2 PROCESS A WITH CHIP CARD The terminal screen will display The terminal is ready to process a different messages. transaction. If the merchant swipes initially the chip card through magnetic stripe reader instead of inserting into the chip reader, the terminal will display the following messages: Error - Use chip reader and Press a Key. The terminal will read the chip card and some messages will be displayed. In the top of the terminal screen will be displayed the options available in the customer s card for processing the transaction (Ex. VISA, M/C, VISA Debit, Maestro, etc.). If more than one option is presented, the customer will select the choice of preference. It may be the chip card has only one option of processing. The options will depend on how the chip card was issued by the financial institution. The transaction processing will continue as usual. In this example the transaction will be processed as debit. Enter the sale amount without taxes and press State Tax If no state tax applies, press number zero (0) key and ENTER. -2-

3 Continuation... PROCESS A WITH CHIP CARD Enter the state tax amount and press Mun. Tax If no municipality tax applies, press number zero (0) key and ENTER. Enter the municipality tax amount and press Tip Amount If no tip amount applies, press Enter the tip amount, if it applies. Verify the total sale amount and press ENTER (YES) key. The customer will enter the password in the terminal or external PIN pad and press Total $0.00 Correct? Yes or No Total $0.00 Enter PIN Processing Now Approval If the processing option selected was debit, the customer will enter the PIN number on the terminal or external PIN pad and will press ENTER. Note: If the terminal is not accessible for the customer to enter the PIN number; the transaction must be cancelled and the merchant must request another method of payment. Examples of this type of scenario: The terminal is located in a gas station booth and the customer does not have access to it to enter the PIN number. The terminal is located under a counter and the customer cannot access that area to enter the PIN number. Any other place where the customer cannot access the terminal to enter the PIN number. In this example the transaction will be processed as debit. If selected credit as processing option, the terminal will request the entry of the last four (4) last digits of the card. merchant s receipt. -3-

Press Select Item or Scroll The terminal will display the main ATH EBT Cash Chk Select ATH option to process ATH, VISA and Master Card transactions. Insert the card into the chip reader located in the bottom of the terminal.. Swipe Customer Card Or Press ENTER for Menu EMV EMV Fallback: Remove Card and Swipe The terminal will read the chip card and if it had a condition, it will display the message: EMV Fallback: Remove Card and Swipe. Remove the card from the chip reader. Swipe Customer Card Or Press ENTER for Menu The terminal will request to swipe the card through the magnetic stripe reader. Swipe the card through the magnetic stripe reader. ################### The terminal will show the card number used to process the transaction. The transaction processing will continue as usual. In this example the transaction will be processed as credit (Master Card). Press Enter Last 4 No of Customer Card Enter the last four (4) digits of the customer card and press Base Amount -5-

DEBIT CARD? No CLEAR Yes ENTER The terminal will show the total sale amount with taxes. Press No (CLEAR) to process the transaction as credit.
