The complete Security Solution for SIP and Unified Communications designed by UM Labs UM-Labs Innovation in Security enables its customers to fully activate their entire business communications channel, ensuring secure voice infrastructure for all of a company s activities, including sensitive information that must be kept confidential, customer service info, marketing data and intellectual property. All this is going towards providing an improved risk management policy and a better return on investment. PBX Inter - Operation Secure VoLTE SIP Voice authentication and encrypted Secure VOIP over SIP TRUNKS BYOD Secure Enterprise Mobility for Voice Secure Desktop and Mobile Unified Voice Communications The UM-Labs Innovation in Security Showcase includes: Secure Communications at the touch of a button from the desk or mobile Simple connectivity to legacy phone systems Secure SIP Trunking for better ROI Secure Voice for Bring Your Own Device s Secure Networking and Community Building with no Eavesdropping Secure Virtual Business applications for Unified Communications 1 UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1
UM-Labs Innovation in Security showcase is the world s first Authentication and Encryption solution, which brings together Persona Management and End to End encryption across an enterprise voice network, allowing 21st century social business to be performed in safety, protected from corruption or eavesdropping. The aims are to deliver a breakthrough environment that decreases risk, reduces costs and improves communication across the business, gaining improved ROI from the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) unified communications. Business Collaboration using secure Unified Messaging There are many Unified Communication (UC) products that provide a full interactive solution for the Enterprise; in most cases solutions like Microsoft Lync, IBM SameTime, Avaya, and Cisco-Jabber are based on Internet Standards and key to all these is the Session Internet Protocol (SIP), this allows instant communication using the Internet. UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1 2
When connected, collaboration is easy, but is it secure and can it be disrupted? The straight answer is NO to secure and YES it can be disrupted. The Internet and IP networks are about ease of use and saving money; return on investment (ROI) in Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services will help the technology budget stretch further and help growth of new corporate IT services. These benefits will be lost without properly implemented security controls, so when the potential for loss of company intellectual property or other sensitive information is a real possibility and the cost of those can exceed both the cost savings, it is wise to make a small investment to keep the ROI in balance. Recognise existing investment in Communications All conversations using voice become important to how your business looks and are perceived by customers, partners and employees, who may be across different regions, divisions or global offices. Many organisations are deploying UC to provide an internal IP-PBX connecting both hardware IP phones and softphones. In most cases these deployments will coexist with an existing IP-PBX or need to interconnect with an IP PBX in another location. Secure connectivity requirements may make this difficult. The UM Labs Innovation in Security provides a range of flexible options for interconnecting UC with other SIP based networks and systems. The flexibility of the UM Labs Innovation in Security Showcase allows UC to connect to any existing SIP capable IP-PBX, to also accept VoIP/Video calls from any recognised mobile device. 3 UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1
SIP Trunking is cost effective, so secure it. Customers, Partners and Employees are made visible via UC, so public profiles mean public voice calling, which they can easily update with relevant information for their community or tell you directly they can be contacted, so the likely use of conferencing, either audio or video is a new wave of better communication between employees, customers or partners. SIP Trunking is the way to keep these higher bandwidth services at a level the business can afford. But to lose security when using SIP Trunking would be counterproductive. The flexibility of the UM Labs solution allows UC to connect to any SIP trunk service, to accept VoIP/Video calls from any recognised mobile device and provides a solution to organisations finding it difficult to upgrade their existing system to get the latest features. UM Labs enables SIP trunk connections to a UC system by providing the necessary conversion between the mechanisms used to transport SIP messages by the UC system and by the trunk service. Most SIP trunk providers provide only a connectionless service (UDP) which some UC systems, notably Lync, do not accept. The UM Labs solution provides the necessary conversion to ensure full interoperability. Just as all IP data connections need to be protected, an external connection to a UC system, be that a SIP trunk service or a remote user requires secure controls. Without adequate security, the UC system is exposed to threats of disruption or eavesdropping. The UM Labs solution includes robust defences against threats, including potentially expensive all fraud attacks. The transport conversion and security services which UM Labs offers for a connection between a SIP trunk and a UC system is measurable by the number of successful implementations. The UM Labs product is a SIP security p l a t f o r m a s a s e r v i c e which protects SIP based systems and ensures interoperability between SIP systems and networks. Its real-life pushed into the 21st century UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1 4
Mobile VOIP Clients and BYOD BYOD (Bring Your own Device) 1 billion smart phones by 2016; 350 million workers will use smart phones million of whom will take their own devices to their workspace. Unified Communications Identity Secure Element Open API IP-SIP VOIP/IM Full Encryption Full Encryption UM Labs Security Controller Cluster 1. Identity secured at point of access 2. Calls and IM secured through Security Control The growing acceptance from large, small and medium business and the introduction of sophisticated mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops are driving factors which fuel the enterprise mobility market in the coming years. Nowadays, organisations have all kinds of mobile devices in their networks and it s becoming hard for them to draw a line between personnel and professional devices. Users want seamless access to corporate resources, no matter which device they use, or where that device is connecting from; security is becoming a growing concern for the organisation around the globe. Employees want to use their preferred device. The organisation will allow them to do so, by securing BYOD and Enterprise Mobility. Software and Security vendors like UM-Labs are helping the companies to provide an environment where employees can connect their devices to the enterprise network without having any security related issues and this is driving the growth of the BYOD and enterprise mobility market. Many enterprises have deployed VoIP clients on smartphones to enable enterprise mobility and to adopt a BYOD policy. There are a number of VoIP clients for smartphones and tablets, which enable mobile devices to connect over WiFi or a cellular data connection to the corporate IP-PBX and operate as extensions on that PBX. Many clients offer call encryption and also support IM and presence. Organisations implementing a recommended application for mobile devices 5 UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1
will want to retain their investment in this area; particularly as current Microsoft Lync or IBM SameTime clients do not support direct VoIP calls. Connecting to Lync presents unique challenges, while most VoIP clients are able to offer a choice of SIP transports and therefore request a connection to a Lync server, there are a number of practical difficulties in connecting a non-software vendor device to a UC server. Even if the device supports TLS it may not be possible or practical to meet strict MTLS requirements. Using TCP as a connection option means sacrificing a layer of security and may leave the server open to a range of attacks including a potentially expensive call fraud attack. It may not be feasible or practical to use Active Directory to authenticate users running non UC software devices. The increasing mobile subscriber base and improved telecommunication infrastructure in terms of robustness, provides a reliable connectivity anytime and anywhere. The overall increase in network coverage, are the major drivers for enterprises to adopt mobility solutions. Companies adopting bring your own devices (BYOD) and enterprise mobility phenomena for various reasons such as, UC, greater accessibility, end-user buy-in, productivity enhancement and much more. 9 UM-Labs Innovation in Security Showcase is an ECOSYTEM for the Enterprise and helps secure the corporate value chain. Adopting UM-Labs Innovation in Security allows for true integration across the business with single authentication in protection of Persona and protection of call fraud through encryption of all UC/SIP/VOIP/VIDEO/IM/Persona Management services and this will reduce risk, while enhancing the ROI for the business. UM-Labs UM Labs is a pioneer and leader in Voice over IP/SIP Video/BYOD and Unified Communication security. The company markets t h e cost effective SIP Security Platform which makes connecting VoIP/Video systems to the public internet easy and secure. As a software generated solution this can be implemented on any Intel or Arm technology either as Software Security Platform as a Service (SSPaaS). Confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of voice communications over the internet (VoIP/Video) are critical considerations for most businesses. Driven by lower bandwidth costs and the promise of increased flexibility, VoIP/Video is quickly becoming a critical tool in the business-to-business landscape. Significant growth in SIP Trunking and consolidation of voice and data traffic over the public internet are raising new security and interoperability concerns that were previously overlooked. To solve these problems, UM Labs has developed a family of cost effective SIP Security Platform, which can be easily delivered as a service via the p l a t f o r m plugged into existing networks to enable SIP connectivity, security and voice encryption. Adopting UM-Labs Innovation in Security allows for true integration across the business with single authentication in protection of Persona and protection of call fraud through encryption of all UC/SIP/VOIP/Video/IM services and this will reduce risk, while enhancing the ROI for the business. 7 UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1
UM-Labs today works through our partners to deliver these innovative solutions and the Innovation in Security Showcase becomes their blue print to demonstrate the advancement of these solutions and allows them to fit directly into the Unified Communications value chain. Contact the sales team will arrange a presentation and you can receive case studies at the same time. UM-Labs Corporate Brochure V1 8
