1 Preceptors Paula Moyers, PharmD, BCPS / Pharmacy Residency Program Director Paula is the Pharmacy Clinical Manager, Residency Program Director, primary preceptor for Infectious Disease and Practice Management and assists with some topics in Internal Medicine. Paula earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Southern California and had many years of experience as a residency program director before starting the Residency Program here at Memorial in Over the years, she has specialized in transplantation, infectious disease, critical care, and academia. In her free time she enjoys the great outdoors, gardening, traveling near and far, her menagerie of animals, as well as being a huge ice hockey fan. Larry Tremel, PharmD, / Director of Pharmacy Larry is the Director of Pharmacy and one of the preceptors for the Pharmacy Practice Management rotation. Larry earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Nebraska. After graduation, he completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Prior to arriving at UCHealth - Memorial, Larry was the Director of Pharmacy for United Health Services Hospitals in Binghamton, NY for 15 years and Assistant Director of Pharmacy for the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas for 9 years. Larry spends his free time bow hunting and golfing. He also enjoys cooking and spending time with his family. Christopher P. Martin, PharmD, MS, BCPS (Practice Management Quality) Chris is the Clinical Pharmacy Quality Coordinator and one of the preceptors for Practice Management and Internal Medicine. Chris earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy. After graduation, he completed a specialty practice residency in pharmacotherapy and earned a MS in Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas College of Pharmacy. Prior to arriving at Memorial, Chris was a clinical assistant professor at The University of Texas College of Pharmacy and at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. When Chris isn't working, he enjoys spending time in the Colorado great outdoors with his family, smoking Texas style barbeque and cheering for the Longhorns - Hook'em Horns!
2 Alyssa Douville, PharmD, BCPS (Critical Care) Alyssa is one of the Critical Care clinical pharmacists and preceptor for the Critical Care rotation. Alyssa received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University in Des Moines, IA and then completed a PGY-1 and PGY- 2 Critical Care residency, both at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL. In her spare time she enjoys hiking and exploring beautiful Colorado, driving up to Denver to re-live her city life, traveling back and forth from Minnesota and Illinois to visit family, spending time with her husband, cheering for the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Twins, and not being in the Midwest during the winter! Rachael E. Waterson, PharmD, BCPS (Critical Care) Rachael is a Critical Care clinical pharmacist and a co-preceptor for Critical Care rotation. Rachael received her PharmD from Ohio Northern University in 2011 and then completed a PGY-1 and PGY-2 Critical Care Residency, both at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Rachael joined the Critical Care and Emergency Care teams at Memorial Hospital in In her free time she enjoys hiking, biking, climbing, snowboarding, gardening, cooking, and hanging out with her adorable dog Bailey. Christine M. Witherspoon, PharmD, BCPS (Critical Care, Cardiology) Christy is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for Critical Care and Cardiology. Christy received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Pre-Medicine at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Christy received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Colorado, and then completed an ASHPaccredited Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. In her free time, Christy enjoys skiing, learning to snowboard, drug trivia, going on hikes and walks, chasing two-year olds, spending time with her family and, of course, shopping. 3 Kate Jeffers, PharmD (Ambulatory Oncology) Kate is the Ambulatory Oncology Clinical Specialist and serves as preceptor for the ambulatory component of the Oncology rotation. She is originally from Severna Park, MD. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and completed her PharmD at The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She went on to complete her PGY1 and PGY2 Oncology Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She maintains an active role in the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, where she has served as the Resident Member to the Commission on Credentialing and is currently a member of a New Practitioners Forum Advisory Group. Outside of her professional life, Kate loves spending time with friends and family, cooking, shopping, football (Go Ravens!), and spending time outdoors. David Nash, PharmD (Pediatrics) Dave is the Pharmacy Manager for Children's Hospital Colorado at Memorial and preceptor for Pediatrics, NICU and Women's Health. Dave earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Creighton University School of Pharmacy and completed an ASHP-accredited Pediatric Pharmacy Practice Specialty Residency at Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to his experience as a Pharmacy Manager, Dave was also a Clinical Lead Pharmacist at Memorial Hospital for Children at Memorial Health System and has been recognized as a Peak Performer Award winner for 2011 and 2012 (outstanding hospital pharmacist). Dave is working on climbing all 54 Fourteeners in Colorado (19 to date) and enjoys adventure races. Carrie Beckman, PharmD, BCPS (Women s Services, Internal Medicine) Carrie is a Clinical Staff Pharmacist and co-precepts the Women s Services Rotation and the Internal Medicine Rotation. She attended University of Nebraska as an undergraduate and received her PharmD from the University of Minnesota in Carrie then completed a PGY-1 residency at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in Yakima, Washington Steand stayed there for 6 years before coming to Colorado. Carrie has practice experience in internal medicine, women s services, cardiology, oncology and anticoagulation. 4 Kali Zackery, PharmD (Staffing and Internal Medicine) Kali is a Clinical Staff Pharmacist for the Medical/Surgical service. Kali earned her PharmD at Ohio Northern University and completed the first Pharmacy Practice Residency at Memorial Health System. Kali specialized in Cleanroom services prior to a return to the Medical/Surgical team. As a super user for implementation of both Cerner Millennium and Epic, Kali is the Primary Staffing Preceptor. In her free time, Kali enjoys hiking, playing with her dog, seeing just how many freckles she can acquire in the summer, renovating the house/building things, and reading. Lauren Loeper, PharmD (Women s Services) Lauren is the preceptor for the Women's Services Rotation. Lauren earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and her Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Colorado, Denver. Her experience includes women's services, internal medicine, neonates and pediatrics. For fun, she enjoys hiking, travelling, and spending time with her family. Angela Ricke, PharmD, BCPS (Anticoagulation, Internal Medicine) Angie is a preceptor for Anticoagulation and Internal Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas and her PharmD from Creighton University. Angie completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas and has been with Memorial Hospital since Angie enjoys hiking the Incline, keeping up with her three kids and watching Chiefs football. 5 Michael Holowatyj, PharmD, BCPS (Emergency Medicine) Mike is the preceptor for Emergency Services. He attended Purdue University for his degree in pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 at Indiana University Health followed by a PGY-2 in Internal Medicine at Indiana University. Prior to coming to Memorial Hospital, he held a joint position where he was associate faculty of pharmacy practice with Butler University and a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist of Internal Medicine at St.Vincent hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. In his spare time he frequently attempts and fails: the cinnamon challenge, batmanning, folding a piece of paper more than seven times, and keeping his eyes open during a sneeze. Leslie Lund, PharmD (Emergency Medicine) Leslie attended the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Her main interests are Emergency Medicine and Infectious Disease and she currently works in the Emergency Department as an ED pharmacist. Outside of work she likes to snowboard, swim, bike, run and do yoga. Josh Perry, PharmD (Emergency Medicine) Josh graduated from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA and went on to complete a PGY1 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA. Josh has worked both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy at various retail chains. When Josh is not here working in the ED, he enjoys spending time with his wife, who happens to be a pediatric pharmacist. 6 Residents Marie Cabrera, PharmD Marie was born in Arizona and raised in New Mexico. She completed her PharmD at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Her professional interests include: cardiology, pediatrics, and infectious disease. In her free time she enjoys running, playing soccer, snowboarding, hiking, camping, spending time with family, and cooking. When residency ends, she is getting married and honeymooning in Fiji. Caitlin Freaney, PharmD Caitlin Freaney, originally from Florida, received her Bachelors of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Florida State University (GO NOLES!). She then went on and completed her PharmD at the University of Florida in Her current areas of interest include pediatrics, emergency medicine, and palliative care. Outside of work Caitlin enjoys exploring Colorado, playing with her dog Bailey, college football, overcoming the lack of oxygen that comes with living above sea level, and is anxiously awaiting seeing falling snow for the first time. Carrie McGarraugh, PharmD Carrie McGarraugh was born and raised in California and completed her Bachelors of Science in Human Biology in Carrie received her PharmD from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Her professional interests include emergency medicine and infectious disease. When Carrie is not at work, she spends her time running, riding her horses, and exploring the Colorado Springs area. She loves Colorado for 360 days of sunshine, and spectacular views. 7 Steve Stackhouse, PharmD Steve is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Louis University and completed his PharmD at Creighton University. His professional interests include critical care, emergency medicine, and cardiology. In addition to drugs, Steve is passionate about snowboarding, running, and his St. Louis Cardinals.
