Alwys test nd reset the Steemer A.L.C.I. plug. 2. Do not immerse the hnd-held nozzle of the Oreck Steemer. 3. Do not llow the lower recovery tnk to overfill. 4. Do not use to clen out thtus, flooded sements or ny plce where the liquid depth exceeds 1 8. Trouleshooting Guide WARNING: Unplug cord from electricl outlet efore servicing. PROBLEM Wter nd clening solution is not dispensing onto crpet or upholstery. Not removing certin stins. Hevy trffic re spots. Crpet is excessively wet fter clening. Note: Under norml conditions, crpet my tke up to four hours or longer to completely dry. Drying time depends on comintion of vrious fctors including: crpet type, crpet pile thickness, temperture, humidity, ir circultion nd the numer of wet psses. Excessive foming t spry tips. Drk streks on crpet fter clening. Steemer rush roll will not turn. Clener will not run or suddenly stops. SOLUTION Check tht the upper supply tnk is prtilly filled with hot tp wter. Cution: Do not overfill. Check tht clener crtridge is instlled nd tht the white lever is locked in the downwrd position. Due to pressuriztion, the clener will not properly operte without clener crtridge in plce. If the clener crtridge is empty, replce it with full crtridge. Check tht the spry tips re not clogged. Use towel or dmp cloth to clen. For ove-the-floor clening, check tht the hnd-held nozzle nd hose ssemly is properly connected to the clener neck. Also, insure tht the nozzle chnge utton hs een engged. For est results, use stin pretretment, such s Full Relese Professionl Spot & Stin PreClener. These solutions loosen nd rek down most common household grese, oil, nd food stins. Mke severl slow psses over the stin from different ngles. Mke t lest one dditionl pss over the wet crpet without pressing the clener spry utton. Check tht the hnd-held nozzle trigger is not engged. With ech pss, slowly pull the unit towrd you to extrct ny remining liquid in the crpet. To speed drying, gently push the nozzle deep into the crpet pile. Check for ir pth ostructions in the stir/upholstery hose, clener neck nd in the nozzle. Check to insure tht the inlet screen is free of deris. Check tht the upper supply tnk hs wter. Operte the mchine more slowly; you will chieve etter results with one slow pss thn severl fst strokes. Overlp ech pss to provide mximum clening without streking. On high trffic res or hevily soiled crpets, it is occsionlly eneficil to llow the crpet to dry nd repet the process s needed to chieve optiml clening. Check tht the nozzle power cord is completely connected to the min unit. If n ostruction stlls the rush roll, the elt is designed to urn through so s to protect the motor. Plese insure through inspection tht the rush roll is free of ostructions nd is free to turn. Secondly, mke sure tht the elt is in good working order. Replce the elt if needed. If the elt nd the rush roll ecome excessively wet, momentry slippge cn occur. By running the unit on dry section of crpet for minute or less, the elt will function properly. Reinsert the plug if it hs slipped out of the outlet. The A.L.C.I. my hve tripped off due to fluctutions in household current. Press the reset utton nd restrt the unit. ALL OTHER SERVICING SHOULD BE DONE BY AN ORECK AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER. 3

Ly the clener on flt surfce with the tnk side down or to its side.. Slide hndle into clener ody until interlock is secured. c. Insert four 5 8 screws (included) into the four cvities in the hndle se nd tighten. fig. 2 Attch Wheels:. Locte two wheels nd two support legs.. Insert the wheels () into the support legs () y pushing the wheels in until they snp into plce. fig. 3 Attch Nozzle: 7 25 NOTE: Before using, plese red the importnt sfety nd operting instructions Turn the unit so tht the tnk is fce up.. Align the nozzle so the nozzle chnge utton is in line with the corresponding hole in the nozzle. Depress the smll nozzle chnge utton nd slide the nozzle over the unit shft until the utton locks into plce. fig. 4 Plug the smll power nozzle cord connected to the nozzle into the receptcle in the ck of the unit.

6 Servicing of Doule-Insulted Applinces A doule-insulted pplince is mrked with one or more of the following: The words Doule Insultion or Doule Insulted or the doule-insultion symol ( ). In doule-insulted pplince, two systems of insultion re provided insted of grounding. No grounding mens it is provided on doule-insulted pplince, nor should mens for grounding e dded to the pplince. Servicing douleinsulted pplince requires extreme cre nd knowledge of the system nd should e done only y qulified service personnel. Replcement prts for doule-insulted pplince must e identicl to the prts they replce. Polriztion Instructions: To reduce the risk of electric shock, the Oreck Steemer model is equipped with polrized lternting current line plug ( plug hving one lde wider thn the other). This plug will fit into polrized outlet only one wy. This is sfety feture. If you re unle to fit the plug fully into n outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fil to fit, contct qulified electricin to replce the osolete outlet. Do not defet the purpose of the polrized plug in ny wy. A.L.C.I The Oreck Steemer is mde to doule-insulted specifictions nd is equipped with n A.L.C.I. (Applince Lekge Circuit Interrupter). The A.L.C.I. shuts off the unit in potentilly hzrdous situtions. fig. 5 The A.L.C.I. hs Test nd Reset utton which should e tested ech time the unit is plugged in.. Do not remove the tg which provides test instructions from round the cord t the A.L.C.I. (A.L.C.I. my vry from illustrtion). DANGER: Improper instlltion of A.L.C.I. cn result in electric shock. Do not modify or ypss the A.L.C.I. Do not replce ny electricl component in this product with nything other thn n uthorized ORECK replcement prt. The risk of electric shock cn result if used in the vicinity of improperly grounded sttionry pplinces (stove, refrigertor, wsher, etc.). To Set-Up Clener The Oreck Steemer crpet nd hrd flooring clener is designed for fst nd esy set-up. fig. 6 Swing the wheels wy from the nozzle into the operting position. Remove the supply/recovery tnk: fig. 7 Pinch the tnk relese ltch together nd gently lower the ltch to the nozzle. Do Not Force Ltch! fig. 8 Push the supply/recovery tnk downwrd towrd the nozzle nd lift out. fig. 9 Fill the supply tnk:. Open the tnk cp.. Fill the tnk with hot tp wter to the fill line, s noted on the side of the tnk. CAUTION: Do not overfill tnk. Do not put ny type of shmpoo/clener into the supply tnk. fig. 10 Close tnk cp nd plce the tnk ck on the clener. Lift the ltch to slide the tnk upwrd into position until you her click, signling tht the tnk is securely locked into plce. Insert Clening Crtridge/Bottle: NOTE: Steemer will not operte without clener crtridge locked into the docking y. Use only Steemer Full Relese Professionl Crpet Clener crtridges, which re specificlly formulted to e residue-free. Other crpet shmpoo will leve residues in the unit tht will, over short period of time, clog the dispensing system nd void your wrrnty. Remove the clener crtridge/ottle cp. fig. 11 Insert the clener crtridge into the docking y on the side of the clener.. The directions on the clener crtridge must e fcing out.. Lock nd sel the crtridge in the clener y rotting the white lever on crtridge from top to ottom. Test nd reset the A.L.C.I.: fig. 5 Plug in the power cord. Press the test utton to shut off power. To reset the A.L.C.I., simply push in the reset utton on the plug. To Prepre Crpet Alwys vcuum thoroughly with n ORECK Vcuum Clener efore using the Oreck Steemer. It provides excellent crpet nd hrd floor clening on surfces tht re free of surfce deris. To chieve est results, high trffic res nd crpet stins should e pretreted prior to clening using Steemer Full Relese Professionl Spot & Stin PreClener. CAUTION: Before clening crpet for the first time, test smll re for color fstness. Pour smll mount of Steemer Full Relese Professionl Crpet Clener on clen white cloth nd lot crpet. Exmine this cloth for color removl; if color ppers on the cloth, the crpeting is not colorfst nd should not e clened with ny wet extrction process. NOTE: This product is not recommended for use on crpets mde from silk, velvet, wool nd some cotton lends. Check the mnufcturer s clening recommendtions. Operting Instructions To Clen Crpets fig. 12 Turn the Shmpoo/Rinse switch to the SHAMPOO position. fig. 13 Plce power switch in the ON position. fig. 14 Press the spry utton in the hndle nd while lifting the hndle slightly, slowly pull the clener ckwrds. Pressing the utton releses the clener nd wter mixture. As you pull the nozzle over the spryed floor the nozzle extrcts the solution from the floor nd stores the dirty wter in the recovery tnk. fig. 15 To move forwrd, slightly tilt the nozzle off the floor nd roll the clener forwrd. Repet process working in smll overlpping rows for even clening until the entire room hs een completed. WARNING: Do not push forwrd! Pull the clener towrds you to clen. This clener hs een specificlly designed to plce the nozzle deep into the crpet. Push down gently on the hndle to lift the nozzle out of the crpet to move forwrd nd reposition the clener. IMPORTANT: Adjust the speed of the clening stroke to your crpet. Hevily soiled or stined crpets will require slower strokes. Avoid oversturtion. To shorten the drying time, go ck over the floor pulling slowly ckwrds without depressing the spry utton. Repet this procedure until you do not see wter eing pulled through the nozzle. To Rinse Crpet fig. 12 Turn the Shmpoo/Rinse switch to the RINSE position. fig. 13 Plce power switch in the ON position. fig. 14 To rinse crpet, press the spry utton in the hndle. Slowly pull the clener ckwrds over lredy clened re. Pressing the spry utton releses clen wter. Turn the tnk upside down nd pour the dirty wter out. fig. 9 Refill the supply tnk with clen hot tp wter. Replce clener crtridge s needed. NOTE: Clener will not operte without clener crtridge locked into the docking y. For hevily soiled crpets it my e necessry to clen from severl directions to insure tht the crpet is thoroughly clened. To Clen Hrd Flooring (not Hrd Wood): CAUTION: Do not use steemer on hrd wood flooring. fig. 22Attch squeegee y first inserting one t on the squeegee end into the slot on nozzle. Then insert the t locted on other end of squeegee into the nozzle slot. To remove squeegee (fter use) gently pull the hndles locted on ech end of the squeegee until it releses. NOTE: Attch squeegee for hrd surfce clening. The following chrt is guide to usge, however, feel free to use it in mnner which you think is most effective depending on the surfce. The procedure section indictes the types of psses to use on the flooring. For exmple Shmpoo-Dry-Rinse-Dry mens, one shmpoo pss, then one dry pss, one rinse pss (wter only), then one dry pss. For Aove the Floor Clening - Crs, Stirs, Etc.: CAUTION: Set the utton in the hndle to the floor (ck) position when using the hnd held nozzle for extrction only. Unplug the clener from the electricl outlet. fig. 4 You will first need to unplug the seprte power nozzle cord tht connects the Steemer nozzle to the clener. fig. 3 Remove the nozzle y depressing the utton locted on the side of the neck. To Prepre Upholstery: IMPORTANT: Prior to clening ny upholstered furniture, red the following instructions very crefully. Most modern upholstery frics my e sfely clened y wet clening methods; yet there re exceptions to this, s some delicte or unusul frics require dry clening. If you re in dout out the type of fric, we suggest tht you check with the mnufcturer or deler where the furniture ws purchsed. Most frics re wer coded y the mnufcturer which detils clening methods for prticulr fric. If necessry, ring in cushion or rm cover to your deler.

Check the stuffing mteril if possile. Look inside cushions nd underneth the furniture. If the filling is colored, it my leed through nd discolor the furniture. If the upholstery is eing clened for the first time, CHECK FOR COLORFASTNESS. Test smll re severl hours efore strting to clen upholstery. Pour smll mount of Steemer Full Relese Professionl Upholstery Shmpoo on clen white cloth nd lot upholstery. Exmine the cloth for color removl. If color ppers on cloth, the upholstery is not colorfst nd should not e clened with wet extrction methods. Let test re dry completely. Inspect for chnges in color, leeding, stretching or shrinkge. Test nother re if in dout. This product is not recommended for use on silk, velvet, wool nd some cotton lends.
