Data collection is done by each main unit 2. Each unit sends data to CfEDS. Sincronizing both database are done periodically. 3. CfEDS storage the data after doing validation and verification. 4. CfEDS uses the data as source of education data for further utilization for CfEDS, other units in MoEC, and other institutions 5. If data are used for implementing program that change value of one or some attibute, implementing unit should report the changes to CfEDS to update the database. This change will also change database in main units 3

10 INNOVATION & ISSUES AND CHALLENGES INNOVATION 1. Syncronization of school and Directorate database 2. Syncronization of Directorate and CfEDS database 3. One set of instrument covers all data needed (relating to school, teacher, and student) ISSUES AND CHALLENGES 1. Large number of schools (more than 200,000), students (around 40 million), and teachers (around 3 million) 2. Large variety on school infrastructure and human resource 3. Lack of internet access for schools in remote areas 4. Human resource in school (no administrative staff for Primary School) 5. Data validation 10

11 CAPACITY BUILDING FOR SUSTAINABILITY 1. Online tutorial 2. Training for district operator and ICT (conducted by Directorate) 3. Training for nucleus school (conducted by District Office) 4. School can use school grant for data collection purpuse (include for operator learning in ICT/District Office) 11

12 LESSON LEARNED & FUTURE PLAN LESSON LEARNED 1. Implementing new system to a large number of school with high variation of capability and infrastructures needs considerations and alternatives 2. As decentralization in eduacation is in district level, the role of District Office of Education is important in implementation process. 3. Schools are willing to fill the instrument when it is related to program (i.e. operation school grant, teacher certification insentive) 4. The important of data validasi at school levels FUTRE PLAN 1. Give access to District and Provincial Office of Education to database for validation purposes and data utilization for planning, implementation, monitoring, and policy making 2. Capacity building for operator in school and District Office of Education 3. Increase the number of schools for having internet access 4. Develop query and other utilization tools 12
