Call-through and callback features for mobile softphone An alternative way of making cheap international calls, if internet connection is not available, is to dial through access numbers (DISA). The mobile client automatically connects to the predefined access number and passes the user s PIN and then the destination number. The mobile client chooses this method when the internet connection to the server is unavailable. Also a user can select this option to be used when there is no Wifi and he does not wish to use his data network (Edge or 3G) for VoIP calls. The mobile client supports multiple access numbers which can be selected by the user or be chosen automatically based on the user s location. In the callback service the call is initiated by the mobile client by sending an http request to the server. In response, the server dials the user s phone number and once the connection is established, it dials the destination number. Both the destination and the source number are sent over to the server. This service is very useful when there is no access number in the current location of the user (for example when he is abroad) and the fees for internet connection are expensive. A user can choose which way of connection he prefers. In conclusion, StarSSip VoipSwitch gives you, as a VOIP provider, the opportunity to configure a pre-defined way of calling for your clients therefore giving them more options with less keystrokes. StarSSip Voip mobile dialers support all 3 ways of calling: VoIP SIP call, Call through and Callback. The logic behind the selection of the mode of calling can be customized according to the provider s requirements. 28 P a g e

Provisioning for softphones By default end user is asked to provide SIP account credentials in order to let softphone register to the server, make and receive calls. StarSSip VoipSwitch software vendor is offering custom development for service providers to integrate their provisioning with our mobile softphones. Exemplary provisioning can be based on: - Mobile device IMEI number After softphone installation mobile client will connect to WebServer and will pass IMEI number of mobile device. Based on IMEI number WebServer will return SIP login and password to configure in the softphone. HTTPS/SSL connection is recommended. - Web account credentials Instead of mobile device IMEI number (as in previous example) softphone will ask end user to provide web account credentials and silently will communicate with WebServer to retrieve SIP account settings. HTTPs/SSL connection is recommended - One time token generated online Alternative way of provisioning can be based on tokens generated online for end users who requested mobile softphone for their account. In this example instead of using IMEI or web account credentials sofphone will ask end user to provide token generated in online Customer Portal. All above methods prevent user of changing or discovering SIP username and password. 33 P a g e
If end user is not yet valid Customer then he or she can create account (initiate signup process) directly from mobile softphone by choosing appropriate option instead of online provisioning. At the end of signup process softphone can retrieve SIP account credentials from the signup website. WebAPI for softphone provisioning and integration with SIP Server (either StarSSip VoipSwitch or 3 rd party server) will be prepared according to Customer requirements. SIP Server details (IP address or domain name of the sever) are not part of online provisioning as StarSSip VoipSwitch license is based on IP. SIP Server address will be hardcoded in the softphone itself by StarSSip VoipSwitch software vendor. 34 P a g e
StarSSip VoipSwitch proposed setup Exemplary hardware specification (based on HP servers): Database server HP ProLiant DL380 G6 Server series or equivalent 2x Processor Intel Xeon E5630 2,53 GHz, 8GB RAM, HP Smart Array P410i/256 MB, Total storage space 1000GB, SATA drives in RAID configuration StarSSip VoipSwitch application servers HP ProLiant DL360 G6 Server series or equivalent 1x Processor Intel Xeon E5630 2,53 GHz, 4GB RAM, Total storage space 500GB, SATA drives StarSSip VoipSwitch web server HP ProLiant DL360 G6 Server series or equivalent 1x Processor Intel Xeon E5630 2,53 GHz, 4GB RAM, Total storage space 500GB, SATA drives StarSSip VoipSwitch web server HP ProLiant DL180 G6 Server series or equivalent 1x Processor Intel Xeon E5630 2,53 GHz, 2GB RAM, Total storage space 500GB, SATA drives Standard network diagram for load balanced cluster is shown below. 35 P a g e
Database sub-system Two MySQL servers are configured for master-master replication, one monitoring host is managing MySQL cluster roles (read / write). In default stage one of MySQL Servers is using as read/write and second one is using as read-only. Roles may change at any time without service interruption. MySQL monitoring host is responsible for assigning database roles to particular MySQL server. In case of monitoring server failure MySql Cluster still works however automatic role migration is not available. 36 P a g e
All application servers (StarSSip VoipSwitch and Web) are connecting to MySQL using virtual IP address assigned to MySQL Cluster. Additional monitoring host (MySQL Slave/Backup MON inactive) is used as a backup and in addition can store replicated copy of database. This server can be used also for reporting or statistics calculation. 37 P a g e
System performance and scalability Each StarSSip VoipSwitch application server is able to handle up to 1000 simultaneous calls. Depends on the ratio of busy lines (ratio of provisioned accounts to busy lines during peak hours) there is possibility to estimate maximum number of users platform can handle. StarSSip VoipSwitch software vendor doesn t limit number of subscribers and it s limited by database storage only. One database system as proposed in Implementation plan can handle up to 5 application servers under full load (or more application servers with total capacity around 5000 simultaneous calls) Simultaneous calls Single 1000 cluster Simultaneous calls Single server X*5000 Simultaneous calls Many clusters 38 P a g e
Technical support level Fault categories Severity Definition Critical a. Total/Partial outage of service b. Loss of billing or billing files corruption c. System repeatedly crashes and requires manual intervention. d. System repeatedly restarts drastically degrading performance. e. A subset of the services is experiencing a total outage. f. Loss of any security capability or emergency disposal capability Major a. A recurring fault that degrades service and requires manual intervention to be cleared. c. 41 Implementation plan Implementation phase will be performed by StarSSip VoipSwitch dedicated support engineers in cooperation with Telco / ISP / VoIP provider s staff. StarSSip VoipSwitch will be installed in high-availability cluster according to high level network diagram. Each sub-system (application servers, database and web) is redundant and one node failure will not cause system to stop working. StarSSip VoipSwitch software vendor is using two clustering options for high availability: Network Load Balancing 1 for StarSSip VoipSwitch application servers and Web servers Multi Master Replication Manager 2 for MySQL database P a g e
