3 MITCHELL D. MONSOUR, SR., FACHE Mitch Monsour is President of Mercator Health Advisors, a health consulting and rehabilitation management consulting firm founded in Mitch s insight and creativity are based on 32 years as a health executive with 21 of those years as a Hospital Administrator involved with a wide range of corporate cultures, including an Academic Center, a Catholic Health System, and a Voluntary Not-For-Profit Community Medical Center. Each experience offered insight into the unique mission and clinical role of individual hospitals and the realization that all healthcare is local. From his career experiences, he has developed a reputation for strategic and operational initiatives that have positively benefited his personal and client hospitals with major clinical program development in oncology, pediatrics and cardiology. In addition, his innovations in ambulatory campus design and delivery have been widely emulated. This includes his Medical Mall model that resulted in one of his projects being awarded the Build America Award by the Associated General Contractors of America. With an understanding of the major reimbursement changes facing the healthcare industry, Mitch s current focus is towards steering his clients towards new services in the full continuum of care where patient care can be rendered in the most appropriate setting. This philosophy has allowed him to create solutions that actually strengthened patient delivery while protecting the fiscal integrity of his client hospitals, in a changing climate. His contributions are also made with an understanding of community economic development in the form of new healthcare jobs and services a vital role of the health care industry. Recent engagements have involved rehabilitation services, emerging diagnostic trends, rural hospital opportunities, and health system strategic development. He truly understands that solutions rarely come easily, yet strongly believes that answers can almost always be found. The foundation for this is through his intensive research into the local healthcare climate and in turn matching his findings with the tasks at hand, with further recognition that recommendations must also carry forward through concept implementation and clear operational benchmarking. Again each client is unique, from academic medical centers to primary care hospitals to physician groups. Accordingly, Monsour has been recognized by his professional peers through terms as President of the Louisiana Young Administrators Forum and as President of Jackson-Vicksburg Health Council, in addition to his work on the Governor s Health Legislative Task Force. Such service has also extended to the community where he has served on the Executive Committee of the Mississippi Blood Services, Lifeshare Blood Centers of Louisiana, the Monroe YMCA, and his most recent appointment to the Board of the Mississippi Arthritis Foundation. He has also been honored for his leadership in positions with the United Way and as an active member of the Rotary. Monsour has served over 20 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Army and National Guard and has achieved Fellowship status in the American College of Health Executives. He received his BBA from the University of Mississippi and a Masters of Hospital Administration from George Washington University. Mitch has been married for 33 years to the former Jeanne Crouere and has four children.
