1 Master of Christian Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice (SCCJ.M) The online M.S. of Christian Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice degree requires 36 credit hours regardless of whether a focus area is pursued. The classes in the behavior track will replace three graduate courses approved by your academic advisor. The Division of Criminology and Criminal Justice offers a graduate curriculum leading to the Masters of Christian Science (SCCJ.M) degree. The Division of Christian Criminology and Criminal Justice offers a program of study designed to provide students a broad-based understanding of the criminal justice system and society s response to crime with a biblical point of view. A major goal of the program is to develop understanding of the applied and theoretical aspects of crime and criminal justice. The program provides a high degree of flexibility and allows students to tailor the program to match their own graduate interests. Core coursework consists of classes in the theoretical foundations of criminology and criminal justice, methodology, and criminal justice policy analysis. Special focus on the internal administrative/operational impact and ultimately the external environmental impact of recent policy initiatives in policing, corrections, and restorative justice. 5. SCCJ583 Organizational Culture in Criminal Justice Agencies Course examines organizational culture in criminal justice in terms of the structures, processes, and values shaping employee behavior (including occupational isolation, administrative estrangement, territorial responsibility, and risk-taking). Factors influencing organizational culture are analyzed along with leadership's role in creating and changing it. 6. SCCJ603 Applying Criminal Justice Theory, Research and Policy Application of knowledge and best practices by formulating, implementing, analyzing and evaluating a program or policy within a criminal justice agency. 7. SCCJ613 Class, Race and Gender in Criminal Justice An examination of how class, race and gender structure experiences within the criminal justice system. Explores class, race and gender in terms of criminal victimization, patterns of offending and roles within each part of the criminal justice system, including police, courts and corrections. SCCJ633 Governance and Organizational Leadership Examine accountabilities of nonprofit governance. Analyze governing board and executive director roles in leading change, decision processes, and modeling ethical behaviors. Explore strategies that position organization for Third Sector leadership. SCCJ643 Strategic Leadership Study the techniques necessary for becoming a strategic leader with the skills and competencies needed to mobilize followers and organizations for effective current-day action in preparation for future challenges, threats, and opportunities. The Human Behavior Focus within the online Master of Science in Criminology degree requires 9-credit hours of coursework. The required courses are outlined below and can be taken online, on campus, or both as a blended program. Human Behavior Curriculum SCCJ653 Seminar in Theories of Personality Examine personality development from many theoretical orientations, including: psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, dispositional, and learning theory. Evaluate the impact of social variables, such as culture and gender and their contribution to personality development. SCCJ663 Social Psychology Study major themes in the discipline of social psychology from an interdisciplinary perspective, with an emphasis on practical professional application. Topics include social cognition, prejudice, aggression, attraction, persuasion, conformity, pro social behavior, and body image. SCCJ683 Abnormal Psychology Gain an overview of abnormal psychology through classifications and diagnostic criteria of selected mental disorders using an integrative perspective. Understand the role of neurophysiology and genetics in mental disorders, environment, developmental issues, and prevention. Course: Thesis Research Project (9 credits 50,000 words Course #:SCCJ700 Master Thesis: This final course culminates the entire course of studies and research required by this program. This is a very involved endeavor and will require an undivided attention. Student allowed choosing their own research topic and getting it approved by the Thesis Review Board. Upon the approval of the research topic, a proposal containing the first three chapters, table of content and partial bibliography must be submitted to The

5 Thesis Review Board. A fee of three hundred ($350.00) dollars must be submitted with the proposal. Proposal will not be reviewed without this fee. The Review Board will review the research proposal. The board will either approve it, approve it with recommendations, or denied it. If the thesis is denied, a separate fee will be required for revisions. Students are solely responsible to present the research project as required the first time to avoid any denial proposal and extra fee. Upon the final review and grading of the final research project, the student will submit two bound copies to the school. One will be graded, endorse, and return to the student and one copy will remain the property of the school.
