1 PENSACOLA STATE COLLEGE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS CALL OR FOR MORE INFORMATION 40 & 8 Nursing Scholarship Up to $500 for up to 20 eligible nursing students, awarded by the Nursing department head, Students must have completed one term of nursing courses. Awards are competitive with consideration of other financial aid sources. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien. Applications must be submitted to the Nursing Department. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. Scholarship will cover registration fees and/or books. A.O. Godwin Law Enforcement Endowed Scholarship Between $250 and $1,000 per student per term, awarded by the Criminal Justice Program Coordinator, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a 2.5 grade point average. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien. Student must be a resident of Northwest Florida and enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Student must be enrolled in a program leading to an award, certificate or associate s degree in law enforcement. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and/or books. Aaron Lee Thomas Memorial Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,000 per term as funds allow awarded by Financial Aid, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. He or she may be enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. Scholarship will cover tuition, registration fees and/or books. Preference is given to a graduate of the former Woodham High School. ABE/GED Scholarship (Sharon Kerrigan) Undetermined amount awarded by the Adult Basic Education Department head, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding. He or she must be a United States citizen or resident alien and live in the downtown area. Student must be enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. ABWA Scholarship (American Business Women s Assoc.) Up to $350 per term as funds allow, awarded by Financial Aid,

2 Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Student must have completed at least 12 credit hours at Pensacola State College. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and live in Escambia or Santa Rosa counties. He or she may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Scholarship will cover registration fees, tuition and/or books. Preference is given to a female in an associate s degree program. AFCEA Blue Angels Chapter Scholarship Up to $750 per student awarded by the head of the Department of Engineering Technology, Student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student must be a declared technical major: preferably Computer Science, Electronics, Networking or Telecommunications career aspirations. (Student must be pursuing an associate s degree, certificate, or an award program.) This scholarship may be renewable. African-American Memorial Endowment Up to $1,000 per semester per student, awarded by the Black History Committee, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a 2.5 grade point average. He or she must be a United States citizen or resident alien as well as a Northwest Florida resident. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Preference will be given to African American students. Scholarship will cover tuition, registration fees, and/or books. Alexis Bolin Endowed Scholarship in Honor of Sonia Burchett and Rachel Barshafsky Up to $1000 per year as funds allow, awarded by Career and Technical Education Student Resources, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.7. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis in a degree seeking or certification program. Preference will be given to a child of a single parent or a single parent. Student must write a 500-word essay describing educational and life goals and explaining how they will use this education to further themselves and/or their family. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, books and materials required on the syllabus. Alfred I. DuPont Foundation Endowed Scholarship Between $500 and $1,000 per student per year as funds allow, awarded by Financial Aid, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Student must be a United States citizen. Student must enroll

3 or be enrolled in a program of study leading to an associate s degree, certificate, or an award program. He or she may be enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. Preference if applicable will be given in the following order: resident citizen of Northwest Florida, resident citizen of Florida and finally, resident citizen of the United States. When state matching funds are available, the Pensacola State College Foundation will apply to match funds contributed by this Foundation, and these funds will be disbursed through the Alfred I. dupont Foundation Scholarship. American Legion Hanniton Watts Post 193 Up to $300 per student per term, awarded by the director of Minority Recruitment, Recipient may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis, with preference given to a minority student. Scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and other educational expenses. Any funds unused by the recipient do not carry forward to the next term. Ami-Lee Wilder Memorial Endowment Award of $1,000 per year, selected by a Phi Theta Kappa committee, The scholarship endowment was established in 1991 in memory of Ami-Lee Wilder who was a student at Pensacola State College at the time of her death. Ami-Lee was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, thus, the scholarship is awarded preferably to an honor student. Funds for the scholarship are provided by an endowment established by family and friends of Ami-Lee. The Liberty Sertoma Club, of which Ami s mother is a member, sponsors a golf tournament in Ami-Lee s name each year as a means to raise funds for the scholarship. Part-time or full-time student must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average, be a U.S. citizen or resident alien living in Northwest Florida. Preference is to be given to applicants who are second year students and members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Theta Chi Chapter. Preference will be given to, but not limited to, older returning students. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and books. Anna Lamar Switzer Visual Arts Scholarship Two renewable full-tuition ($1,500) given annually to incoming freshmen for Fall/Spring semesters, awarded by the Visual Arts department head, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien. Student must be a graduate of an area high school (Escambia/Santa Rosa counties.) Student may be enrolled full or part-time and enroll or be enrolled as an art major in one of the department s degree programs. (Art Studio, Graphic Design or Multimedia.) Portfolio of work should contain examples of art work, matted or appropriately presented (frames not required), as a sheet of 35mm slides or both. Anniece Addy Brooks RN Memorial Nursing Scholarship Two $250 scholarships to two students, fall and spring terms, awarded by the nursing department

4 head, The scholarship was established by Cmdr. Robert A. Brooks. Sr., USN, in memory of his wife, Anniece Addy Brooks. The scholarship will be awarded to a Registered Nursing student in need of financial assistance, who is seeking an A.S. degree. The eligible applicant must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship shall be awarded to two qualifying students each fall term and two qualifying students each spring term in the amount of $250 each. This one-time scholarship may be used for tuition only. Apple Corps Foundation Endowed Scholarship Minimum $250 up to maximum of $600 per term, awarded by the Warrington Provost, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. He or she must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled in a program of study within Health and Health Services. (Pursuing an associate s degree, certificate, or an award program.) Student may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Scholarship will cover registration fees tuition, and/or books. APWA Emerald Coast Chapter Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,000 per term as funds allow, awarded by the director of the Center for Information and Engineering Technology, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Preference will be given to students enrolled in engineering, accounting, computer science or business. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Bank of Pensacola Endowed Scholarship From $500 to $1,000 per semester, awarded by Financial Aid, Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5, be a U.S. citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida or South Alabama. Student must be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Preference will be given to bank employees, their children or spouses, or other individuals pursuing a career in commercial banking or finance. Scholarship covers fees, tuition and/or books. Baptist Health Care Foundation Nursing Endowed Scholarship Amount is variable to cover full cost to complete the RN program, awarded by the Nursing department head, This scholarship is established through the generous gifts of the many donors to the Baptist Health Care Foundation including the family and friends of Michael Douglas, Jim Haller, Kate Lytle Liggett, Ryan McGee and Fe White. Students may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis, with the requirement that the recipient must complete the course study within three

5 calendar years of award of scholarship. Students must have and maintain a grade point average of 2.5. Student must demonstrate the academic excellence to enroll and successfully complete the two-year nursing program. Preference will be given to Baptist Health Care employees or their dependents. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, books and material required on the syllabus. Baptist Hospital Employee Foundation Scholarship (Baptist Employees Helping Hands) Limited to tuition not covered by Baptist Hospital, awarded by Financial Aid, Order of preference for scholarship is first, employee (any degree/certificate program), then dependent (any degree/certificate program.) It is a one-term scholarship given in the fall, spring, and summer. Baptist Hospital Education Department must verify employment. They are eligible for assistance after three months of employment at Baptist Hospital, must have a good work record and must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average based on a high school transcript of less than 10 years or a minimum of 12 hours of college credit. This scholarship will cover tuition only up to 10 semester hours. Batson Physical Therapy Assistant Scholarship A maximum of $750 to each student, awarded by the Dental & Emergency Services department head, Students must be currently enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program and hold a minimum grade point average of 2.5. No student may receive more than one Batson Scholarship Award. Preference will be given to those students who do not have access to other financial aid sources. Students must complete all parts of the application and sign. Scholarship covers tuition, fees and/or books. B.J. Miller Memorial Scholarship Up to $1,000 maximum as funds allow, awarded by the English department head, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Student must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien and be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Preference will be given to a student editor or staff member of The Hurricane Review. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, books and supplies required on the syllabus. Bea Grow Memorial Endowed Scholarship Established by Pensacola Charity Volunteers, this $250 scholarship is awarded by Financial Aid, This scholarship is to be awarded to a deserving local high school graduate majoring in a discipline that serves humanity; for example, counseling, nursing, medical, social work, etc. The student must be financially needy but not necessarily as determined by federal criteria. The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average and may only receive this award once.

6 This scholarship may be used for tuition only for part-time or full-time students. Betty and Jim Salter Endowed Scholarship Up to $500 per semester, awarded by the Pensacola Boy s Base, The recipient must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding, have a minimum 2.0 grade point average and be a U.S. citizen or resident alien enrolled full-time or part-time in vocational classes or working toward an A.A. or A.A.S. degree. Student must have completed the GED program at Pensacola Boy s Base or enrolled as a Dual Enrollment student while at PBB. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and books. Blue Cross/Blue Shield Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship Maximum of $1,000 per student per term, awarded by the nursing department head ( ), the allied health head ( ) and the dental and emergency services head ( ). Student must enroll or be enrolled full- or part-time in one of the designated Nursing, Allied Health, or Dental & Emergency Services programs that are considered Allied Health programs. Student must demonstrate financial need. A copy of the student s completed FAFSA* (federal aid application) form must be attached to the Foundation Scholarship Application. Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Student must be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or resident alien. Recipient must attach a letter to the application, explaining why they chose their field and thanking the donor. Scholarship will cover tuition, books, fees and materials required on the syllabus. Bobby Depew Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,000 per term as funds allow, awarded by Financial Aid, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Santa Rosa County. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. Scholarship will cover registration fees and/or books. Brighter Futures Foundation Scholarship Up to $1,000 maximum for the year, awarded by Financial Aid, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and be an entering freshman, enrolled full-time. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien, a Florida high school graduate and a Florida resident. Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Student must be of good moral character, defined as no prior criminal convictions. Student should write a one-page statement telling about themselves and why they should be awarded the scholarship. Scholarship will cover registration fees and/or books up to $1,000 for the year.

7 Cantonment Rotary Club Culinary Endowed Up to $500 per term as funds allow, awarded by the director of the Culinary department, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum 2.5 grade point average. He or she must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled in the Culinary program on a full-time or half-time basis. Recipient must be approved by Cantonment Rotary prior to award and recipient(s) will be invited to the Cantonment Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Award event. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and books. Cantonment Rotary Club Ike Terry Music Endowed Up to $1,000 each for two students per term as funds allow, awarded by Music and Theater, Student must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida or South Alabama. Student must enroll or be enrolled in a music program on a full-time or half-time basis. Recipient to be approved by Cantonment Rotary prior to award and will be invited to the Cantonment Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Award event. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and books. Cantonment Rotary Club Legal Assistant Endowed Up to $500 per term as funds allow, awarded by the director of the Legal Assisting program, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled in the Legal Assistant program on a full-time or half-time basis. Selection must be approved by Cantonment Rotary and recipient/s will be invited to the Cantonment Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Award event. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and books. Cantonment Rotary Club Ted Ciano Vocational Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,500 per term as funds allow, awarded by the department head of Automotive Technology, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled in an automotive technology vocational program on a full-time or half-time basis. First preference will be to applicants actively participating in a vocational co-op program; second preference will be applicants who are vocational secondary level school graduates from a course with an emphasis on automotive technology and third preference will be to applicants deemed highly qualified by the Automotive Technology department head. Selection to be approved by Cantonment Rotary prior to award and recipient(s) will be invited to the Cantonment Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Award event.

Cantonment Rotary Club Vocational I Student Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,500 per term as funds allow, awarded by the department head of Automotive Technology, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Student must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien living in Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled in an automotive service vocational program of study on a full-time or half-time basis. Selection to be approved by Cantonment Rotary prior to award and recipient(s) will be invited to the Cantonment Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Award event. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and books. Cantonment Rotary Club Vocational II Student Endowed Up to $1,000 per semester, as funds allow, awarded by the director of Disabled Support Services/ADA, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.0. He or she must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled in a vocational program of study, full-time or half-time. Selection will be approved by Cantonment Rotary prior to award and recipient(s) will be invited to the Cantonment Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Award event. Preference is given to disabled students. Scholarship will cover registration fees and/or books. Carolyn Denise Carter Memorial Endowed The Visual Arts Department head ( ) awards $500 per term. Candidate must be enrolled at an accredited college level institution. The applicant will be selected by a selection panel composed of members of the Pensacola State College art department and a representative from Art on the Tracks. The panel will establish criteria for differentiating between eligible applicants, but will include as a minimum first, the extent of the applicant s commitment to a career in the visual arts; second, demonstrated ability by academic achievement and/or portfolio review; third, lack of financial support would prevent the applicant from continuing her art studies or would impose a severe economic hardship on the applicant. Preference will be given to a female. Scholarship is for tuition, books and supplies as required on the art syllabus. Cas and Anne Dunlap Endowed Variable as funds allow, awarded by Developmental Studies, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a score below the minimum level on the College Placement Test, therefore requiring college preparatory classes in Writing I and II and Reading I and II. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien, enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis.

Casey Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,000 per student per term as funds allow, awarded by Financial Aid, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. Chadbourne Foundation Endowed Up to $2,000 per year for full scholarships or a variable amount for partial awards as needed, awarded by Milton ( ) and Pensacola campus provosts ( ), the Pensacola State College Foundation executive director ( ) and the Honors Program director ( ). A deserving student enrolled full time at Pensacola State College in the A.S., A.A. or Vocational Technical programs at Pensacola State College. A part-time student may be considered for a partial award under certain circumstances as determined by the awarding administrator. The eligible student must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average, be a resident of Escambia or Santa Rosa County and demonstrate financial need. Funds may be used for tuition, fees and books. Charles and Mercedes Keller Endowed Between $250 and $1,000 per student per term, awarded by Financial Aid, The student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding, have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, be a U. S. citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida. He or she must be enrolled on a full-time basis in a program leading to an award, certificate or associate s degree. Preference will be given to an Escambia High School graduate. Scholarship will cover tuition fees and/or books. Charles M. Hardin Memorial Endowed Scholarship One student is given $250 in the fall and spring, awarded by the Pensacola State College Jazz Ensemble Director and the Music Department Chairman, Applicant must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average, be enrolled 12 hours each term as a music major at Pensacola State College and be involved in the Pensacola State College wind and jazz ensembles. Applicant must distinguish him/herself in jazz through performances in: their high school jazz program, the Northwest Florida High School Jazz Ensemble sponsored by Pensacola State College or the Pensacola State College Jazz Ensemble. Scholarship covers tuition, fees and/or books. Charlie Clary Endowed Scholarship Up to $1,000 per semester per student as interest permits, renewable if students remains in good

10 academic standing, awarded by the Center for Information and Engineering director, Student must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be a Florida resident. Student may be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. Preference is given to student majoring in Drafting and Design Technology. Chester Miller Endowed Memorial Scholarship Up to $1,000 per semester as funds allow, awarded by Financial Aid, Student should demonstrate a need for supplemental funding, have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, be a U.S. citizen or resident alien living in Escambia, Santa Rosa or Okaloosa counties and be enrolled half- or full-time. Preference will be given to youth who come from foster homes or alternative school environments. Children's Services Center Sielski Two $400 scholarships in fall semester and three $400 scholarships in spring, contingent on receipt of match, awarded by the Pensacola State College campus assistant provost, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien, having completed two semesters of study and be enrolled full-time or half-time in a program of study leading to an associate s degree in early childhood education or a child development associate certificate (CDA). In addition, each applicant must also submit a 250 word essay describing the importance of early childhood education as well as their career plans for involvement in the field and/or current experience working in the field. Scholarship may be used for tuition, course fees and/or books. Cindy Norton Memorial Endowed Between $250 and $600 per term, awarded by the Milton provost, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. He or she must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien and be a Milton resident. Student must enroll or be enrolled part-time or full-time in general studies leading to an associate s degree. City of Pensacola Fire Department Variable as funds allow, awarded by the director of Applied Health Technology, Student must demonstrate a need for supplemental funding, have a minimum grade point average of 2.0, be a U.S. citizen or resident alien and be enrolled full- or part-time in an Emergency Services program or other degree-seeking field. Preference will be given to Pensacola Fire Department employees. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, books and materials required by the syllabus.

11 Coalition of Professional Employees (COPE) Up to $1,000 per student per semester, awarded by Financial Aid, Student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. (If student maintains a 2.5 average scholarship is renewable.) Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and a resident of Northwest Florida, enrolled full-time or part-time. Preference is given to an older student returning to complete their education. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and/or books. Coastal Plains Chapter AWMA (Air Waste Management) Maximum $800 per year or a variable amount for partial awards as needed, awarded by the Milton provost, Available to a first or second year student studying environmental science or physical science, who shall provide proof of their high school and college GPAs. The applicant shall provide three letters of recommendation. (No letters will be allowed from the members of the selection committee.) In addition, they shall provide a 500-word paper on their personal and professional goals. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, and books. Cody Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship Up to $500 per term as funds allow, awarded by the Visual Arts Department Head, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and enrolled on a full-time or half-time basis. He or must be a United States citizen or resident alien. Preference will be given to graduates of Tate High School. College Reach-Out Program Scholarship Amount is variable, awarded by Dean of Students, Warrington campus, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in high school or a 2.5 in college. Student must be a U. S. citizen or resident alien and a resident of Escambia or Santa Rosa County, planning to enroll or be enrolled full-time or part-time in a program leading to an associate s degree, certificate, or an award program. Preference will be given to academically/financially disadvantaged students in the Northwest Florida College Reach Out Program and scholarship is renewable as long as criteria are met and student is crime-free and drug-free. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees and books. Colonel Wayne O. Jefferson, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Minimum $250 per student per semester, awarded by the Milton campus provost, Eligible student must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average and be seeking an

12 A.S. or A.A. in Natural Resource Conservation, Environmental Studies, Agricultural Science or Forestry on a full-time or part-time basis. He or she must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and live within a 250-mile radius of Pensacola State College. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books or supplies. Curt Spiegelhalter Financial Aid ( ) awards $450 per term. Awarded to a deserving student with good character. Would prefer a minimum 2.5 grade point average, but intent and attitude supersede grades for part-time or full-time students. Funds available may be used for tuition, books, fees and other educational expenses. Debby Dubay Reading Endowed Scholarship Variable amounts, awarded by Developmental Studies, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding or must have placed below the minimum level on the College Placement Test and therefore be required to take college preparatory reading classes or vocational preparatory reading classes. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien, enrolled full-time or part-time seeking a degree or certificate. Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, books and materials required on the syllabus. Dental Assisting Scholarship Variable amounts awarded by Dental & Emergency Services department head, Student must demonstrate a financial need for supplemental funding and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien and live in Northwest Florida. Student must enroll or be enrolled part-time or full-time in program of study leading to an associates degree, certificate, or an award program. Preference is given to students studying in the dental field. Scholarship will cover emergency tuition, registration fees and/or books/supplies as syllabus states.
