1 1 To be considered for a UT Austin freshman honors program, you must complete and submit the following items by December 01, 2014: 1. ApplyTexas Application for Freshman Admission and all required materials and test scores. 2. Online honors program application. 3. Additional forms or documents that may be required as part of the honors program(s) to which you re applying. STEP 1: SELECT HONORS PROGRAM(S) Based on the first and second choice majors you selected on the ApplyTexas Application for Freshman Admission, you may apply to the following honors program(s). Select the honors program(s) for which you d like to apply. College of Natural Sciences Honors Before applying, visit the CNS Honors Center. Return to this application to apply to the program. Your application may automatically be considered for other programmatic and departmental honors opportunities that do not require additional applications. Dean s Scholars (College of Natural Sciences) Health Science Scholars (College of Natural Sciences) Polymathic Scholars (College of Natural Sciences) Turing Scholars (Department of Computer Science in the College of Natural Sciences) Human Ecology Honors (Department of Nutritional Sciences and Department of Human Development and Family Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences) If an honors program that you re interested in applying to is not displayed, you must change your first and/or second choice major(s) in order to apply to that program. 5 5 STEP 3: COMPLETE PROGRAM-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS NATURAL SCIENCES HONORS: Please select the program(s) to which you would like to apply. You can apply to as many of the programs listed on this page as interest you, except that you may choose at most one of the three college-wide honors programs. If an honors program that you re interested in applying to is not displayed, you must change your first and/or second choice major(s) in order to apply to that program.* College-wide Honors Programs Dean s Scholars * Health Science Scholars* Polymathic Scholars* *CNS college-wide honors programs share a common application; if you apply to one of these programs, that program will review your application first, but the other programs may review your application to determine best fist. 6 6 TURING SCHOLARS: BACKGROUND DESCRIPTION Describe your significant activities, employment, and achievements. Be sure to include information that is relevant to the study of computer science. For example, you may describe classes and programming activities, other science and math activities, honors and awards, and other activities that demonstrate leadership potential. TURING SCHOLARS: EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER GOALS Describe your educational and career goals. Please limit your response to no more than 100 words. Additional materials may still be needed from you in order to complete your honors program application. 7 7 STEP 4: YOU MUST SUBMIT ADDITIONAL HONORS PROGRAM(S) APPLICATION ITEMS Based on the honors program(s) you selected in STEP 1, the following items must be received in the Office of Admissions by December 01, Any honors or admissions documents that are uploaded using our Document Upload System or mailed to the Office of Admissions must include your full name and UT EID on each page. Application materials sent or delivered directly to the honors program offices may not be added to your application resulting in an incomplete application. Box 8058 Austin, TX Natural Sciences Honors Dean s Scholars, Health Science Scholars, Polymathic Scholars, Turing Scholars, and Human Ecology Honors: CNS Honors Center Required Documents: Recommendation: One (1) recommendation must be submitted to the Office of Admissions from a math or science teacher (computer science teacher preferred if applying to Turing Scholars) at your high school who is knowledgeable of your preparedness for the College of Natural Sciences Honors Program. Use the online honors program recommendation system to send a request for a recommendation. A mailed or faxed letter of recommendation does not fulfill this requirement. Résumé: Submit online a professional business résumé to the Office of Admissions using the résumé format specified by the Office of Admissions. If you already submitted an expanded résumé for your application for admission or for another honors program, you do not need to submit another résumé for the honors program application.
