Initially for Torm as an Owners Representative in both Nigeria and USA, Hillebrand Denmark (nvocc) as manager, tank division, Dannebrog (Nordana) as vice president where he initiated, planned, established and developed a new triangular multipurpose service USA/West Africa/SAEC, and since 2008 Shipcraft where he became CEO in Has throughout the past 2,5 years primarily been deeply engaged in the case of the abduction of the company's crew by Somali pirates. 05 Christian W. Berg, CEO Vikings Supply Ships, Copenhagen, Denmark Mr. Christian W. Berg was appointed CEO in VSS A/S in April Mr. Berg was previously employed as Chief Commercial Officer in Siem Offshore AS in Norway, where he also was part of the Management Team. He is a Master Mariner and has an extensive experience from the international oil and gas industry in various leader positions. 06 Capt. Jeevanchandra BHATT, Vessel Performance Manager, Maersk Line Ship Management, Maersk GSC, Mumbai. He currently holds the position as Vessel Performance Manager, in Maersk Line Ship Management at Maersk Global Service Centers Mumbai. Specializing in Voyage Efficiency, he has 17 years of sailing experience. He has sailed on almost all types of cargo ships and since 2005 he has solely sailed on container vessels. He rose to the position of Captain in Feb-2008 and joined A.P.Moller - Singapore as Master in He supports Maersk line owned and time chartered vessel in voyage efficiency. He has done a brief stint as a harbor pilot in 2008 and has co-piloted about 300 vessels of different types and sizes. Bhd., Malaysia Kenneth is in charge of the Malaysian subsidiary of the Danish transport and logistics group DSV. Based in Kuala Lumpur he has in the past 5 years seen the company grow to 100 people in 4 offices. Prior to moving to Malaysia Kenneth spent 8 years in Hong Kong and South China. He was initially posted to Shenzhen, China for Maersk Logistics after completing the Maersk International Shipping Education program. Here he held various commercial roles for the company before being appointed as Head of Operations. In 2003 Kenneth took on a consulting assignment for the logistics arm of trading giant Li & Fung. Here he managed the startup of Export Logistics in China. In 2005 Kenneth moved to Hong Kong for Kuehne + Nagel to manage the startup of Contract Logistics in Hong Kong, Macau & South China. 10 Charlie COOMS: Operations - Network Execution, Maersk Liner Business Charlie is an Australian who currently occupies the role of Manager of Global Operations Execution, in Maersk Line's Situation Room. Among other things, the role includes presenting the global operations update to Maersk Line's Chief Operating Officer 4 mornings a week, & hosting the Situation Room tours for various key client executives. He has lived & worked in various operational positions for Maersk Line in Sydney, Singapore, Dubai, and Copenhagen over the last 6 years. Education wise he holds a Bachelor of Sport Management from Southern Cross University in Australia. 11 Amer DEMO, Vice-President, Relationship Manger, Nordea Bank Amer Demo currently holds the position as Vice President / Relationship Manager at Nordea Bank, Shipping and Offshore division. Nordea Bank is the 4th largest lender to the shipping, offshore and cruise industries world-wide and have consistently ranked as a top arranger of syndicated loans. Since 2012, Amer Demo is part of the restructuring team which is responsible for handling and overseeing all financial restructuring and work-out situations for the shipping and offshore division globally. The main responsibilities of the team are to provide critical, independent advice on complex issues and to control the restructuring processes. The Copenhagen-based job involves facilitating collaboration activities with Maersk key suppliers and with universities, identifying new technical solutions to increase competiveness of the current and future Maersk fleet. Sofia was previously with DNV, based in Oslo and Singapore, focusing on environmental advisory support to the shipping industry. She holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Lund University, Sweden, and has also followed an executive Technology Innovation program at Haas Business School, Berkeley, US. 16 Thorbjorn Reynir Gislason, Executive President, IFS Group, Lima Peru; He currently holds the position as the President and joint owner of IFS Group. Today IFS Group is 5th largest international freight forwarding company in Peru. He has over 30 years' experience in global shipping and logistics managing operations from start-up to multinational operations with staff exceeding 4500 people. He has held various management positions at Eimskip Lines and Samskip Lines in the USA and Canada. He was logistics director of Vestas Wind Systems USA where he designed current transport systems. He was President & CEO of Fracht FWO
5 USA, a leading Swiss based project logistics forwarder, responsible for North America operations. He facilitated two acquisitions of Canadian income trust companies on behalf of Eimskip in 2006 and Totaling USD 2.2 billion. Facilitated acquisitions from start including successful optimization and merger of both business units. He joined IFS Group in 2008 where it was a minor market player to become one of the leading Peruvian forwarding company today. 17 Heidi GUTIERREZ, Maersk Drilling, Denmark Heidi has 5 years of experience in the liner business. From 2008 to 2011 she worked as Quality Specialist for the Maersk Line fleet in Copenhagen Headquarters. In this position she was responsible to maintain the Management System in conformance with the ISM code and ensure periodic renewal of the Documents of Compliance for each sailing flag. Before that, she worked two years for Maersk Line in Nicaragua as Process Excellence Supervisor. There, she was working closely with the all the processes from end to end, in order to implement improvement projects in the organization. Currently, she works for Maersk Drilling QMHSE department that is responsible to ensure the safe operation of the rigs global fleet. 18 Magnús S. HARALDSSON, Operations Manager, Eimskip Denmark A/S Currently holds the position as Operations and Import Manager for Eimskip Denmark A/S, the Danish arm of the Icelandic owned Eimskipafélag Íslands HF (Eimskip). Took over the position of Operation Manager for Eimskip Denmark in 2007 where my main responsibility is container control and vessel agency, mainly container vessels but also bulk and reefer vessels. Have also been responsible for Eimskips operations in Norway and Sweden during this time period. Was also responsible for operations for Containerships LTD in Denmark and Sweden in Since 2012 I have also been Import Manager for Eimskip Denmark A/S, where the main import is fish from Iceland and Faroe islands. Before taking over the position of Operations Manager I was a Specialist for Eimskip Iceland (since 2004) in Productions Management where my main responsibility was container control. 19 Lars Henrik HEJLESEN, Sales Development Manager, OW Bunker, Denmark He holds the corporate position as Sales Development Manager within OW Bunker Group. Lars Henrik has been driving a number of sales development projects to be successful implemented in more than 30 branch offices all over the world to strengthen and align the global customer approach. He returned to OW bunker and the industry in Finally he holds a diploma degree in business administration from Aalborg University. 20 Ole Bjørn KRAFT, Executive Director Commercial and Operations, GMT Shipping Group, Hong Kong He currently holds a management position in the GMT Shipping Group, which is primarily engaged in Ship owning/operating and Ship Agency/Logistics. GMT is headquartered in Hong Kong. The primary business of GMT is Steel/Break bulk liner services to West Africa, where the Group is also a leading agency and logistics provider for steel, breakbulk and project cargoes. Including his years with GMT, Ole has a total of 18 years of experience in the industry with a background from various management and chartering positions. He started out with the APM/Maersk Group and then later on worked with Clarksons and Maersk Broker. Ole has spent 8 years of his career in Asia. He has previously worked in his home town of Copenhagen, as well as in West Africa and in London. 21 Flemming Bo Larsen, Team Lead - Fleet Energy Optimization, Maersk Line, Copenhagen He has worked with Maersk Line for more than 16 years in various functions. He started out in 1997 as cadet and graduated as senior dual purpose officer. He has since 2006 taken up various general manager positions in the head office related to crewing, operations and for the last 5 years with strategic initiatives related to Energy Efficiency. In 2012 he was appointed Head of Fleet Energy Optimization, a department which plays a strategic part in Maersk Lines drive to significantly reduce operational cost. Here, he has worked with continuously improving the bunker performance of the entire Maersk Line fleet by the use of performance measurement, concept development and implementation as well as installations of technical retrofits. He has in debt knowledge of the Liner business due to many years of close collaboration with Maersk Line's own vessels but also with the extensive number of charter owners chartering vessels to the Maersk Line fleet. 22 Lene Sonne LILLELUND, Captain, Danish Army, Logistics Branch Lene achieved her practical logistical and management experience before and during her deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. The deployment to Iraq gave her a unique understanding of the many challenges one has to overcome when planning and conducting logistics in a war zone. Furthermore, she was very much involved in the withdrawal of the last Army team in Iraq responsible for returning vehicles, containers, etc. to Denmark. Specializing in logistics within the Army, Lene has more than 10 years of experience with military logistics both in Denmark as well as in Iraq and Afghanistan. She has held various management positions within the Danish Army, including the positions as
7 second in command of a logistics company in Iraq, and as a company commander of a logistics company in Afghanistan. In 2010 Lene received an army award for recognizable leadership. In 2012/13 she taught military logistics at the Royal Danish Military Academy at Frederiksberg. At the moment, Lene works in Karup as a HR consultant at the Danish Operational Command. After achieving the The Blue MBA she hopes to work either at the Joint Logistics Element in the Danish Defense or somewhere in the private sector. 23 Martina MEINDERS, Managing Director, Crew Management, MARIN SHIPMANAGEMENT LTD., CYPRUS She currently holds the position as Managing Director at Marin Shipmanagement Ltd., a crew management company, which has presently more than 55 vessels under their crew management, located in Limassol/Cyprus and fully ISO and MLC compliant. Additionally she is a Director of the associated chartering company, as well as the travel company, established for the travel requirements of the group. She has extensive maritime experience in various sectors of shipping, from crew management, chartering, Sale & Purchase as well as Financial Controlling. She is a member of the Germanischer Lloyd (Cyprus) Committee as well as the Secretary General of WISTA Cyprus (Women in Shipping & Trading Association). 24 Jan Kragh MICHELSEN, Sales Development Director, Global Maritime, Cobham SATCOM, Denmark He currently holds the position as Sales Development Director at Cobham SATCOM, a strategic business unit of Cobham plc, a UK-based FTSE 250 company engaged in the aerospace and defence industries. Cobham SATCOM develops, manufactures, sells and supports satellite and radio communication terminals and earth stations for land, marine and airborne applications. He has extensive maritime experience, gained across different sectors within the maritime industry, from sales management positions at leading maritime high-tech companies to assignments as commanding officer on costal patrol vessels. He is a Master Mariner graduate from Svendborg International Maritime Academy (SIMAC) in Denmark and also a commissioned naval officer from the Royal Danish Navy. 25 Hanus MIKKELSEN, Director, Marine HR, Viking Supply Ships A/S He currently hold the position as Director of Marine HR at Viking Supply Ships A/S, a Company specialized in operation in Off Shore activities, Anchor Handling and Ice Management. He has about 30 years of experience in Shipping of which the first 15 years at sea in various segments and ranks, ending up serving as Master Mariner on Project, Multi Purpose and Heavy Lift vessels before going ashore in Ever since he came ashore He has been holding various managerial position in international renown companies in Denmark such as Clipper and Nordic Tankers at which he was responsible for building up an organization handling all recruiting, training and logistical activities related to approximately employed multi national crewmembers. Before joining Viking Supply Ships A/S he held the position as Head of Marine HR Department in the Dubai based Tanker Company, Gulf Energy Maritime, where he also was a part of the Executive Management Group.
8 26 Ulla Eithz Nielsen Director, CSR Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S Since she joined NORDEN January 2011, where she have been responsible for establishing NORDENs CSR department, where she amongst others have established following : The CSR strategy, Employee Code of Conduct, Suppliers Code of Conduct, NORDENs gift & Entertainment policy, Anti-Corruption policy and just completed an Anchoring process of CSR throughout the organisation. Prior joining NORDEN she headed up the position as Performance Manager in Norient Product Pool in August 2008, where she was in charge of the developing and implementing the Performance Systems MOEPS and the built-up of the Performance section. Prior to joining Norient she worked for A.P.Møller Mærsk in a number of different functions primarily related to vessel operations and performance: Senior General Manager position within Global Marine Assets Strategy, Design and Procurement, a department she co-established in 2005 and have co-managed, as process responsible for the design and procurement of Maersk Line vessels. During the years with APMM she furthermore headed up the Cargo planning (Operations) working independently with development colleagues, their roles and responsibilities in the organisation. She holds a certificate as Master Mariner and have had her seagoing career on Maersk Lines Container vessels. 27 Tommy Nilsson, Senior Director Operations, Maersk Line, Copenhagen He currently holds the position as Head of Terminal & Ports in Maersk Line's head quarter and has done so for the last four years. The function includes the financial, contractual and strategic responsibility of Maersk Line's activities in terminal and ports. After twelve years of seniority in Maersk Line, he has had the opportunity to gain experience and advance from the local organisation in Gothenburg to various positions in Maersk Line's head quarter. The career path has included expatriations heading up Maersk Line's operation for both West and East Mediterranean as well as various management positions leading process improvements, outsourcing to back-offices, organisational restructuring and driving tactical as well as strategic initiatives. Before joining Maersk Line 2001 he sailed at sea, with his last position as 1st officer in the Swedish shipping company 'B&N'. He holds a diploma as Master mariner and has complemented it with financial studies. He lives in Malmoe (Sweden) together with his wife and their two children. 28 Christian BENEDICTSEN-NISLEV, Advokat and Solicitor of England and Wales at Gorrissen Federspiel Christian currently works in the Shipping, Offshore & Transportation department of Danish law firm Gorrissen Federspiel. He specialises in maritime law and advises Danish and international shipping clients with regards to transactions as well as litigation. Clients include ship owners, operators, P&I Clubs and insurers as well as a range of other players in the shipping industry. Christian has previously worked for three years with internationally renowned London-based shipping law firm Holman Fenwick Willan LLP, where he qualified as a solicitor in Christian is also a Danish qualified lawyer. In addition to his legal practice, Christian is actively involved in the Danish shipping industry. He runs the maritime law program that form part of the Commercial Shipping Course provided to new shipping trainees in the Danish shipping industry by the Danish Shipowners Association and BIMCO. He is also a member of the Danish branch of the Comite Maritime International.
9 29 Michael Petersen, Fleet Manager in Nordic Tanker Marine A/S, Denmark I have been Fleet Manager in Nordic Tankers Marine A/S since January Nordic Tankers Marine A/S is the technical department within Nordic Tankers which is a shipping company specialized in chemical tankers operating world wide. The company has been through some big changes within the last 4 years, from a sole tonnage provider to shipping company listed on the Danish stock market to a privately owned company. As a Fleet Manager I am technically responsible for a group of vessels in cooperation with my 6 direct reports. The vessels needs to be ready at all times for carrying the cargoes designed for, and be in compliance with class and legislations. The Fleet Manager is an interesting position with employee responsibility, making sure always to have the optimal people in the right position, utilizing them in the best way. As a Fleet Manager I often take part of or even drive Management of Change process for vessels leaving or coming into management either from other owners or own acquisition. Prior to Nordic Tankers I was employed in A.P.Møller Mærsk A/S for close to 19 years where as the last 3 years a General Manager and responsible for the offshore supply vessels working out of South America. 30 Christian RIIS, Head, HSSEQ Department, Lauritzen Kosan A/S, Denmark Presently Christian Riis is Heading the HSSEQ Department in Lauritzen Kosan A/S and the HSSEQ Department in Lauritzen Offshore Services A/S, which are a part of the J Lauritzen Group. Based in Copenhagen, he is responsible for the quality assurance covering legislation and customer requirements primarily within the areas of health, safety, security and environmental of the gas carrier segment (LPG, semi-ref. and ethylene vessels) and the shuttle tanker/offshore segment. Christian is a member of the management team of Lauritzen Kosan A/S and Lauritzen Offshore Services A/S. He is trained and experienced in conducting awareness courses, leadership and management courses for senior officers. Throughout his present and former positions as Head of Department, Superintendent and Harbor Master, he has worked with a broad range of tasks and quality requirements in the shipping industry. The past 6 years representing both shipowners and external technical fleet management companies. With a background as Master Mariner and engineering studies from the Technical University, Christian has served in the Royal Danish Navy, worked as an Officer in the merchant fleet, employed as Harbor Master in the Port of Copenhagen and latest as Superintendent, Manager and Head of Department primarily working with HSEQ in Danish shipowning companies. 31 Søren Roschmann, Head of Technical Department, Lauritzen Bulkers A/S Presently Søren heads Lauritzen Bulkers Technical Department with overall responsibility for technical management and technical projects in relation to Lauritzen Bulkers fleet. The area covers disciplines such as energy efficiency & performance monitoring, safety, quality and environmental compliance, risk assessment, emergency response management, project management, new building
10 supervision, inspection and screening in connection with vessel sale & purchase. Søren is member of J. Lauritzen s cross departmental focus groups concerning piracy contingency and implementation of the Ballast Water Management convention. Furthermore he is member of the permanent CSR committee of J.Lauritzen. Prior to getting on board Lauritzen Bulkers and taking on a position as project manager & performance analyst, Søren has held positions as Maritime Accident Investigator at The Danish Maritime Authority and Naval Architect at maritime consultants Grontmij Ι Carl Bro. 32 Michael SOMMER 33 Despina Panayiotou THEODOSIOU,Chief Financial and Operating Officer, Tototheo Group Despina is the CFO of the Tototheo Group of Companies, which deals with satellite and radio Communications and specializes in the maritime industry. She has been with the group for most of her career and her responsibilities extend to all the companies under the group that are based in Cyprus and in Singapore. Despina is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the President of Women s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) Cyprus. 34 Parvinder Tiwana, Key Account Manager at SAS Cargo Group A/S, Copenhagen. He has a freight forwarders background working 13 years for DSV in Denmark, with several years stationing in both Chicago and San Francisco. He is specialized within air freight, and has earlier experience within ocean freight and project logistics, holding Sales Executive and Department Manager positions within DSV. For four years he has furthermore held the position as Director/Partner at Proactive Airline Services with offices and operations in all the Nordic countries, representing major airline carriers as e.g. Delta Airlines, British Airways, Air Greenland, and responsible for all air cargo logistics, flight planning and bulk capacity sales for these clients. 11 35 Torger TRIGE, Port Captain/General Manager, Odfjell Netherlands BV, The Netherlands He currently holds the position as Port Captain/General Manager of Odfjell Netherlands BV, the Dutch branch office of the Norwegian chemical tanker giant, Odfjell Tankers AS. Specialist skills in chemical tanker operations, both onboard and onshore, is a result of close to 20 years of experience whereas the last 15 in one of the industry leading companies. He has held Senior Officer positions onboard before moving on to work in the Odfjell Marine Service Group providing Ship Operations, Commercial Departments and Technical Managers with extensive advice on carriage requirements, tank cleaning and bulk shipment regulations for chemicals. Upon request in mid-2009 he took the position as Port Captain/General Manager for the Dutch branch of Odfjell Tankers AS, situated in Rotterdam. The branch office is responsible for cost efficient port operations and agency services for the fleet of tankers controlled by Odfjell and counts at present 11 employees. In difficult times for chemical tanker shipping he has successfully headed a re-organization of the office to reduce staff, minimize costs and increase efficiency in work processes. 36 Per Tunell, Vice President, Head of Environmental Management, Wallenius Marine AB, SWEDEN Per Tunell is a naval architect with 17 years experience from the shipping industry. Per has been playing the shipping game from several different angles; as a surveyor for the Swedish Maritime Administration, as a surveyor for the classification society, Bureau Veritas, as project manager for a newbuilding series of ten vessels for Wallenius and since 2009, as Vice President and Head of Environmental Management at the same company. As Head of Environmental Management, Per Tunell sets up objectives and strategies and drives the work to ensure that Wallenius maintains its position as a frontrunner when it comes to reducing the environmental impact from their operations. 37 Rauf VALIYEV, Head of Transport and Logistics Division at State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Rauf Valiyev currently holds the position of the Head of Transport and Logistics Division at State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the world s leading oil and gas company owned by the State. Mr.Valiyev has over 18 years of managerial experience in the area of maritime and logistics. Previously he held a number of senior positions at Caspian Sea Oil Fleet, a marine subdivision of SOCAR, which possesses over 230 modern offshore supply vessels. As the Head of the Transport and Logistics Division, Mr.Valiyev oversees SOCAR s fleet management as well as coordinates SOCAR s projects on provision of offshore support services to the oil and gas industry, which are implemented in cooperation with foreign partners, such as BP, SAIPEM, McDermott, Total, etc. A total cost of such projects amounts to 3 billion US Dollars.
12 Mr.Valiyev also serves as a Chairman in the following committees: 1) SOCAR Topaz Energy and Marine Alliance. Chairman of the Alliance s Executive Committee. 2) SOCAR Caspian Marine Services Ltd Alliance. Chairman of the Alliance s Executive Committee. 3) Baku Shipyard LLC. Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Mr.Valiyev holds regular meetings of the Supervisory Board, receives and approves reports from Shipyard s management, oversees the process of construction and takes key decisions within the authorities of the Supervisory Board. 38 Mariika Virrankoski-Poulsen, In-house Counsel, Clipper Group, Denmark Mariika has an extensive experience in commercial shipping law at international level. She has a solid legal back ground supplemented by over 15 years' working experience at shipping law firms in London and as legal counsel at Clipper Group, which owns and manages around 200 vessels consisting mainly of bulk and project vessels. She has an in-depth understanding on how business, management and operation of the vessels is conducted at the international, national and company level, and she knows the inter-action between the various stakeholders in business, as well as what are the commercial, operative, compliance, and regulatory issues at stake, and how to balance these into a successful business. Her experience covers shipping litigation, corporate governance andstuctures, company law, marine insurance, charterparties, sale-and purchase of vessels, ship financing, management- and off-shore agreements, ship registration as well as employment- and crew matters. Mariika is also in charge of the compliance policies at Clipper and is closely involved in the work of Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). 39 Captain Søren Westerskov, marine pilot, DANPILOT, Denmark. He currently holds a position as marine pilot at the Danish stateowned pilotage DANPILOT. Formerly he was area manager and head of pilotage logistics in the same company. He has recently returned from a position as Chief Pilot in the newly developed Port of Sohar in Oman where he started up a pilotage for the Sultanate and the port. Establishing close cooperation with the port stakeholders (terminals, maritime service providers, shipyards, local business) in order to provide an effective turnaround of ships movements which brings laytime in port down to a level which is competitive and attractive to shipping in the region. He has app. 25 years of experience in the maritime world and have been employed by several Danish Shipping companies such as J. Laurtitzen, Em.Z.Svitzer, DSB and DFDS A/S during which time he also made lectures for a couple of the Danish maritime educational institutions. Before becoming a maritime pilot in 2005 he was serving as Captain on the passenger ships owned by DFDS Seaways trading in the North European waters. Besides being Captain he was deeply involved in the company implementation of Vision and Value driven leadership and in recruiting and training foreign crew for the routes outside Scandinavian waters. Until his departure for Oman in 2010 he was member of the board of directors in a local bank. Spare time is spent with his wife and 2 children(20 and 17 years old) in Odense and in his summer cottage on the Island of Lyoe South of Fyn, where he exercises his hobbies which is hunting, boating, motorcycling and nature.
13 40 Jie Zhou, Vice General Manager of Marketing Division of China Shipping Europe Holding G.m.b.H.Germany He currently holds the position as the Vice General Manager of Marketing Division of China Shipping Europe Holding G.b.m.H., the Europe arm of China Shipping Group Coperation, covering the shipping Business in the Norh Europe and Meditterenean Service. Specializing in the North Europe and Meditterrenean region market, he has over 20 yeras experience with shipping liner and logistics in China. He has hold various management positions for the two largest shipping companies in China -- COSCO and China Shipping. Initially for COSCO Logistics as the project manager, then worked as the project manager for China Shipping Container Lines. In the next four years, he worked as the Vice Genenral Manager of the Stowage & Operation Division in China Shipping Europe Holding G.m.b.H. This year, he begin his new job as the Vice Genenral Mananger of the Marketing Division in the same company in Europe. As a certified project manangement professional by Project Management Instituite, he holds postions in several academical orgnizaitons.
