5 Consultation and good design lead to: Recently moved into purpose built labs. Consultation has been excellent. 2. Our newly refurbished labs are having a significant, positive effect on pupils and teachers motivation.. 2. Teachers are expressing a renewed pride in their role while pupil confidence levels in their approach to science based subjects has improved greatly 1. PricewaterhouseCoopers, Evaluation of Science Laboratory Funding DfES, 2003 Royal Society of Chemistry, Laboratories, Resources and Budgets draft report, 2004

6 Lack of consultation and poor design lead to: New labs PFI-funded are unsafe or unsatisfactory. There was no consultation with the school with regard to the design. Due to poor design 2. The school attempted to provide advice on what was needed within the school but the LEA reflected no aspect of this in the project 1. Easter 2001 we (achieved) a refurbished lab, organised by XXXX LEA. Autumn 2001 the same lab failed a H&S check; organised by (the same) LEA 2. Labs have been refurbished in the recent past the designs and build are both well horrid. 2. My chemistry lab was refurbished 5 years ago... Problems included: and.. It is far worse than the 30 year old lab it replaced. 2. PricewaterhouseCoopers, Evaluation of Science Laboratory Funding DfES, 2003 Royal Society of Chemistry, Laboratories, Resources and Budgets report, 2004
