The programs in Bachelor of Science in Construction Management (CM) or Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) place emphasis on all areas of construction and safety from the view point of the professional in the field. This includes all aspects from planning and operations to materials and structures. Students are provided in depth instruction to become managers in their respective fields of study. Special emphasis is placed on creative problemsolving and team building. The mission of the School of Technology is expressed in the University Bulletin as: To prepare individuals for industry, government, education and business who are uniquely proficient in the application of basic science and technology and who are capable of meeting the expanding challenge of high technology. This mission is congruent with the agricultural and technical mission of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and is stated in the University of North Carolina Long Range Plan as follows: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a public, comprehensive, land-grant institution committed to fulfilling its fundamental purpose through exemplary undergraduate and graduate instruction, scholarly and creative research, and effective public service. The University offers degree programs at the baccalaureate, master s and doctoral levels with emphasis on engineering, science, technology, literature and other selected areas. As one of North Carolina s three engineering institutions, the University offers Ph.D. programs in engineering. Basic and applied research is conducted by faculty in University centers of excellence, in interinstitutional relationships, and through significant involvement with several public and private agencies.
