Conducted feasibility studies on the viability of establishment of a branch of Kenya Utalii College at the Coast. 5 Mr. Robert Lugwe was admitted at Kwale High School for his East African Certificate of Education before proceeding to Nakuru High School for his Advanced Level Education. His major combination for the Advanced Level of Education was Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In 1974, Mr. Lugwe influenced by his home environment; the major Tourism Resort Region, Coast Province, he joined the Hotel Management Diploma course programme, thereby graduating in Prior to his graduation, Mr. Lugwe was awarded a six months internship programme in London for being one of the top performers of his class. Mr. Lugwe has since pursued his Bachelor of Science degree at Florida International University, USA. He is a postgraduate of the Business School, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Mr. Lugwe has been honoured by the Institute of Hospitality as a Fellow; being the only one in this part of the continent to hold this status because of his contributions and standing thereby reflecting a commitment to maintaining the highest standards as hospitality professional. He has participated in a number of professionally oriented course programmes at the famous Cornel Hotel School, USA. Mr. Lugwe served as Deputy Director of Studies at Kenya Utalii College where he developed thorough networking arrangements with International partners. The American Hospitality Academy honoured him as the first distinguished member of the Academy representing the African Continent. In 2003, Mr. Lugwe taught Hospitality courses at Kenyatta University, Nairobi. From here, Mr. Lugwe was competitively sourced for the position of Director, Student Welfare Authority at the University of Nairobi, responsible to the council on the day to day Strategic Management of the hospitality division of the University. Mr. Lugwe has excelled in turning round the management of the University s most demanding division. Mr. Lugwe has made successful presentations in International Fora. He has excellent presentation skills. He is self-motivated, has high integrity and is a team player. 5
