1 by Stephanie Currin, Southside Virginia Community College Cyber Course Transitions Course Plan Course Goal: This online course emphasizes the process of writing with activities designed to guide the student through the stages of creating, revising, editing work. By the end of the semester, the student should have a portfolio of writing containing evidence of all stages of the writing process should be prepared to complete English 111 successfully. This course provides students with a relevant writing foundation that can be applied to any of the Career Clusters. The transition focus of this course is Management Administration. Total Course Duration (weeks): 8-week session Intensity of Instruction (hours meetings per week): cyber course (4 credit hours = 4 hours / week) Targeted learners (skill level): ASE Low / ASE High Number of students per class: maximum of 30 students GED Content Unit Objectives Activities Common Core Stards & Focus Career Readiness Focus Time Alotted (e.g., class sessions or weeks) Course / College Orientation Etiquette: Introductions 1. 9 Sample Activity GED Activity Learning Objective At the lesson s end, the student will be able to convey experiences, either real or imaginary, to create a narrative text. You have been asked to share your experience with a group of young entrepreneurs who have hopes of owning their own businesses someday. Write a narrative of your success story, including the type of business you own, how you came up with the idea, how you managed to make it a success. This essay should be five paragraphs. (For additional help, see chapter on narrative writing in the textbook.) Respond to the Discussion Board topic with two or more paragraphs. Also, respond to two other students initial posts with at least three sentences.
