Responsible for redesigning the Counseling Program, hiring new faculty and admitting and advising all program students. Developed new practicum sites for students and participated in the plans for a new counseling center. Taught courses in counseling theory, career development, individual appraisal, multicultural counseling, and practicum. COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY INTERN University of Florida Gainesville, FL Psychological and Vocational Counseling Center Provided individual, group, and couples therapy that emphasized multicultural counseling and women's issues. Was co-leader for relationship building and bulimia therapy groups as well as the Black Women's Support group. Acted as a consultant to the Housing Division in training residence hall directors. Implemented the first daytime orientation for returning students at the college. INSTRUCTOR Fall, 1984 Anne Arundel Community College Arnold, MD Continuing Education Designed and instructed a course for adults who were considering career changes. Structured the student's self-exploration. Provided labor market information, utilized computer career guidance program, and facilitated a supportive classroom environment. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS Onondaga Community College Syracuse, NY Responsible for all outreach activities and provided pre-admissions counseling for applicants to degree programs in nursing, and dental hygiene and for women entering non-traditional majors. Developed ongoing programs to recruit and inform targeted populations (minorities, adults, and women). Planned and organized activities, controlled budgets, and supervised open houses for potential students. Hired, trained and supervised para-professional counselor/ recruiters and clerical personnel. Designed a model para-professional training program which was used by other offices at the college. Apprised each supervisee of minimum standards and evaluated them based on those standards. CAREER COUNSELOR (part-time) Regional Learning Service Syracuse, NY Provided career counseling for adults in the community. Utilized interest inventories, ability tests and personality assessments as well as specific computer programs (SIGI) as aids in counseling. Was member of the training committee that kept counselors abreast of new developments and helped them with difficult clients.
