Designed to help practice managers with this career defining decision, it will discuss specific tools to help with the search and budget expectations, the implementation methodology for a successful transition, start-up strategies and costs, and return on investment calculations resulting from administrative process improvement. You will be able to develop strategies for conversion to electronic medical records to create an environment that bridges technology with continuous improvement to decrease costs and increase revenue. Receive tools to help with the search, budget, and implementation of Electronic Medical Records. Hear about the startup costs and ongoing costs compared to return on investment. Electronic Health Records Risk Management and Customer Service, A Wining Proposition! As more practices have or are going to electronic health records the focus on successful implementation for maximum impact on risk management and customer service become the defining difference in best practices. Learn how practices have used their EHR to improve their risk management opportunities and capitalize on customer service. Following this session you will know how to evaluate the common options and appropriate workflow decisions needed to make the sure your EHR will positively impact risk management and customer service in your practice. How to find the right IT Professional Many practices are implementing more and more technology to help with patient care. The need to keep these mission critical systems down time to a minimum and performance to a maximum is expensive and time consuming. The support needed to run a network for your

3 practice management system and internet is cumbersome, but the list grows once you start electronic prescribing, document imaging or electronic health records. Learn how to find the right combination of in-house and outside information technology support. Identify company characteristics consistent with your mission; learn how to evaluate IT specialists knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills. 4 Nancy is a consultant, speaker, and author who is passionate about helping practices of all sizes. She advocates for Physicians and Practice Managers, helping them provide quality healthcare in an efficient manner. She is a nationally recognized expert who specializes in Electronic Health Records (EHR), Information Technology, and general Practice Management. Nancy is a Fellow and Board Certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives. She is currently serving on the MGMA National Board of Directors as Immediate Past Co-Chair. Nancy was the Administrator of the Roswell Pediatric Center, in North Atlanta, for twenty three years. Nancy helped the Practice successfully implement two EHR s over 9 years. Roswell Pediatric Center won the 2003 Davies Award of Excellence from HIMSS, the Healthcare Information Management System Society, for successfully implementing electronic health records and improving their quality of care. Nancy then served on the Davies Ambulatory committee for five years and was Chair of the committee for two years. Nancy served on the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Practice Managers Leadership Team from 2007 to Nancy enjoys public speaking and writing, she recently co-authored the book Go-Live: Smart Strategies from Davies Award-Winning EHR Implementations.
