Sam Walton (Wal-Mart) Community Scholarship Program Due Date: February 1 Dollar Amount: Each Wal-Mart store will award 1 - $1,000 scholarship to a senior Must demonstrate financial need, academic and scholastic achievement, be active in extra-curricular activities, and community involvement. Alpha Rho Alumni Due Date: February 1 Dollar Amount: 2 - $700 Must have minimum of 2.5 gpa and going to attend the University of Idaho. Alva W. Blackerby Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Applicant must be a male student at GHS. This scholarship will be awarded not only based on merit but also on personality traits of the boy, such as the following: honesty, loyalty, tolerance, dependability, sportsmanship, intelligence, leadership, ability to get along with others, physical and nervous energy, drive and vigor of body and mind, love of the outdoors, community interest, spirit of public service, and affection for people. Each applicant must type a double spaced 300 to 500 word essay addressing how they have demonstrated the above mentioned qualities. Gary Cash Memorial Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: Applicant must be a US citizen and prospective GHS graduate. The applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of no less than Must have been active in one or more sports and lettered in at least two (2) years. The scholarship should be based on athletic endeavors, desire, determination, and good sportsmanship rather than emphasis
3 on athletic ability. Each applicant must type a double spaced 300-word essay on his or her athletic endeavors, desire, determination, and good sportsmanship. Keeler-Martin Wrestling Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: Must be a US citizen and participant in wrestling. Must have a minimum gpa of 2.0. Must attach a statement as complete as possible regarding financial need. Each applicant must attach a typed, double spaced, essay on their participation in wrestling including a list of all the semesters they were on the team and any awards received during that time. They must tell why they enjoy the sport, how the sport develops character, and if they wish to continue wrestling while in college. Foster Morgan and Elizabeth Kantola Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: Applicant must be a US citizen and have no less than a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. The applicant must have shown active involvement in community service and write a 300-word essay on the community service including whom, when and the reason why they were involved in this service. The Shearer Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: $5,000 last year, up to 4 year renewal Given to a student who is attending the UofI only. This is need-based, but the student must also be of good character, and have shown an interest in family, community, and national affairs. Must write a 500-word essay on what they would do if they won this award and how this award will help them achieve their goal. NO COVER SHEET. See Mrs. Morris if you re interested. Must be fully admitted to the U of I by their priority application deadline or you cannot be considered for this award. Lions Club Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: 2 - $1,000 Applicant must be a senior at GHS. Some preference is given to Lion s Club Members children. Each applicant needs to list the scholarships they have applied for and any that have been awarded. Each applicant must list his or her grade point average. Deb Sandlund Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: $900 Must be entering the fields or science or education. Syringa General Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application

Interested students should send a personal resume including previous school activities, community involvement and intended goals for future education including the name of the college to be attended. James Graham Webb Memorial Scholarship use Local Scholarship Application Dollar Amount: 2 - $2,000, renewable Recipient must be a US citizen and have a cumulative grade point average of no less than Applicant should have been in high school debate or oratory activities, music, student government, mock trial, theater, or journalism (either school paper or yearbook) activities. Recipient must be pursuing an education in study of communications or an associated major with emphasis on radio/television, or in the fields of speech, oratory, debate, music, theater, or law. Recipient must maintain a 2.75 grade point average in their four years at college. Applicants shall type a double spaced 300-word essay on the value of the field of communication and why he or she has chosen this field. Greg Hill Memorial Scholarship Preference given to applicant who is interested studying some aspect of flight: aeronautic engineering or related science or medical program, though all are encouraged to apply. Must type a double spaced 300-word essay on the program of study they will be attending and how that science program is related to the study of aeronautics or flight. Tony Haener Memorial Scholarship Dollar Amount: Not less than $500 GHS graduate. Application, essay. Must have an interest in a vocational school and career. Gail Foltz Memorial Girls Track/Girls Athletic Scholarship Dollar Amount: $300 Must have been an athlete during your senior year. Track will be given preference, but any sport may apply. Thomas Lindsley Family Music Scholarship to a male, $500 to a female applicant Must be interested and active in music, show exemplary character.
