Worked with Media Services Department to help plan and implement automation projects for schools. Responsible for selection, ordering and installation of audio-visual equipment, satellite systems, cable TV, closed-circuit TV systems and TV studios. 7/92-1/97 Media Coordinator Oaklawn Elementary School of Math, Science and Technology Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System Responsible for administration of library, skills instruction for grades K-5. Supervision of two half-time media assistants. Responsible for staff development in information technology and computer use. Chaired the Comprehensive School Planning Committee and the Media Advisory Committee Supervised conversion of library to Dynix automation system. Coordinated production of multi-media projects using PEAKS and Media- Text software, provided access to Internet, trained staff in the use of desktop publishing software, scanners and the information management program-imseries, Network administrator for Macintosh local area network. 8/91-7/92 Media Coordinator Piedmont Open Middle School Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System Responsible for skills instruction for grades 6-9, supervision of 24 library assistants and one full-time clerk, collection development and all other aspects of library administration. 3

Supervised one assistant and 4-5 volunteers. Developed in-service training workshops and participated in the development of system guidelines for media services. Duties included original cataloging, media skills instruction, all book and media selection, chair of media advisory committee, instructional materials development and equipment and materials repair. 8 Civil Rights Greensboro Digital Project ( ) Worked with project coordinators of LSTA grant project Civil Rights Greensboro to provide K-12 resources for digital collections. Students from LIS 654, The School Library Media Specialist and Curriculum, used the digital collection to create lesson plans that would enable K- 12 teachers to utilize the collection. Dissertation Committee (2010) Served on Karen Gavigan s dissertation committee. Her research focused on the use of graphic novels with male readers. Research Projects Comparison of State School Library Media Standards, AASL Taskforce on Quantitative Standards. ( ) This project, sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians, is a content analysis of the quantitative standards set by individual states for school library media programs, facilities and personnel.
