Since this is a degree from UTA, it is accepted everywhere, should you wish to go on to graduate school. You apply for acceptance to UTA online at Be sure that you enter CRCJ as your major on the application. Then send your transcripts to the address listed in the degree plan below. This is your degree plan, so you can determine what you have taken and what you need. IF YOU RESIDE IN TEXAS, YOU WILL BE HELD TO TAKS REQUIREMENTS, SOME OF WHICH MIGHT BE MET BY YOUR PREVIOUS COLLEGE WORK IF YOU RECEIVED Bs in the courses you took. This is the street address for sending transcripts to UTA: Office of Admissions Davis Hall--2nd Floor 701 S. Nedderman Arlington Texas You must first complete the university CORE. You will want to complete these courses prior to enrolling. You need 8 hours of lab science in the same science. Also, you need 3 hours of English literature and this is only offered in the summer online from Telecampus.
4 Our criminal justice program is composed of 63 advanced/upper division hours. Lower level criminal justice classes that you may have taken cannot be substituted. The UT system does not recognize work experience for academic credit. The University core requires that you must complete: 6 hours of Math (college algebra or above) 6 hours of English writing 3 hours of English literature 3 hours of a course at the 2000 level or above given by a liberal arts department 3 hours of a social/cultural studies course. THIS IS MET WITH CRCJ 4380, AND THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT 6 hours of American history 3 hours of national government 3 hours of Texas state and local government 8 hours of lab science (same science) 3 hours of fine arts Once you have completed the university CORE, there are 66 hours of required online CRCJ courses and 10 hours of electives. Courses to be taken in criminal justice core: The courses are grouped by the school which offers them, but you should not take all your courses at one school in a semester. Remember, before attempting to register for classes each semester, contact your advisor so that he/she can lift the academic advising hold thus allowing you to register. When registering for classes you want to select courses bolded as OFF WEB. There will be at least two sections for the class, one for in-state online students and one for outof-state online students. If you get a message saying you must have department permission to take the class, you are trying to register for the wrong section, try the other section number. We recommend that you take one course given by UTA each spring and fall semester. It is necessary to take at least one class per semester (not counting summer sessions) from UTA or your status may be dropped to inactive, and you must be reinstated. If you do not take any classes from UTA in an academic year, the Records Office computer will drop you as a student in the program and you will have to re-apply and pay the application fee. You are expected to make a spreadsheet for yourself in order to determine when you will take each class. The schedule of when courses are offered is located on the Telecampus web site. Every course is offered at least once each academic year.
