Résumé: The furniture sector in EU is facing significant challenges in competing in the globalised market. The increased reliance on a skilled workforce and efficient production techniques is being compromised by a lack of sufficiently knowledgeable workers, especially in skilled and management positions. Better training of the existing workforce and prospective job seekers in the sector is needed, to maintain and upgrade their qualifications and skills and to continually transfer the acquired competencies in the same time as new ones are created. To respond to these needs, the LILAC project aims at implementing and testing a Web-based platform that integrates competence management, e-learning and knowledge management to the benefit of employees working in an organisation. Description: Thèmes: Sectors: Types de Produit: Information sur le produit: LILAC responds to Leonardo s Priority 6 by developing and pilot testing a state-of-the-art tool to assist the delivery of training in all contexts, particularly supporting individuals undertaking self-directed learning, by helping them to identify their skills gaps and consequently pointing them to the most appropriate learning and knowledge resources to close those gaps. The system is therefore a Performance Support tool, providing resources to allow for on demand learning. The project partnership includes organisations with a proven record of providing training services to the furniture industry, and will ensure that a wide number of target users are reached in each country. Each partner directly represents a membership base of furniture manufacturers, or provides training to prospective job seekers in the furniture industry. As such, this system acts as training support tool, enabling users to identify skills gaps and related training needs, and will point them directly to appropriate resources to meet those needs. The system will be multilingual: user interface and job profiles will be available in all the consortium languages (English, French, Italian, Spanish). - training pathways on topics relevant to the furniture industry connecting a number of e- learning modules (knowledge pills or learning objects) related to one or more job profiles identified in the system.
