1 TWSP- Food Cupboard and Free Market Coordinator - OPIRG Eligibility/Funding Type: -TWSP (Trent Work Study Program Domestic Students) Job description For more information about OPIRG, the Free Market and Food Cupboard see ( The Food Cupboard Coordinator will work with OPIRG staff and board to: -Recruit and support the volunteers who keep the Free Market project and the OPIRG food cupboard open. For instance: update the volunteer schedule and contact list, help train new volunteers, and help plan a volunteer appreciation event and volunteer meetings. -Represent OPIRG at Kawartha Food Share meetings, help coordinate food drives, ensure monthly statistics are entered into excel spreadsheet, and analyze trends in usage on a monthly/yearly basis. Organize Free Market and Food cupboard files and resources. - Help organize give-aways/ special events on occasion and create promotional materials. Use Twitter, , Facebook, our Website and e-newsletter to recruit volunteers and promote our events/services. -Take on additional tasks as required for planning and carrying out OPIRG's initiatives. Including but not limited to documentary screenings, Annual General Meeting, volunteer training, Green Dishes and special events. Job Requirements: - strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. - commitment to anti-oppression and consensus-based decision making. - demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and ability to work well with diverse groups of people, treating everyone in a fair, supportive and cooperative manner. - good organizational and time management skills, ability to stay focused and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions - ability to work independently, take initiative, make good judgments, and show discretion when working with minimal supervision - ability to develop and give oral presentations to both large and small groups. - good leadership, planning and problem-solving skills - familiarity with how to promote events using social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. - Strong computer skills - Experience with Microsoft Excel, video editing, and graphic design software all assets OPIRG welcomes the contributions that individuals from marginalized communities bring to our organization, and invites aboriginal people, people of colour, women, LGBT, single parents, members of ethnic minorities and people with disabilities to apply. Job Requirements: - Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills - Commitment to anti-oppression and consensus-based decision making - Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and ability to work well with diverse groups of people, treating everyone in a fair, supportive and cooperative manner. - Good organizational and time management skills, ability to stay focused and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions - Ability to work independently, take initiative, make good judgments, and show discretion when working with minimal supervision - Ability to develop and give oral presentations to both large and small groups. - Good leadership, planning and problem-solving skills - Familiarity with how to promote events using social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. - Strong computer skills. - Experience with web site maintenance, video editing, and graphic design software is an asset. For instance: compile and maintain a volunteer list and update the volunteer schedule, help train new volunteers, and help plan a volunteer appreciation event and volunteer meetings. Liaise with OPIRG s working groups by attending working group meetings and by offering organizational support to the working groups. Represent OPIRG at community and working group meetings and act as a liaison between these groups and the OPIRG board of directors, Organize and update volunteer files/resources and help working groups to access the resources available at OPIRG. 9 TIP- Outreach Coordinator - OPIRG Eligibility/Funding Type: -TIP (Trent International Program - International Students) Job Description: For more information about the OPIRG see ( The TIP Outreach Coordinator will work with OPIRG staff and board of directors and volunteers to promote the organization and its programs as well. Specifically, the Outreach Coordinator is expected to: - Publicize OPIRG's resources and activities through electronic mediums including: website, electronic newsletter, facebook, twitter, video, photography etc. - Create posters, press releases, and displays that publicize OPIRG and OPIRG working groups' events. - Help recruit volunteers and promote OPIRG through talking to classes, tabling, and networking with other organizations. - Promote organization, events, and campaigns through liaising with local media - Work with other staff and board of directors to organize OPIRG events and help carry out ongoing OPIRG services.
