3 General Information about Department of Public Finance Department of Public Finance of Sakarya University, involving undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Sakarya University is one of the best universities in Turkey and the Public Finance Department at Sakarya is one of the largest and most rapidly developing departments in the country. Public Finance undergraduate program offers full fundamental course to the students and graduates of the department pursue careers mainly in public sector, but wide ranges of private sector opportunities are also available. Public Finance Department consists of four sub-departments which are as follows: Public Finance Theory Fiscal Policy Fiscal Law Budget and Fiscal Planning Public Finance lies at the intersection of many social sciences such as economics, law, accounting, politics, psychology, sociology, history and organisation studies. While, students are expect to have basic knowledge all of these areas at the end of the course, the main aim of the department is to give insight in the theory and practice of public finance, public economics and taxation. Public Finance courses are run as a four-year undergraduate degree program. In addition, it offers, under the direction of the Institute of Social Sciences, Master degree in Public Finance. Currently, there are 1 Professor, 1 visiting Professor, 4 Assistant Professors, and 4 Research Assistants. Totally, the department has 343 undergraduate and 28 master students. Majority of the teaching staff are capable of lecturing in English and some of them can teach in German and French languages. 3
