My degree was an essential requirement in my current role as Senior Specialist-Economist for the Department of Research and Strategic Analysis at the National Bank of Kazakhstan. The International Business Environment module was very practical; it taught me about regression analysis which is really useful in my current job. Innovation Management was very helpful to understand how current disruptive technologies create innovation and foster the growth of new businesses and new markets. Writing an international marketing plan had practical advantages as it enabled me to make financial projections such as the break-even-analysis, cash-flow statements and feasibility analysis. I also learnt how to write academic papers which was hugely valuable as it allows me to carry out research and write the reports in my current role more effectively. I found the people and the seminars lively and engaging. I benefitted greatly from the course and thoroughly enjoyed studying in a multicultural environment. armen González Gutiérrez MSc Marketing and Brand Management The most valuable experience I will take with me from my time at Essex Business School is the critical perspective to business that this course has shown me. In my undergraduate studies, most modules were not able to provide any critical views on the topics explored and instead stuck to the textbooks. This course opened new approaches, and has made me realise that what I had been taught before was just the tip of the iceberg. Through this course I have increased my business awareness. I now see more clearly the mechanisms of the market and its logic, as well as the risks that today s consumer practices imply for the environment and for the countries of the Global South. Moreover, I now have a more complete perspective of the functioning of organisations. When I arrived at Essex, I wanted to finish my Masters degree quickly and find a job. Now my aim is to do a PhD and work in academia. I am delighted to have recently been awarded an EBS Doctorial Scholarship. I see it as a meaningful and fulfilling career that will allow me to give something back to society. In any case, my experience at Essex Business School will be very useful for any future career
