1 LOCAL DEGREE DESCRIPTION Filosofie masterexamen med huvudområdet internationell administration och global samhällsstyrning Master of Science (120 ) with a major in International Administration and Global Governance 1. Decision Degree description of Master of Science (120 ) with a major in International Administration and Global Governance at University of Gothenburg is decided by the Faculty Board of Social Sciences , with revision Degree requirements A degree of Master of Science (120 ) with a major in International Administration and Global Governance is obtained after fulfillment of the objectives in the Higher Education Ordinance, Appendix 2, and local objectives Objectives Higher Education Ordinance, Appendix 2 In order to obtain a degree of Master of Science (120 ) with a major in International Administration and Global Governance students must Knowledge and understanding - demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the main field of International Administration and Global Governance, including both broad knowledge in the field and substantially deeper knowledge of certain parts of the field, together with deeper insight into current research and development work; and - demonstrate deeper methodological knowledge in the main field of International Administration and Global Governance. Skills and abilities - demonstrate an ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge and to analyse, assess and deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, even when limited information is available; - demonstrate an ability to critically, independently and creatively identify and formulate issues and to plan and, using appropriate methods, carry out advanced tasks within specified time limits, so as to contribute to the development of knowledge and to evaluate this work; - demonstrate an ability to clearly present and discuss their conclusions and the knowledge and arguments behind them, in dialogue with different groups, orally and in writing, in national and international contexts; and - demonstrate the skill required to participate in research and development work or to work independently in other advanced contexts.

2 Judgment and approach - demonstrate an ability to make assessments in their main field of International Administration and Global Governance, taking into account relevant scientific, social and ethical aspects, and demonstrate an awareness of ethical aspects of research and development work; - demonstrate insight into the potential and limitations of science, its role in society and people s responsibility for how it is used; and - demonstrate an ability to identify their need of further knowledge and to take responsibility for developing their knowledge. 2.2 Local objectives After completing the programme, students will: - have specialized knowledge of specific issues in the field of international administration and global governance, including the most recent research on those issues. 2.3 Scope A degree of Master of Science (120 ) with a major in International Administration and Global Governance is obtained after the student has completed course requirements of 90 in the main field of International Administration and Global Governance. 2.4 Independent project (degree project) Global Governance students must have completed an independent project (degree project) worth at least 30 in the main field of International Administration and Global Governance, within the framework of the course requirements. The independent project may comprise less than 30, but not less than 15, if the student has already completed an independent project at the second level worth at least 15 in the main field of International Administration and Global Governance 2.5 Courses within the main field of study Global Governance students must have completed 90 in the main field of International Administration and Global Governance, consisting of 30 core courses, 15 in-depth courses, 15 research methods courses, and 30 independent project (degree project) courses. For course specification, see Appendix Courses outside the main field of study Global Governance students may have completed 30 outside the main field of International Administration and Global Governance. For course specification, see Appendix Transitional provisions In order to obtain a degree in accordance with the changes of the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2006:1053), at least one of the courses that are to be a part of the degree, have been completed after July 1st 2007.
