Mrs. Angelica Salinas gave a presentation on the Program Self-Evaluation Annual Report (Preschool) and the GATE Program. Dr. McLean stated it s exciting to see the recognition the preschool program is receiving. 3 Anabel Rubio James Arvizu Maria Ortiz Geri Rivera Reports Dr. McLean congratulated Bear Mountain Elementary School for winning 3 rd place in the K-12 Keep America Beautiful Challenge. Dr. McLean reviewed the Workers Compensation Actuarial Report as of December 31, Dr. McLean reviewed the First 5 Annual Administrative Review of the Arvin Family Resource Center. Dr. McLean reported on KCSOS Best Practices for PBIS/Restorative Justice Panel. Dr. McLean reported on the California Mental Health Conference for adolescent and youth. Dr. McLean and Karen Davis co-presented with Daryl Thiesen, KCSOS on the partnership with the county for social workers. Mrs. Rhett reported the Grimmway Academy School Board Meeting. Dr. McLean stated Grimmway is supposed to adopt the same calendar as Arvin Union School District. Mrs. Rubio asked if there is a person on the board who oversees the Charter school. Mrs. Rhett replied they have a person on the board from the county. Dr. McLean stated Grimmway has a person on the board who has been appointed by the county office. Dr. McLean stated we have continued to receive students back from the charter school. Mr. Castaneda asked if we have students re-enrolling just before summer school is to begin? Dr. McLean replied the students would not be able to attend unless they are enrolled in the district. Mrs. Rhett stated it has not been a pattern and we choose our summer students from identified students at need. Mrs. Rivera visited the Dual class at Bear Mountain School. Mrs. Rivera attended the Tri-Cabe Awards where Mrs. Rhett spoke and three of our teachers were awarded; Mr. Andrade, Mrs. Ocampo and Mrs. Gallardo. Mrs. Rhett reviewed the LCAP goals. Communications from the public At this time, Mrs. Rubio announced the opportunity for public comment regarding items not on the agenda. 4 Mrs. Diana Anthony, TK Teacher at Sierra Vista, addressed the board regarding a certificated employee on administrative leave and the 60-day reporting period. Ms. Elizabeth Martinez, Dolores Huerta Foundation, addressed the school board regarding the Walking School Bus. Ms. Juana Montoya, 157 Fallbrook, Arvin, addressed the board regarding the Walking School Bus. Ms. Montoya would like to see this program continue. Ms. Ashley Duncan, Franklin and South A Street, addressed the board regarding the Walking School Bus. Ms. Duncan stated her children enjoy this very much and would like to see this program continue. Ms. Lucia Garcia addressed the board regarding preschool graduation. Ms. Garcia would like the district to allow the graduation for next year. Dr. McLean stated there will be an end-of-year celebration in the classroom not in the cafeteria. Ms. Garcia asked if the students will be allowed to wear the cap and gown. Dr. McLean replied, no. The district will be working with parents for an alternative plan. Mrs. Rubio asked Ms. Garcia if she will be a preschool parent next year; Ms. Garcia replied, yes. Mrs. Rubio suggested maybe you can sign yourself up for the parent committee for next year.
