8 FUNDING Current Grants and Contracts Trauma Recovery Initiative Evaluation This project is a five-year evaluation of a National Child Trauma Stress Network (NCTSN) Community Treatment and Services Center (Category III) grant. It specifically examines the implementation of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in Children s Home Society of Florida s Western Division (Pensacola, FL). The evaluation uses both quantitative and qualitative methods, and includes process and outcome evaluation components as well as a fidelity assessment of the implementation of TF-CBT. Role in Project: Principal Investigator of Evaluation Project Dates: October 2007 through September 2012 Development of an Intervention Model to Improve Educational Outcomes of Youth in Foster Care by Decreasing Runaway Behavior The purpose of this project is to stabilize foster care placement and improve academic outcomes youth with or at risk of disabilities through the development of a comprehensive manualized assessment and intervention model for youth in foster care. This effort builds upon more than 10 years of established work on theory of change and logic model development in funded system of care communities. Role in Project: Co- Investigator Project Dates: October 2008 through September 2013 Completed Grants and Contracts Actualizing Empowerment: Developing a Framework for Partnering with Families in System Level Service Planning and Delivery The purpose of this research was to identify the structures, processes and relationships that support and impede system level service planning and delivery decisions for families within systems of care. This secondary analysis of data from Holistic Studies of System of Care Implementation resulted in a framework for implementing family driven care within systems of care. Role in Project: Co-Principal Investigator Project Dates: October 2009 through September 2010 Child Mental Health Initiative National Evaluation, Phase V The purpose of this 5-year project was to (a) provide training and technical assistance to funded communities in creating theory of change logic models for their systems of care, (b) provide training and consultation to funded communities on the use of the System of Care Practice Review (SOCPR), (c) track logic models in order to assess system of care development over time, and (d) examine the impact of having theory-of-change logic models on the effectiveness of systems of care, including the incorporation of evidence-based practices, and the sustainability of system of care efforts in the system-of-care communities. Role in Project: Co-Investigator Project Dates: October 2006 through September 2010 Holistic Studies of System of Care Implementation. Study 2 of the Research and Training Center for Children s Mental Health The purpose of this research was to identify strategies that local communities undertake in implementing community-based systems of care and provide greater understanding of how factors affecting system implementation contribute to the development of local systems of care for children with serious emotional disturbance and their families. Funding Agency: Jointly funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research and the Center for Mental Health Services. Funding Level: $459,000. Refereed. Role in Project: Co-Investigator and Project Director Project Dates: October 2004 through March 2010 Developing Sustainable Infrastructure in Support of Quality Field-Based Practice The increasing emphasis on adopting evidence-based practices presents a unique challenge for communities: many long-standing community-based programs and practices have not been formally established as evidence-based. This project applied emergent research regarding theories of change and implementation science in support of quality field-based practice. The intervention will be based on a modified version of the Functional Assessment- Youth Interaction Tool (FA-YIT), a youth questionnaire designed to determine reasons that youth run away. The team will modify the FA-YIT, and will refine, formulate and field test intervention options for reducing runaway behavior tailored to the FA-YIT findings. 12 CURIC Research Infrastructure Collaborative The purpose of this project was to develop an infrastructure to transform the conduct, dissemination, and utility of locally-relevant data on mental health services and outcomes for children in Florida s child welfare system through a partnership between the Department of Child and Family Studies and the Children s Home Society of Florida.. Grant Foundation Proposed Funding Level: $500,000 Proposed Role in Project: Co-Investigator Proposed Project Dates: July 2010 through June 2013 Longitudinal Study of System Development CMHI National Evaluation Phase VI This study was intended to develop generalizable knowledge of best practices in system of care development through an investigation of the relationships, processes and structures by which newly-funded communities 1) conceptualize system change, 2) build interagency collaboration and develop multi-agency integration of functions, 3) develop systems within a framework of family-driven and youth-guided processes and policies, and 4) organize systems of care for the integration of evidence-based practices. 13 Proposed Role in Project: Co-Investigator Proposed Project Dates: October 2008 through September 2013 DEPARTMENT RESEARCH Developing Community Partners in Research: Children's Home Society of FL, Inc. The purpose of this project is to develop opportunities for externally funded research, evaluation, training, and technical assistance in areas of shared interest between the Department of Child and Family Studies in partnership with the Children's Home Society of Florida, Inc. The goal is to facilitate multiple involvements across a broad range of faculty in our department and to target priority areas aligned with the shared vision and mission of the two organizations. The foci of this researcher s collaborations with CHS are on assessing the needs of runaway youth and services within transitional living homes for youth aging out of foster care. Role in Project: CFS liaison Project Dates: October 2009 through present Online Learning in Children's Mental Health The purpose of this project is to develop capacity for online in-service training in children's mental health. Tasks include developing an infrastructure for online learning (OLL), development and/or redesign of courses for an OLL training format, and delivery of the trainings. This also includes outreach to national, state, and local audiences using a variety of formats as well as coordinating course registration and delivery with communities.
