3 Culinary Management If you love to cook and work well with others, a career in culinary management may be your passport to success. Learn in state-of-the-art facilities including HCC s very own gourmet kitchen. Classes will prepare you to operate the kitchen in any restaurant. Accreditation The culinary management program and courses are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation, Inc. s Accrediting Commission at 180 Center Place Way, St. Augustine, Florida
4 Dietetic Technician This 64-credit-hour associate in science program will prepare you to be a dietetic technician or a technical assistant to the food service director in a food or nutritional care facility. Dietetic technician students learn supervisory skills, menu planning, diet instruction, food purchasing, therapeutic cookery, safety and sanitation, and supervision of food production. If you have the ability to communicate and collaborate, solve problems, and apply critical thinking skills and you love cooking, helping others, and believe that health and well-being are priorities, then a career in dietetics may be your golden ticket to victory. Accreditation The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) has granted Full Accreditation to the Dietetic Technician associate in science degree program at Hillsborough Community College. Graduates of ACEND accredited programs are eligible to write the CDR registration examination for dietetic technicians. The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), 120 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL , or x 5400.
5 Hospitality & Tourism Management Learn to manage a hotel, resort, club, marina, or convention center. Learn in state-of-the-art facilities including HCC s Gourmet Room and front desk facility. If you have an entrepreneurial drive and promotion and sales come natural, a degree in hospitality & tourism management may be your career destination. Obtain an AS degree at HCC and you may continue your studies by pursuing a bachelor s in hospitality administration/management at universities with articulations in Florida and the University of Houston in Texas. Join the Hospitality Club where education & practical experience meet with local opportunities in food service companies, hotel/motel, and resort companies. 6 Restaurant Management Manage your own restaurant, hotel, bar, or catering agency or run one for someone else with the skills you acquire in this program. Learn to purchase, prepare, store, promote, display, and serve food. The Gourmet Room is a state-of-the-art restaurant facility where you learn dining room service skills in a hands-on environment with real customers. Graduates may earn an associate in science degree in restaurant management. Laboratory/Practicum Internships Opportunities HCC students gain on-the-job experience through internship training courses at area businesses. 7 The Gourmet Room Located at the Dale Mabry Campus, the Gourmet Room provides hands-on experience in a real working restaurant environment.
