is for repetition of EVERY particular hour and minutes, depend on the settings. The other portion of this scheduling is the DAILY SCHEDULE. The user may set to run the backup job on a DAILY basis, or choose the particular day of week to have the backup job run. These settings can be changed at anytime depends on the regularity to have the backup job run.

13 THE BACKUP MSOUTLOOK BUTTON This is the area where setting is to be configured to enable the back up of MSOUTLOOK messages. Upon backing up, each MSOUTLOOK message is being saved as an MSG file. The files will be stored under a FOLDER based on the date received under the destination folder. All the detail of the message and attachment is stored within the MSG file. To open the MSG file, simply double click the file and Windows will launch MSOUTLOOK application to have the file opened. THE BACKUP DESTINATION PAGE The first checkbox, BACKUP MSOUTLOOK , is to enable the backing up of MSOUTLOOK messaged. If this box is not checked, the system will simply ignored and NOT backup any MSOUTLOOK messaged. Once the BACKUP MSOUTLOOK checkbox is being checked, the next step is to choose the method of backing up the messages. The BACKUP ALL allows the backing up of the entire inbox of all the messages since MSOUTLOOK was used. The other option is to choose a date and time since the messages is received. For example, typing 1/1/2008 will only backup all messages received after 1/1/2008. If this option is selected, 3DTech Backup Solution will automatically update the date time of backup to the last messages received during the time of back up.

14 THE BACKUP MSSQL BUTTON This button provides settings to configure the backing up of MSSQL server databases. In this page, in order for the back up jobs to run, the users must provide the following: Windows Authentication OR SQL Server Authentication method Name of the MSSQL Server Login Name and Password, if using SQL Server Authentication method. Destination location of the database to be backed up THE BACKUP MSSQL PAGE WINDOWS OR MSSQL SERVER AUTHENTICATION: The access into MSSQL server can be verified through two (2) different modes: Windows Authentication, or MSSQL Server Authentication. Windows Authentication does not require any username or password, while it is a must for MSSQL Server Authentication mode to log on based on given username and password. DEFAULT SERVER DESTINATION: Regardless of which client computer is being used to backup the MSSQL Server database, the default backup destination would be referred back to the original destination where MSSQL Server is installed, namely the server itself. For example, if the MSSQL Server is installed in a server or a computer called PRODUCTION, then the

15 DEFAULT SERVER DESTINATION must be referred back to a folder that exists in the PRODUCTION machine, and NOT the local machine or any client machine where the backup system is initiated. Please also remember to include the back-slash (\) at the end of the default destination field, such as C:\SQLdatabase Backup\. USE BACKUP SCHEDULE: The checking of this box allows the backup job of the MSSQL Server database to follow whatever date time schedule that is being set in the SCHEDULE section of the system. Otherwise, a manual backup of the database can be achieved through the clicking of the BACKUP SELECTION button. CONNECT: Once the configuration for the authentication mode, server name, user name, and password is being set, the CONNECT button allows the connection of the database and a listing of all the databases can be seen from the database listing box on the left. Simply select the name of the database that is required to back up, and click the ADD button to add the database name to the box on the right. To remove the name of the database from the right, simply select the name of the database from the right box, and click the REMOVE button. Once all the settings are ready, simply click the BACKUP SELECTION button to initiate the backup of the selected databases to the destination location in the server.
