3 Letter from the Director of MBA Career Management Leading the Way 2010 signaled the call for many companies to begin leading the way back to profitability and improved competitiveness. The participants of the 2nd edition of The Lisbon MBA International in collaboration with MIT are positioned to help your company achieve those goals. With a class makeup of almost 40% international students, this class has benefited from increased diversity with an expanded international outlook on business. They have also benefited from studying during a year in which we saw a few of the world s top global companies suffering serious threats to their brands. This has challenged these participants to think deeply on how to ensure that a company s brand, products, services, and culture are properly managed. The participants in the Lisbon MBA International Program received (and continue to receive) intense - but gratifying - personal and professional development workshops to complement their academic coursework. They also completed the Summer Internship Program and put their new learning into practice to the satisfaction of the hiring company! The success of our Internship Program ensures that our participants are prepared to become part of your company and make a positive impact. We encourage your organization to meet our participants and see how they might fit your current and future needs. It s an exciting time to start rebuilding the talent pipeline as we enter a new phase of global innovation! I traveled to Warsaw, Poland for my internship at Makro Cash and Carry which was a golden opportunity to explore the wholesale sector and also to be a part of the multicultural and dynamic business environment of the retail giant, the Metro Group. The international flavor of the internship was an added advantage since it gave me an insight into a growing economy of Eastern Europe. At Makro, I was asked to assist a high level management team in implementing a major strategic change across the organization which helped me to understand the most important aspects of the wholesale business such as marketing, customer management, procurement (buying) and store operations.
