1 EARLY CHILDHD EDUCATIN CNSULTANT JB SUMMARY Under direction of the department manager, provide consultative services in various early childhood education related areas to improve the learning milieu for all children ages 0-5 in schools Kings County; serve as coordinator for the Quality Improvement Initiatives and Preschool Classrooms, advise child care providers in the process of completing requirements for advancement; and do other related work as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATINS Knowledge of: Proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation; Child Development Permit matrix; Appropriate instructional materials for early childhood education and reliable sources and suppliers; Policies, rules, laws, codes, regulations and guidelines governing early childhood education programs; Accepted and effective techniques and strategies for working collaboratively with others in the educational field; EL Language development curriculum; Curriculum and Instructional strategies and methodologies appropriate for children ages 0-5; State and federal laws governing education, and the policies, rules and regulations, applicable to Early Childhood Education programs; Experience in facilitating student support programs. Environmental ratings scales (ITERS, FCCERS, ECERS); Desired Results Developmental Profile 2015; California Preschool Foundations and Frameworks, Volumes 1-3. Ability to: Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults from diverse backgrounds contacted in the course of work; Understand, carry out and communicate oral and written directions; Communicate effectively with the staff and community; Facilitate effective meetings, make presentations, and provide formal and informal training, assistance and guidance to program participants and educational staff; Gather and analyze data and prepare clear, concise reports, proposals, procedure manuals and documentation incorporating text, graphs and graphics, utilizing software programs for word processing and spreadsheets; Work independently with directives, strictly adhering to program requirements, deadlines and due dates; Work collaboratively with educators, agencies, and the general public; Maintain accurate records and files; Be flexible and receptive to change; Attend in-service training, conferences and meetings, as needed. 1

2 Education and Experience: A Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field is required. Experience in early childhood education or child care is required. License, Certificate and Testing Requirements: Possess or be eligible to apply for a valid California Teaching Credential as a Child Development Master Teacher, Site Supervisor, or Director. Possess a valid California driver license and maintain insurability. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Under the direction of the department manager, advise child care providers in the process of completing requirements for advancement on the Child Development Permit matrix; Assist child care providers in choosing activities and/or classes to increase knowledge and skills relating to improving the quality of child care programs for young children. Assist child care providers in developing educational and vocational goals which are supportive of advancement on the Child Development Permit matrix and the obtaining of college and/or university degrees; Recruit child care providers for program participation; Prepare agendas, minutes, reports, fliers, brochures and presentations, and plan, coordinate, promote and conduct meetings, workshops and conferences; Coordinate, implement and monitor the activities and requirements of ECE quality projects/cspp programs; Monitor and audit program compliance, maintain records, and accurately complete and submit reports and expenditure documentation in strict adherence to all guidelines and due dates; Act as the liaison to participants, public and private agencies, and the local community, and collaborate with educators and support staffs, government agencies, businesses, and community groups to promote services from within and throughout the County; Serve as a resource to provide formal and informal training, guidance and assistance to students, educators, parents, service providers and agencies, as needed; Keep current with issues, laws and regulations regarding early childhood education curricular activities, special education, educational trends, and other related issues; rganize and facilitate county wide training, serve as a consultant to area school districts, public and private agencies, local businesses and trades, and the community; Attend professional conferences, workshops, and meetings, as required; Provide and model application of relevant child development resources including California Frameworks and Foundations; Review and discuss child, classroom and program data with various educational staff; rganize and facilitate professional development activities; Perform other related duties, as assigned. 2
