2 Company Profile: LuxScan Technologies LuxScan Technologies was incorporated in August 1998 with the objective of designing, developing and distributing scanners improving the quality control within the timber industry. The system detects defects (natural or not) within the timber, and with further consideration of visual criteria (control of aspect and geometric conformity of a wood part), determines the optimal use of the material, at a speed of up to 3 meters per second. To achieve this, the scanners developed by LuxScan Technologies use high-end technologies such as: color cameras, laser sensors and X ray systems. The company has become a market standard and has established partnerships with other renowned companies as Weinig, Microtec, System TM and GreCon-Dimter. LuxScan Technologies has distributed over 70 scanners throughout 16 different countries. In 2004 and 2005, about 50% of its turnover came from North American markets, which illustrates the export orientation of its business. This was also a major argument for LuxScan Technologies to incorporate an American company in 2005 to guarantee efficient on-site services to their clients. Since it s exit from the incubator the company has known a constant development of its activities and achieved several milestones to gain further market shares in an exiting niche market opportunity. Staff 30 Field of activity: Core Products Target Markets Reference customer Last accomplishment Development and distribution of industrial scanners for automatic quality control of products in the wood/furniture sector LaserScan, ColorScan, XscanCombi, ShapeScan, CombiScan North America, Scandinavia, Europe, New Zealand, Australia Velux LuxScan Technologies sold its first scanner to Chile, to company Baracas Santa Clara. This scanner will control the quality and optimize the cutting decision on Radiata Pine. Contact: LuxScan Technologies, Z.A.R.E. Steve Edkins, DSTi's COO, said, "We took the strategic decision to work with Sapiens Tech, because the technology gives DSTi a unique offering in an under supplied segment of the asset management software market. Opinion driven portfolio optimisation is part of DSTi's long-term vision for front office decision support. This functionality is not currently available in the market and will bring DSTi and our early adopter clients into a marketing leading position." Philippe Gonze, CEO of Sapiens Tech added: "More than a distribution agreement, the excellent synergy between Sapiens Tech and DSTi will help to deliver innovation to the financial community. DSTi's experienced sales force is now armored with a very efficient tool to propose value-added solutions to institutional asset managers. This agreement will allow more financial institutions to leverage the concepts implemented in Vestor. Our vision is that, eventually, any individual investor should benefit from the concept of Opinion Driven Individual Asset Management". For further information about Sapiens Tech: 2
3 4 th October 2005 CodaSystems announces investment round with CAP DECISIF CodaSystem announces a 1 st successful investment round with the technological investment fund CAP DECISIF (Paris, Ile-de-France; Created by Claude Poletti and Frédéric Levaux, CodaSystem has developed and commercializes software capturing and certifying digital pictures. An extensive portfolio of worldwide intellectual property rights protects the technology of CodaSystem. The recent digitalization and exchange of documents brought several advantages like rapidity, ease of diffusion, archiving and retrieving of information. The CodaSystem solution allows to exploit these advantages but also to avoid risks like divulgation of information to non-authorised third parties, modification of the content and the problem of the nonexistence of an original in the digital world (no negative). The pictures are geo-localized (via satellite), time and date stamped, tattooed and signed by the authors. Service providers can use such pictures to have a legal justification of their services or as control mechanism for outsourcing activities. These pictures are the only alternative to heavy and costly certified or official statements or reports. The incriminating evidence of the pictures has been certified by several legal and technical audits and is based on (1) the control of the production, the encrypting process, the archiving and the diffusion to the final customer and (2) thanks to the conformity of rules and norms concerning the signature, the exchange and the electronic storage of information. CodaSystem uses only existing professional standards like jpeg for photos and IP for data transmission. Clients in the security, media, building, engineering and local public sectors have already trusted CodaSystem technology by experiencing time, financial, productivity and quality returns (GSE, BETC, Graniou, AREA, Groupe Bellin, Aquila, Dynaxium, Agence Area PACA, Citadis). For further information about CodaSystem: 4 th October 2005 magic moving pixel: File Exchange Server as new online service magic moving pixel released their new File Exchange Server targeting organizations that need to exchange files with their customers or business partners. It is also addressed to teams or work groups that have a need for common and personal storage areas on the Internet. The file exchange service is your file server on the Internet, providing you with full administrative control over users, access permissions, files and folders. The configuration possibilities allow you to create a multitude of application scenarios. Access via Web and FTP & Full Server Administration The server comes with a Web interface allowing full server management using a Web browser. No specific client software is required to upload or download files. Furthermore the server fully supports the FTP protocol. Thus any standard FTP client software can be used for managing files and folders on the server. The file server is delivered with an administrator account for managing users and disc space. With the Web interface the administrator can create new users, change passwords, delete users, create home directories, assign access permissions and manage files and folders. Common Address Book & Personal and shared Notepads The server also includes an address directory that can be maintained by the administrator. All users have read access to this directory. This is useful, for example, for customers or business partners that are looking for support contacts. All users can maintain their personal and shared notepads. This allows, for instance, the administrator to publish notes (such as support information) accessible for all users. For details about server packaging and pricing see the mmpftp specification, which is part of our collaborative solutions on the web server For more information contact Mr. Werner Eiden, phone: , fax: , info@mmp.lu 3
4 18 th October 2005 SecureWave Gains DIPCOG Approval for Sanctuary Products Following closely on the announcement that its IT security products were the first to gain the Government's Central Sponsor for Information Assurance Claims Tested Mark (CCTM). SecureWave, a leader in endpoint security software, announced that it has received DIPCOG approval for its Sanctuary Device Control and Sanctuary products. The Defence Infosec Product Co operation Group (DIPCOG) is a MoD forum, which also provides an interface between the MoD and vendors of IT security products and services. SecureWave has received approval for its Sanctuary Device Control product to be included in the Security Section of the MoD's DCSA ICS Catalogue. This product enforces policy on the use of removable storage media, such as USB memory sticks and ipods, by only allowing specifically authorised devices to connect to machines at specified times. Where use is permitted, Device Shadowing enables companies to create an audit trail of all data downloaded to that device. The DIPCOG has also approved Sanctuary, a software product that secures IT networks by only permitting specifically authorised files and applications to execute on company desktops, laptops and servers. This enforces IT policy by only allowing authorised software to be used and prevents any malware such as spyware, or Trojan files from running on the corporate network. DIPCOG holds regular events enabling vendors to meet with Government Information Assurance policy makers and practitioners and to provide technical briefings to government representatives responsible for advising on InfoSec issues and requirements. At these meetings, the MoD also advises security product vendors on current strategy, policy and requirements. The events are held free of charge for anyone with responsibility for and active involvement in information security and Information Assurance work, such as IT Security Officers, System Architects and IT Procurement Officers. Louis Oley, UK managing director of SecureWave, a regular participant in the DIPCOG events commented, "We are delighted to receive DIPCOG approval for SecureWave Sanctuary products. This is an excellent initiative to ensure that government policy makers and those with active involvement in IA decision making are able to maintain links with the IT security industry so both sides are kept informed of current issues, solutions and best practice in infosecurity." For further details visit: 30 th October 2005 e-xstream engineering recent developments e-xstream engineering is a software and engineering consulting service company focused 100% on advanced micromechanical material modeling of composite materials and structures. Integralis consultants will be provided with thorough training on SecureWave Sanctuary products to enable them to provide pre and post sales support to customers in UK and Europe. "The growing threats posed to business networks by malware such as Trojans and spyware and the risk to information security posed by the ubiquitous use of removable storage media are driving an enormous demand for solutions that operate on a Default/Deny basis" said Louis Oley, UK managing director of SecureWave. "This relationship with the leading infosecurity systems integrator in Europe will ensure that our customers are properly supported within their territories at a time of exceptional growth". Graham Jones, UK managing director of Integralis said, "The need to manage devices and executables simply, is a message that is really permeating throughout both the public and private sectors.
