1 Tutorial 11: Configure Payment Options Objectives: Your goal in this tutorial is to learn how to: customize non-credit card payment options view payment methods view order-confirmation to customer set up a merchant account for instant credit card verification customize credit card handling and payment options Using NetStores, you have a variety of payment options both with credit cards and without. Getting Ready to Configure Your Payments NetStores Payment Options page allows you to decide what types of payment methods you want to make available to your customers. Whichever payment method you choose, you will need to start with the directions below: In your Internet browser, login to NetStores as instructed at the beginning of Tutorial 9. In the NetStores Merchant Administration Area, under Configuration click Configure Your Store (Fig. 9.3). Click Payment Options (Fig. 11.1). Figure 11.1 In Store Configuration, click Payment Options. Configure Non-Credit Card Payment Options NetStores has a number of options for payment without using credit cards. These include check, money order, collection on delivery (COD) and sending a quote without charging the customer. NetStores even allows you to indicate an alternative payment method. To set up payment methods that do not involve credit cards, follow these instructions: On the Payment Options page in NetStores, uncheck all the check boxes for credit cards (Fig. 11.2). 2 Select any of the other check boxes that you want to make available to your customers (Fig. 11.2). If you select Terms, enter a word or phrase that describes the payment method you would like to include. You could simply enter the word check or the phrase Money Order or enter both (Fig. 11.2). Click Save Changes (Fig. 11.2). Viewing the Payment Methods You Selected After setting up payment methods, you may want to look at a sample page displaying these options for the customer. To view your payment methods, follow these instructions: Click View Your Store Settings (Fig. 11.3). Figure 11.3 Click View Your Store Settings. 4 Fill in the name and address information on the Customer Information page (you can also reach this page by clicking New Customer Page), or if you already have a valid customer account number and password, use them (Fig. 11.7). Enter your own address. Figure 11.7 Customer Information form. a. At the top of the form, enter a customer account number and password if you already have one, or scroll down. Figure 11.7 Continued b. After scrolling down, fill in the Personal Information part of the form with name and address information as if you were a customer. Use your own address so you will be able to examine the order confirmation that is sent to the customer. Then click Complete Your Order at the bottom of the form. Click the pull-down menu arrow to see the methods you specified (Fig. 11.9). Pick a method and click Checkout. 6 Viewing Order Confirmation Once a customer has placed an order, NetStores responds with a order acceptance screen containing a reference or confirmation number (Fig ). NetStores also sends an confirmation to the customer. To view the confirmation, check your at the same account you entered when filling in the customer information in the previous section. The notice should look something like the one shown in Figure See Tutorial 12 for more about viewing orders from the merchant's point of view. Figure Acceptance screen. 7 Set up a Merchant Account for Instant Credit Card Verification Before you configure your store to have credit card payment options you need to have a merchant account to process credit card payments. To sign up for a merchant account, follow these instructions: Click Return to the main menu and then click Open Merchant Account (Fig ). Figure Click Open Merchant Account. Click Proceed with Secure Online App (Fig ). Continue through the series of application forms until you have filled out all of them. Then print the Congratulations Page and fax it to the fax number provided. When you have completed the application process, you are ready to configure your credit card payment options in the next section. Configure Credit Card Payment Options After setting up a merchant account, you can add credit card processing to your store through NetStores. On the Payment Options page in NetStores, you can select the credit cards your customers can use at your store. To set up payment methods including use of credit cards, follow these instructions: Return to the Merchant Administration Area (main menu) in NetStores and select Configure Your Store (Fig. 9.3). Click Payment Options (Fig. 11.1). On the Payment Options page, select a check box for each credit card you want to accept (Fig ). Select any of the other check boxes that you also want to make available to your customers (Fig ). If you select Terms, enter a word or phrase that describes the payment method you would like to include. You could simply enter the word check or the phrase Money Order or enter both (Fig ). Click Save Changes. If you would like to view your changes, follow the instructions above in the section on Viewing the Payment Methods You Selected. Figure shows the payment options set up in Figure Figure The bottom of the Order Total Form has all of the payment options in the dropdown menu. Select a credit card type for payment. You saw how to sign up for a merchant account so you can use instant credit-card verification. You learned how to view the payment methods you prepared. You also viewed an order-confirmation similar to that received by the customer. This completes the e- commerce features that your customers see, the front end.
