Brach, Ph.D., P.E., Professor Emeritus of the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, University of Notre Dame, is a consultant in the field of mechanical engineering with a specialty in vehicle accident reconstruction. After receiving a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, he completed his formal education by earning a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has authored and co-authored three technical books on the topics of mechanical impact, scientific uncertainty, and vehicle accident reconstruction. His specialized areas of research and practice include mechanical design, mechanics, vibrations, acoustics, applications of statistics and quality control, vehicle dynamics, accident reconstruction, and microparticle dynamics. He is a Fellow member of SAE International and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Noise Control Engineers, the Acoustical Society of America, and the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists.
