1 Luis Martín Gómez Rocha Curriculum Vitae Ph: +(575) Professional Experience 2003 present Research Engineer: Solar and Wind Energy Systems Las Cruces, New Mexico USA Southwest Region Solar Experiment Station - Institute for Energy and the Environment New Mexico State University Currently conducting and leading two USTDA-Funded feasibility studies for the El Salvador CEL 8.5 MW Solar Photovoltaic Power Pilot Project and the Colombia CELSIA 20 MW Hybrid Solar and Wind Project. Conduct solar and wind energy technical and policy analyses, workshops, and feasibility studies for various clients including Sandia National Laboratories, USAID, DOE, UNDP, NREL, World Bank, regulatory and planning commissions, etc. Conduct technical assessments of photovoltaic (PV) power systems in the USA for the DOE National Photovoltaic Program and in Mexico for Sandia National Laboratories. Proficient in the use of IV curve tracers, power meters, infrared imaging, and data acquisition to monitor field performance. Serve as IEE solar and wind energy data resource and reporting coordinator. Create content, design, and maintain the NMSU SWTDI renewable energy web page. Support Sandia National Laboratories with the DOE SunShot Initiative to bring down the cost of photovoltaic systems and installations for the American solar market. Developed and installed a Data Acquisition System (DAS) for Sandia National Laboratories for PV systems monitoring using National Instruments wireless technology in This system is used to monitor performance for the 19 MW SunEdison Great Sandhills Solar Plant in Alamosa Colorado. Assisted with the installation of a 20 kwp grid-connected PV array with a one-axis tracking system at the Southwest Region Solar Experiment Station on NMSU Central Campus in Conducted monthly wind data analysis for NMSU Agricultural Science Center at Clovis and written annual reports and windfarm modeling with WindPro software from Completed certification for the the WindPro Software Course in Minnesota in Assisted with the design and construction of a DAS to monitor PV battery charging station performance for Miskito indian villages in the Waspam for the World Bank as part of the Programa de Electrificación Rural de Zonas Aisladas (PERZA) for the Nicaraguan Energy Commission (2007). 2 Conducted research and studies for the United Nations Development Program in Mexico on integrating distributed wind energy as an element to diversify the farmer s economical base in Mexico, including environmental impacts of wind farms Served as an engineer and instructor from for the USAID/DOE Mexico Renewable Energy Program assisting FIRCO/SAGARPA with solar and wind energy training courses in Mexico and New Mexico. Also conducted performance field testing of nine PV water pumping systems installed in Mexico. Assisted with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Wind Energy Applications Training Symposium in 2003, 2006, and Also translated NREL wind energy technical documents into Spanish.
