2 ODAA 2014 SUMMER CONFERENCE ** DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TRAINING WENDESDAY, AUGUST 13, am 4pm This one-day training is open to prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and domestic violence prevention advocates and will feature Russell Strand, Chief of the U.S. Army Military Police School Family Advocacy Law Enforcement Training Division Mr. Strand established and developed the U.S. Army Domestic Violence Intervention Training and Child Abuse Prevention and Investigation Techniques courses. Mr. Strand also developed the revolutionary interview technique known as the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI) and was awarded the 2012 End Violence against Women International Visionary Award. The Visionary Award is designed to recognize individuals for their vision and leadership in ending violence against women. It is given to an individual who has advanced the field through research or practice, which has increased public awareness of the problem of violence against women and improved the response of criminal justice and community systems. The Department of Justice has secured funding through its partnership with the Clackamas County Chiefs Association and the Oregon District Attorneys Association to provide this full-day training to prosecutors, law enforcement, and domestic violence advocates, including materials and refreshments. There are conference seats available for up to 100 law enforcement officers, 60 prosecutors, and 40 advocates. Law Enforcement personnel and advocates will need to provide their own lodging, meals, and transportation without reimbursement by DOJ. Prosecutors must register separate from law enforcement officers and advocates.
