Note : This document deals with enodview software in its G version (V708-G) or later. For the instructions related to a previous version of enodview, please refer to the document entitled UI_eNodView_ B. 1 PRESENTATION enodview is the software dedicated to enod3 configuration from a PC. Its simple graphical interface allows to access the whole functionnalities of enod3 for a complete setting according to the application. enodview features and functions : - enod3 remote control from a PC - system calibration - save/change of all parameters - measurement acquisition with graphical display - digital filters simulation - FFT frequency analysis - process monitoring The software is available in English and French version and can be downloaded from our web site : or ordered to our sales department on a CD support. 2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Using enodview software requires at least the following configuration : - O/S : Windows 2000/XP/Vista - processor : pentium III 800 MHz or more - RAM : 256 MB - Hard drive free space : 200 MB - peripherals : CD-ROM drive, RS232 COM port or USB port with converter 3 INSTALLATION 3.1 enod3 network enodview software allows the user to carry out read/write transactions between a PC and any enod3 of a RS485 or RS422 network. The conection to the network can be performed by using a 485 to 232 or 485 to USB converter. PLC PC SCMBus or ModBUS-RTU 3/22

3.2 Point-to-point connection enod-3 assistant enod3 can be connected to a PC through a RS232 serial port. If no serial COM port is available on the PC, a RS232 to USB converter might be used. RS232 PC enodview is compatible with both two communication protocols used by enod3 (SCMBus and ModBus-RTU) and is self-adaptive. The current protocol and the type of card to be used (checkweigher or dosing version) are automatically recognized at the connection time. 4 FUNCTIONING MODES According to the choosen connexion, enodview comprises three functioning modes : - enod3 configuration - enod3 network monitoring - graphical analysis 4.1 enod3 configuration This is the main part of enodview. It is used to communicate with one enod3 of the network and gives access to the whole of its functionalities (communication, settings, calibration, visualization and data acquisition). See the corresponding sections. 4.2 enod3 network monitoring This functioning mode is a way to display simulatenous measurement values of an enod3 netwok. The maximum number of enod3 displayed is limited to 16. Thus, their addresses must be within a range of 16 consecutive addresses. 4/22

enod3 network monitoring first window Before beeing able to display measurement values, the software needs to determine the following characteristics to know the network status : - the communication protocol - the baud rate - the addresses of the connected enod3 These settings must be determined by using the Automatic detection procedure. This can be done by executing the following steps : 1) Select in the list the serial COM port connected to the network 2) Choose in the list the first of the 16 consecutive addresses to scan 3) Launch the procedure by clicking on the Automatic detection button The whole 16 displayed addresses are scanned at the different baud rate supported by enod3 device (9600, 19200, 38400, or bauds). The procedure can be interrupted before it ends however it is necessary to complete it to establish the network status. When the Automatic dection is finished, click on Visualization to access the display window. On this window it is possible to choose the displayed measurement (net, gross or A/D in converter points). Each detecetd enod3 is displayed but can be desactivated at any time and can receive a tare or a zero request without affecting the others. At last, an average or a sum bewteen the selected enod3 measurements can be performed by checking off the appropriate case on the top of the window. 5/22

Aspect of the window after a sucessful automatic detection measurement type selection start/stop measurement selection/activation of the operation to be perform enod3 address Measurement visualization 6/22

4.3 Graphical analysis enod-3 assistant This functioning mode can be used so as to simulate the effect of the different digital filters effects that are available for enod3. From a data text (*.txt) file acquired with enodview, time and frequency representations of the signal can be plot. So, the user is able to optimize the filters according to the performances required by his application (see 5.5.2). 5 CONFIGURE enod3 enodiew is especially dedicated to enod3 setup phase. In fact, the enod configuration functioning mode makes it easy to modify enod3 parameters. 5.1 Communication So as to carry out data transfers between enodview and an enod3 on the network, it is necessary to chosse the right software communication options. Then enter enod3 address (in hexadecimal). The different steps are as follows : 1) select in the list the serial COM port connected to the network 2) enter enod3 address you want to dialog with 3) choose in the list the serial baud rate 4) Click on the Connect button Note : If the address and/or the baud rate are unknown, use the Auto detection procedure as described in 3.2. When clicking on the address in the tab or on the green indicator, they are automatically recopied in the connection area at the bottom of the secreen. Just click then on the Connect button. 1) serial COM port selection Connection status indicator 4) Connect 2) enod3 address 3) baud rate selection 7/22

If connection can not be carried out, an error message may appear. In this case, check the address and the baud rate entered then the installation and enod3 power supply. If connection is successful, the connection status indicator turns to green and the other windows are not grayed anymore. They are accessible through the five titles at the top of the window. The following settings are read at the connection time : - firmware version (read only) - user text box (read/write) 5.2 Settings On this window a large majority of enod3 configuration options are regrouped. They describe the hardware and software functioning of the device. For complete explanations on how these parameters work, please refer to documents / (ModBus RTU protocol) and / (SCMBus communication protocol). Note : Depending on the connected enod3 model (C or D) the tab title changes : - Settings for enod3-c - Settings 2 for enod3-d Although a part of the settings are common to both models, the window organization differs when using enod3-c or enod3-d! Screenshot of the Settings window All the datas displayed are read in enod3 RAM memory. They correspond to the current functioning options Data transferts and memorization Data transfers to enod3 memory are carried out by clicking on the different Send buttons present on the page. enod3 memory is organized in two levels : - RAM memory : volatile memory that can be modified any time 8/22

- EEPROM memory : non-volatile memory in wich datas are stored on request At power-up or after a reset command, the whole enod3 configuration stored in EEPROM is loaded in RAM where real-time modifications can occur and become immediately effective. A few others, such as : - an address change - a baud rate modification - a communication protocol change - a functioning mode change - an A/D converter configuration modification - a stability criterion modification require a storage in EEPROM followed by a reset command or a power-up to become effective. In enodview, a simple system based on indicator s color allows the user to be aware of the current memorization status : there is an indicator on the right of each Send button. It can be of several colors giving the following indications. Parameter sent to enod3 that requires a storage in EEPROM Parameter sent to enod3 and taken into account Parameter only modified in enodview software Storage in EEPROM can be done by clicking on the Save in EEPROM button that is located at the left top corner of the Settings window. It commands a storage in EEPROM request followed by a reset request. enodview enables the saving of all parameters in a configuration file (*.txt) thanks to the Save current configuration button. The contents of the file might then be exported to any enod3 with Restore configuration command. For safety, the device can recover its initial configuration (corresponding to the one on delivery). It is performed by clicking on the Default settings button.! Default memory restoration causes enod3 to lose the stored calibration. Use the Default settings button only if necessary Communication settings This tab contains the three parameters necessary to define the communication serial line.they all need to be saved in EEPROM to become effective. Validation of a modification by a Save in EEPROM request induces ago back to the Communication page. To continue working with enod3 implies a new connection with actual parameters. Note : A fourth setting is accessible on this tab for enod3-d. It is called CAN bus baud rate and allows to select the appropriate baud rate for the CANopen communication Application settings The configurable settings depend on the choosen functioning mode. They are relative to the process and its features. The list is updated each time the fields Functioning mode and Types are modified in enodview. Only a change in these fileds requires a storage in EEPROM. 9/22

enod3-c : all the parameters related to the selected functioning mode are displayed on the Settings window. enod3-d : in the filling or dosing by unloading modes, a Dosing settings button appears so as to give access to the dosing process setup. Filling setup window screenshot A similar window is open if the selected functioning mode is dosing by unloading. Each of these windows allows to launch and monitor dosing cycles if the starting conditions are respected. Thus, hhe Start cycle button can be disabled and grayed if it is not the case Inputs/outputs assignement Two digital inputs and two (enod3-c) or four (enod3-d) logical outputs are available. They are totally configurable and their assignment is independant. The Debounce time is the only common setting that affects both two inputs. However, the Send button is used for the two inputs/outputs assignements transfert. The changes in inputs/outputs assingments do not require a storage in EERPOM. It becomes effective as soon are the datas are sent to enod. The possible assignements are updated every time the Fucntioning mode and Communication protocol fields are changed Filtering options The digital filters can be activated from this tab on the Settings page or from the simulation tool (see 5.5.2). A modification of the A/D conversion rate implies an EEPROM storage. The selectable frequencies depend on he Rejection switch position : - 50 Hz (from 6,25 meas/s up to 1600 meas/s) - 60 Hz (from 7,5 meas/s up to 1920 meas/s) The low-pass filter order and the coefficients are also accessible through the Display/modify coefficients button. 10/22

5.2.6 Metrology Digital filters configuration interface The Legal for trade or Initial zerosetting activation and the Motion criterion modification require a storage in EEPROM. If the Legal for trade option is used, the traceability metrological indicators (checksum and counter) become visible on te calibration window. 5.3 Calibration Calibration can be carried out following one of to the two diferent methods supported by enod3 : - Theoretcial setting : only possible if the sensor sensitivity is knwon - Physical calibration : consists in an interactive procedure using one or more known loads. Both methods are accessible through the buttons Theoretical setting and Physical calibration which are present at the middle of the Calibration page. The parameters related to each method are then displayed by the software Theoretical setting A thoretical setting implies the following steps : 1) Enter a sensitivity value in mv/v in the Sensor sensitivity case and a value (max = ) in the Sensor capacity field corresponding to the specified sensitivity. 2) Press the Send/start calibration button. 3) A confirmation message should appear. Then click on the Zero adjustment button and follow the displayed instructions. Note : The third step is only necessary if a calibration zero has not been previously acquired. The calibration effect can be checked thanks to enodview visualization tools presented in Physical calibration In a physical calibration procedure, serveral successive loads are put on the load cell plateform. Before launching the calibration procedure with the Send/start calibration button, choose an appropriate number of segments (generally 1 is sufficient, 2 or 3 segments shall be used in case 11/22

of non-linearity) and enter a number of points equivalent to each segment extremity (corresponding to each load to deposit). A window then opens. It gives the instructions to follow step by step the calibration procedure. When a request of acquisition is sent to enod3, it waits for the stability to be reached to acquire a value (in A/D converter points) that is reported in the right column of the window. The software indicates to the user when a new load shall be deposited. At any time, it is possible to interrupt the procedure by pressing the Cancel button. Be careful : if the proccedure aborts, both the new and the previous calibration are lost and enod3 has to be calibrated again Zero adjustment This function may be used to acquire a new zero for example in case of a zero drift. The scale coefficients calculated during the calibration procedure are not affected. It creates therefore a zero offset. The new zero acquisition is carried out the same way as the pysical calibration yet only the first step is involved (cf ). 12/22

Zero adjustment window Advanced options The Advanced options window comprises several complementary parameters used for enod3 functioning optimization : - the polynomial correction and the global scale adjusting coefficient used to affect or to improve the calibration without launching a procedure. - the A/D converter options used for enod3 adpatation to the sensor - the signal processing activation that allows to skip parts of the algorithm, improving the transmission speed on the bus in Transmitter mode (fast Transmitter). In Transmitter mode, skipping signal processing causes the polynomial correction, the digital filters (Butterworth and self-adaptive) and the set points management to be turned off. It allows to reach a rate of 600 meas/s in SCMBus protocol and 1200 meas/s in fast SCMBus format. So as to realize a vibratory analysis, it is recommanded to turn off the signal proceessing. 13/22

5.3.5 Polynomial correction Advanced options window A 2 nd order polynomial correction that suppresses the non-linearity effects is available with enod3 device (see document , user s instructions). Here is its formula : Corrected measurement = Meas a (Meas) 2 b(meas) c with Meas = current measurement The a, b abd c coefficients determination is carried out by enodview with a tool accessible on the advanced options window by pressing the Coefficients determination button. It consists in an experimental method in which several values (at least 3) representative of the sensor capacity are acquired in order to quantify the non-linearity error. 14/22

Coefficients determination environment To determine the values of a, b and c, follow the following steps : 1) If the measurement tab is not empty, first erase its content by pressing on the Reset tab button 2) Click on the Acquire value button and enter the value of the corresponding weight in the known load box. Note : always begin with acquisition of the dead load. 3) Repeat step 2) with a minimum number of two other loads. The last load must correspond to 75% of the sensor capacity. 4) When the tab contains at least 3 (more values means more precision in the non-linearity quantification) values click on the Calculate coefficients button. A window with graphs represenitng the correction efficiency must appear. 5) If the correction is sufficient click on the Send button to use the calculated coefficients. Unless the signal processing has been removed (see 5.3.4), it becomes immediately effective. 15/22

non-linearity error estimation 2 nd order approximation Example of curves obtained with acquisition of 5 representative values 2 nd order approximation for the acquired values error estimation after correction 5.4 Measure This page offers real-time visualization tools. Measurements and values calculated by enod3 can be displayed on a configurable graph. Depending on the enod3 reference in use, these variables are the followings : - innstantenous measurement (net, gross or A/D converter points) - checkweigher and peak control cycles results (enod3-c) - cycles results in filling and dosing by unloading modes (enod3-d) - inputs state - outputs state - motion - the average value, the running total, the standard deviation and the number of complete cycles. It is based on high speed answers/replies transmissions therefore this tool is not comptabile with continuous transmission mode (available in Transmitter functioning mode). Note : Depending on the enod3 reference in use (C or D), the tab title changes (the * indicate that the option is common to both enod3 cards) : - Measure for enod3-c : 16/22

When the Result curve plot is active (in Checkweigher and Peak control functioning mode), the results can be then displayed in an onther window and saved in a text file for analysis. Just press on the Results display button after acquisition to open the window. In checkweigher mode, for an better legibility, the calculated weight is displayed on a separate graph which automatically opens when the Result curve plot is active. enod3 commands Set points and trigger level display options motion indicator start/stop measurement axis configuration displayed curves selection and zoom tools motion indicator * : it corresponds to the current measurement value displayed on the measurement indicator. Its color is green if this measurement is stable, else it is red. enod3 commands * : - Tare * : requests a Tare operation whatever the functioning mode is. The tare is done when stability is reached. - Zero * : requests a Zero acquisition whatever the functioning mode is. The zero is only acquired if measurement is stable and if measurement is within a band of ± 10% of the specified capacity (on calibration page). - Clear * : depends on the current enod3 fucntioning mode : in Transmitter mode, Cancels the tare ; in Checkweigher functioning mode, resets the 17/22

cycle result ; in Peak control functioning mode, sets the Peak to peak value to zero ; in filling and dosing by unloading modes resets the cycle in progress and the calculated values. start/stop measurement * : triggers the transmissions and the curves plotting. In case of interruption followed by a restarting, the time basis is reset. The graph options modifications (set points and trigger level activation, axis configuration) are taken into account when clicking on Start. set points and trigger level display options : depending on their values, the set points and the trigger level can be displayed on the graph. They are represented as straight lines whose colors can be selected. axis configuration * : both axis scales can be entered in this area. The modificiations are taken into account at the beginning of the acquisition (when pressing on the Start button). displayed curves selection and zoom tools * : the inputs/outputs status, the measurement type (net, gross, A/D converter points) and the result can be displayed from this interface. Some visualization tools are present too, allowing to zoom on curves parts. They can be selected with the three buttons located under the inputs/outputs activation. results display : this button is used to open a window showing the results of Checkwiegher and Peak control cycles. These results can be saved in a text file by pressing the Save graph button. Max curve example in Peak control functioning mode. - Measure 2 for enod3-d : start cycle : this command sends a request for a new cycle (filling or dosing by unloading) to the device. timing diagram : contrary to enod3-c visualization, the digital I/O state for enod3-d is represented on an independant timing diagram. However, both graphs remains synchronous. 18/22

5.5 Graphical analysis Mesure 2 window enodview incorporates an interfacce especially dedicated to detailed graphical analysis. It is based on the signal acquisition and representation in time and frequency domains. This virtual tool enables to simulate the behaviour of the signal when enod3 filters are applied. This is an efficient and easy method to optimize the application settings and the filtering options Building an acquisition file This is the first step to achieve filter optimization. It consists in acquiring a signal that stands for the application normal functioning. So as to build this acquisition file, follow next steps : 1) On the Settings (1 or 2) page, choose the following settings : - communication protocol : fast SCMBus - baud rate : functioning mode : Transmitter - sampling period : 0 - A/D conversion rate : 800 or 960 meas/s - Digital low-pass filter : inactive - Band-stop digital filter : inactive - self-adaptive filter : inactive 2) On the Calibration page open Advanced options window and switch off Signal processing. 3) Save the whole changes in EEPROM by pressing the Save in EEPROM button on the Settings (1 or 2) page. 4) Re-connect to enod3 with the new baud rate. 5) Check all modifications have been taken into account then click on Graphical analysis. 6) In the transmission trigger source field, select serial command request or logical input (if an input is assigned to measurement window ). 19/22

7) If the transmission trigger source (selected in 6) ) is a serial command request, enter the acquisition duration in seconds ( 300). 8) Click on the Start acquisition command. Acquisition can be interrupted before it ends without any effect on the analysis. 9) Curves are plot by the software and all characteristics about the acquisition are displayed. 10) Open the Time display representation then click on the Save acquisition button after entering the recording start and end instants. The zoom and displacement tools used in Vizualisation are also available for time and frequency graphs.they are located in the upper right corner of the window Filters simulation Screenshot taken after an acquisition From an acquisition file created with enodview, filter effects can be simulated so as to choose the best filtering configuration adapted to the application. By clicking on the Load acquisition file button, a *.txt file is restored. Its features are displayed and the curves are plot. On the Filters simulation page, choose the filters you want to test, respecting their location in the measurement chain : A/D converter filter low-pass filter band-stop filter self-adaptive filter Note : The digital band-stop filter is not always available on enod3-c depending on the firmware version. The only filter that can not be shunted is the A/D Converter filter. Once a filter is active (after pressing on the Simulate button) the corresponding indicator under the sketch turns to green and the informations in the tab are updated. A simulated filter can be cancelled without restoring the acquisition file by clicking on the Cancel last filter button. 20/22

Filters activation indicators The filtered signals are displayed on the same graph in time domain but in frequency domain only the last FFT is plot on the graph. The cursors of the time display representation refer to the last filtered signal. A pop-up window appears when they are moved or when clicking on right mouse button or on the Values button. It shows the current cursors coordinates and the amplitude/time difference between them. Moreover, for enod3-c it calculates the theoretical checkweigher result that would be obtained if a cycle occured during the time defined by the cursors position. This system can be used so as to determine the stabilization time and the measuring time for Checkweigher functioning mode. 21/22

cursors coordinates time/amplitude intervals between cursors and theoretical checwkeigher result 2 nd order filtered curve cursors print/save interface filtered curve by changing the A/D conversion frequency 22/22
