1 NERI 1047 RETREPRENEUR TRAINING PROGRAM This program prepares participants to become Retrepreneurs in the residential energy retrofit industry sector. Retrepreneurs oversee the operations of residential energy retrofit retail organizations as Energy Improvement Project Managers (EIPM) or oversee operations of residential energy retrofit wholesale organizations as Residential Energy Practitioners (REP). During this program, the participant will determine whether to operate a retail business as an EIPM, a wholesale business as a REP, or both. An EIPM develops and maintains the business plan to manage the process and provides administrative and operational oversight for the installation of products and services for energy improvement retrofits, which improve the comfort, safety, and energy efficiency of a client s home. The REP develops and maintains the business plan to direct the marketing and implementation of specialty products and services used by retail organizations. The retailer procures the REP s products and services as a part of whole house retrofit projects. Contact Hours: 40 This program is recommended for individuals transitioning their existing business model within the construction industry from the residential/light commercial sector to the retrofit sector, as well as for entrepreneurs starting a new business within the retrofit sector or adding a line of business to existing operations. Individuals participating in this program should have access to the capital and resources needed to start and/or operate a small business and be capable of the following: Apply a systematic approach to carry out tasks Establish and maintain effective business relationships with other organizations Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills Organize, direct, and perform supervisory duties Maintain and adjust timelines and work schedules Express complex ideas concisely and clearly, orally and in writing Use personal computers and related software $1400 Members $1700 Non Members Page 1

2 Retrofit Broker Certificate Program This certificate program is specifically designed for displaced and/or underemployed real estate and housing professionals who can leverage their skills and expertise in serving property owners. Real estate professionals can introduce property owners to the process and benefits of residential energy efficiency including saving money and resources, increasing marketability of the property and increasing the comfort and value of the property. Retrofit Broker This program prepares participants to become Retrofit Brokers in the residential energy retrofit industry sector. A Retrofit Broker is responsible for the marketing and promotion of retrofit services to property owners. 3 NERI 1043 RESIDENTIAL ENERGY CLIENT SERVICE COORDINATOR (RECSC) TRAINING PROGRAM This program prepares participants to become Residential Energy Client Service Coordinators (RECSC) in the residential energy retrofit industry sector. A RECSC is responsible for the accurate, timely, and professional coordination of activities throughout the Energy Improvement Design Build Process between the client and stakeholders (e.g., funding partners, rebate aggregators, artisan contractors, internal support staff, clients/customers etc.), as well as the wholesale and/or retail sales of products and services. This program is recommended for individuals from the customer service, construction industries, and/or housing professionals interested in working in an office environment and possess the ability to: Apply a systematic approach to carry out tasks Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in person, and over the phone Provide clients with attentive, courteous and informative service Express complex ideas concisely and clearly, orally and in writing Calculate rate, ratio and percent; ability to convert units of measurement Use personal computers and related software Contact Hours: 40 Work at a computer for long periods of time $1400 Members $1700 Non Members Page 3

4 NERI 1046 RESIDENTIAL ENERGY PERFORMANCE ADMINISTRATOR (REPA) TRAINING PROGRAM This program prepares participants to become Residential Energy Performance Administrators (REPA) in the residential energy retrofit industry sector. A REPA is in charge of aggregating, dispersing, and cataloging data during the design phase of the Energy Improvement Design Build Process to facilitate the accurate, timely, and professional completion of all design tasks resulting in contracts to retrofit the client s home to be more energy efficient and comfortable. The REPA will also clearly and precisely inform stakeholders (e.g. RECSC, auditors, raters, funding partners, etc.) of project results and status. This program is recommended for individuals from the construction industry or housing professionals interested in working in an office environment and possess the ability to: Apply a systematic approach to carry out tasks Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Demonstrate effective communication skills Maintain and adjust timelines and work schedule Express complex ideas concisely and clearly, orally and in writing Calculate rate, ratio and percent; ability to convert units of measurement Develop written reports and action plans Use personal computers and related software Work at a computer for long periods of time Contact Hours: 35 NOTE: Individuals who enjoy the design aspects the traditional auditor role are ideal candidates to fulfill the responsibilities of the REPA role. $1225 Members $1525 Non Members Page 4

5 NERI 1045 FIELD PROJECT MANAGER (FPM) TRAINING PROGRAM This program prepares participants to become Field Project Managers (FPM) in the residential energy retrofit industry sector. A FPM coordinates all build phase activities, maintains the organization s project schedule, and facilitates all quality assurance activities to ensure all internal and external stakeholders execute their assignments on time, within budget, and meets or exceeds established quality standards with maximum efficiency. Contact Hours: 35 This program is recommended for individuals from the construction industry interested in working in both field and office environments and possess the ability to: Apply a systematic approach in carrying out tasks Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Demonstrate effective communication skills Maintain and adjust timelines and work schedule Develop written reports and action plans Use personal computers and related software Perform basic skills using standard industry tools Effectively perform in confined spaces Physical mobility to climb ladders, access crawlspaces, attics, roofs Lift more than 50 pounds Applicable vehicle operator s license $1225 Members $1525 Non Members Page 5

6 NERI 1044 NERI ENERGY IMPROVEMENT MODEL FOR RESIDENTIAL ENERGY RATERS This program prepares certified Home Energy Raters to participate in the NERI Energy Improvement Design Build Consortium Model. Contact Hours: 20 Participants must be a RESNET Certified Home Energy Rater before enrolling in this course. $700 Members $1000 Non Members NERI 1042 NERI ENERGY IMPROVEMENT MODEL FOR RESIDENTIAL ENERGY AUDITORS This program prepares certified Building Analyst to participate in the NERI Energy Improvement Design Build Consortium Model. Contact Hours: 20 Participants must be a BPI Certified Building Analyst before enrolling in this course. $700 Members $1000 Non Members NERI 1040 NERI ENERGY IMPROVEMENT MODEL FOR RESIDENTIAL WEATHERIZATION TECHNICIANS This program prepares certified Weatherization Technicians to participate in the NERI Energy Improvement Design Build Consortium Model. 7 NERI ID Phase Management for Retrofit This program is designed for Energy Improvement Project Managers (EIPM) and individuals contracted to provide third party phase management (typically RECSCs, REPAs, and FPMs). This course introduces the oversight responsibilities associated with phase management. Details are provided regarding how to maintain the project schedule, manage the document repository, and reinforce stakeholder expectations throughout the design build phases. This course introduces participants to the tasks associated with personnel management within the Energy Improvement Design Build Consortium Model including: identifying skill sets, preparing work assignments, performing quality assurance activities, identifying and addressing performance gaps, and providing timely feedback.
