Fact sheet regarding the impact of nursing education on nursing practice. 2. Press release B. 1. MSU nursing program fully approved by NDBON 2. NCLEX-RN pass rate for fiscal year is 92%. 3.Fully accredited by NLNAAC Site visit See attached articles C. RN to BSN streamlined Marie Mohler, advanced standing director reviewed the newly revised RN to BSN Marie also updated the committee on the advanced standing student numbers. 15 LPN to BSN and 3 RN to BSN students currently in the

Winnipeg Health Care has requested MSU, DON to bring the BSN nursing program to Winnipeg d. MSU, DON are currently exploring summer courses with a possible year around curriculum. e. Would partnering with another university be realistic? MSU Department of Nursing Page 2 a. MSU strategic planning currently in process and have been having focus group meetings. b. Faculty will be identifying the program focus(es) in strategic planning meetings. c. No action. d. No action. e. MSU, DON currently has 5 faculty in PhD Program f. Devils Lake and Williston cohorts, LPN and RN to BSN g. Limited resources g. There are limited qualified faculty and clinical sites available. f. Currently MSU, DON working with 22 students who will graduate the end of 2006 summer semester. g. Resources limit the number of students that may be accepted into MSU nursing 15 availiable nursing faculty positions available in ND. 470 ND applicants for Nursing programs. 398 slots available in ND programs.

3 State of Nursing Education Stephanie Witwer introduced herself and explained her role at MSU. Identified the projected loss of 10-35% of ND high school graduates by MSU Department of Nursing Page 3 See attached II. Advisory Members A. Introductions and agency/area updates. A.1. Trinity Health-Corrine Semmen-DON a. Electronic MAR in process of implementation, target date b. Enjoyed having MSU summer nursing graduates. We employed them all. c. Aggressive scholarship program is available to students. 2. Trinity Homes Vicky Helmers ADON a. In progress of implementing electronic charting b. Have interested staff in CNA to BSN 3. North Central Human Service Center Carol Laber Nursing Supervisor 4. Mary Kidd, RN, MS WSC Dakota Nursing Program a. They enjoy students b. Recently hired a MSU graduate c. Have had electronic files for 2 years makes their job much easier. d. They have 3 clinical nurse specialists. e. Issues they deal with are: medication access for clients & medication administration. a. Eager to coordinate clinical schedule with MSU. b. Their program requires a CNA before admission. c. Mary is an advocate for MSU. 5. Mary Keller, RN, MS Magic City Campus Health Careers Director a. Encourages smaller communities to develop a High School Health Career
