3 Message from the Chair Providing services that contribute to a safe and healthy community is an important priority for Regional Council. With the province estimating that the number of seniors in Halton will more than double to over 150,000 by 2031, Halton Region is committed to ensuring quality services are in place to meet the needs of seniors now and in the future. Seniors are an integral part of our community. In 2014, through the development of the Halton Older Adult Plan, Halton Region will assess the impact of the growing older adult population on our policies, programs and services to ensure we are well positioned moving forward. We need to identify what resources will be required in the future and how we will work with other levels of government to meet the needs of Halton seniors. The Halton Seniors Directory is a key resource that has provided valuable information to seniors, caregivers and service providers since Halton Region s Elder Services Advisory Committee (ESAC) developed the directory to provide seniors with a user-friendly reference guide that highlights the extensive range of services available to seniors in Halton. The 2014 edition has been enhanced to provide a comprehensive listing of web addresses that direct readers to more detailed information that can be obtained online. In addition to the online Halton s Seniors Directory, ESAC also offers a number of other informative publications that can be accessed at I encourage seniors and their families to visit our website for information about the Region s long-term care homes, adult day programs and assisted living/supportive housing programs. I would like to congratulate ESAC for the work they do each day on behalf of seniors in Halton. Thank you for helping make Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire. Sincerely, Gary Carr Regional Chair 1
