18 ATHLETICALLY RELATED FINANCIAL AID Athle+cs scholarships in Divisions I and II are given ini+ally for up to one year. They may be renewed annually for a maximum of five years within a six- year period of con+nuous college aeendance if you fulfill NCAA requirements. But please keep in mind that your athle+cs aid can be cancelled or reduced at the end of one year. Athle+cs scholarships can be renewed, reduced, increased or canceled from year to year for almost any reason. If your scholarship is going to be reduced or cancelled at any +me, your college or university must first provide you with an opportunity to appeal that decision. Athle+cs scholarships are awarded in a variety of amounts, ranging from full scholarships (including tui+on, fees, room, board and books) to very small scholarships that, for example, provide only required course- related books.
