2 JonathanPlimo Centre for Tourism, Travel Jonathan Plimo Ng'oriarita is an assistant lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management, Moi University - Kenya. He graduated with a Masters degree in Tourism Management in 2009 from Moi University and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree from Moi University in the year 2003 with speciality in Geography and Economics. He is currently pursuing his PhD studies in Tourism Management at Moi University. His research and teaching interests include Tourism development for peace, harmony& development, Tourism Economics, Tourism Planning & development, Genuine community participation in Tourism development & Management, Capacity Building, Tourism and poverty alleviation, Community based conservation and tourism initiatives, gender issues in conservation and tourism, Sports Tourism and community development, human resources issues in travel, tourism and hospitality and tourism and the environment. he Centre for Tourism, Travel is a research group combining leading institutions in the fields of tourism, travel and Thospitality in Kenya. It is one of the research groups of its kind devoted to the cause of tourism, travel and hospitality academics and research. The center is dedicated to tourism and hospitality research and supports all areas of inquiry that directly and indirectly affects tourism, travel and hospitality operations and management. The main activities of CTTHR are fundamental research, applied research and consultancy, training and tailor-made courses and knowledge dissemination by publications and conferences. Through its activities, the Centre links university-based researchers with the business sector and organisations, as well as local, governmental and non-governmental bodies. The centre will in future work closely with Moi University Innovation Firm. RitaNthiga Key research areas: The centre specialises in research, training and consultancy in the fields of: Rita Nthiga is a Lecturer at the Department of Hotel and Hospitality Management, School of Business and Economics, Moi University Kenya. She Holds a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management from Moi University and a Master of Science in Tourism Management from Kenyatta University. She is currently a PhD Tourism Travel Hotel and Hospitality student at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Her research interests include tourism as a tool for poverty reduction, tourism partnerships in biodiversity governance, biodiversity conservation and livelihoods. She has published articles in various fields and presented several papers in various international conferences on tourism and hospitality.

3 Services the centre may provide include: PeterMutinda Peter M. Mutinda is a lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management, Moi University - Kenya. He completed a Masters in Tourism Tourism Policy, Planning and Development Tourism Need Assessment and Strategic Planning Hospitality Tourism Demand and Supply Modeling Management in 2008 from Moi University. He is currently pursuing his PhD studies. His research interests include protected area management and wildlife tourism, community based conservation and tourism initiatives, gender issues in conservation and tourism, human resources issues in travel, tourism and hospitality and tourism and the environment.he has published numerous articles and presented several papers at international conferences on tourism. Rop is a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management, Moi university-kenya. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management in 2006 and Masters in Tourism Management in June 2012, both from Moi University. Her teaching and research focus interest are mainly in Leisure and Recreation, Agri-tourism,Tourism Product Development and Policy analysis, domestic tourism and training Coastal and Marine Tourism Research Environmental conservation and management management, Language and tourism and developments studies. She has published articles in various fields and presented several papers in various international conferences on tourism.

4 Dr. BeatriceImbaya ResearchStaff he centre brings together an outstanding body of researchers with Dr. Beatrice Ohutso Imbaya holds Ph.D in Tourism Management from Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya and researches in Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Management and Development. She has published numerous articles in this areas and presented several papers at academic fora. Her teaching career, both at tertiary and university level spans a period of 23 years. She has held several administrative responsibilities including serving as the Head of Department of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at The Eldoret Polytechnic for 7 years and Deputy Principal of Friends College Kaimosi and Kisumu Polytechnic in Kenya for 3 years. Currently, she is a Lecturer and the Coordinator of Post Graduate Studies in the Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management at Moi University. knowledge in a range of relevant disciplines that can be linked to a wide range of issues in tourism, travel and hospitality. Research staff Tinvolved in CTTHR include: Prof. BobWishitemi Prof. MosesOkello Dr. JacquelineKorir Dr. Jacqueline Korir holds a Ph.D. in Tourism Management, a Masters' in Hospitality Management and Bachelors in Hotel and Hospitality Management all from Moi University, where she serves as a lecturer in the Department of Hotel and Hospitality Management. Prior to joining the university and after completing her studies in information technology at Strathmore College, she worked with the National Bank of Kenya for fourteen years as an account manager. In addition, she worked for Kenya National Assurance Company for four years as a computer operator. By virtue of her deep research interests in entrepreneurship, event management, service quality and hospitality management, she has not only published in refereed articles in her field, but has also presented at international and national conferences. Furthermore her inspiring book entitled, Diet of Worms, that examined the quality of catering in Kenyan prisons has been instrumental in providing insights that have the potential of improving diet practices in this correctional institution. Driven by her passion for her students' success, she effectively instructs, mentors, and supervises students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Jacqueline is an active Board Member of the Empowering the Children of the Village Inc., a not-for-profit organization based in the United States and Kenya that facilitates the provision of educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in Ngechek Village. 5 Prof. MosesOkello Prof. BobWishitemi ob Wishitemi is Professor of Tourism and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research & Extension at Moi University He is the Chairman of the Kenya BRevenue Authority-Income Tax Local Committee for Western Kenya and a member of the Academic Board of the Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees. Prof. Wishitemi served as Head, Department of Wildlife Management (Moi University) in 1989; Principal, Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (Naivasha) in 1995; Head, Department of Wildlife Management (Moi University) in 1998; and Head, Department of Tourism Management (Moi University) in He has also served as Acting Dean, Schools of Natural Resource Management and Business and Economics; and as Acting Principal, Chepkoilel Campus of Moi University. He has also been involved in proposal writing, grant negotiations, projects management, programme administration, and has been involved in the formulation and revision of Moi University Policies. His specific fields of research interest include: Wildlife conservation and Tourism; Community based conservation initiatives; Conservation and Management of protected Areas Biodiversity: plans and strategy development & implementation; Cross-Border conservation and its impact on conservation and tourism activities; Wildlife-Based Tourism in Kenya; Land use-chances in Savannah wildlife areas of Kenya and impacts on tourism; and Pro-Poor Tourism Development. He has written over 60 research papers in refereed journals in the areas of Wildlife Conservation and Management, Community-Based Conservation initiatives, Wildlife Based Tourism and Pro-Poor Tourism Development, and attended International and National Conference, Seminars and Workshops and several professional courses. Wishitemi has supervised 15 D.Phil., and 50 M. Phil candidates to successful completion. Prof. Moses Makonjio Okello is currently the Director of the School for Field Studies (SFS) programs in East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania). After getting his B. Sc. in Wildlife Management from Moi University, he joined the University of Idaho (USA) for his M.Sc. in the same field and graduated in He did his Ph.D. at the University of Alberta in Wildlife Ecology and Management, graduating in He returned to Kenya as a lecturer in the department of Wildlife Management at Moi University until 1999 when he joined SFS as a lecturer. He rose through the academic ranks in SFS, publishing extensively, presenting at academic fora and serving on two international journals as an editor. He held several administrative responsibilities at both Moi University and SFS Kenya over the past 21 years. He was appointed the Director of SFS Center for Wildlife Management Studies in June Dr. DamiannahKieti Dr. Damiannah M. Kieti is a senior lecturer of tourism at Moi University, where she has taught since She won a Commonwealth University Scholarship and earned a Ph. D in Tourism Management from MoiUniversity in 2008 having undertaken research in the UK at the University of Wales institute, Cardiff. Her research interests include tourism and poverty reduction and the teaching of sustainable tourism, wildlife based tourism and community based tourism. She has published numerous articles in both areas and presented several papers at international conferences on tourism. She was appointed Chair of School of Business and Economics Graduate Studies Committee in She is currently the Head of Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management at MoiUniversity. She has supervised 3 D.Phil., and 10 M. Phil candidates to successful completion. Currently she is Editor-in-Chief of Africa Journal of Tourism and Hospitality, Interim Chairperson of Kenya Association of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Educators and Ag. Dean, School of Tourism, Event management.
