Dissertation Your dissertation is a compulsory part of your study should you wish to complete a Masters degree. It is normally around 15,000 words and is an independent piece of research, which is preferably based upon a practical problem in an area of particular interest to you and of relevance to your career or company. The real incentive for me to study was that it will help me get a promotion in the future. Everything that I ve done on the I ve been able to take back and use in the workplace. The different modules cover areas such as project management, strategic analysis and change management which are all considerably relevant in the NHS. As a part-time student I thought it would be tricky, but the flexibility that the offers is really helpful. Being able to access materials and online tutorials from home or anywhere means that I can fit it around my job and day-to-day life. The teaching facilities are really good and the lecturers are really helpful and supportive and very clear of what s expected in terms of a piece of assessment that you hand in. Furthermore, the has really given me the confidence to consider studying again in the future; I ve now seen that I really can fit it into my life and at this level of my career. I enjoy working in the NHS: there is a lot of variety and challenges as you can imagine, but equally all of the things that I ve learnt on the has meant that I can transfer all those skills and knowledge to almost anywhere I decide to work in the future. I chose to study at UWE because the module combination they were offering was brilliant. The quality of education combined with the support that I have received is unlike any other i have experienced anywhere else. I m an international student from Zambia and when I came to the UK for the very first time I saw how UWE values its students. The tutors were extremely supportive because they were always there when I needed help. They are very able and have the skills and knowledge to train you, teach you and equip you, so you are ready to step out into work. The has prepared me as it has honed my skills. I did not know anyone when I arrived but the University helped me settle in, including helping with how to register with a doctor and how to access other personal services.
