If I take the FBAT for Corrections, is that good for Law Enforcement too? No. The FBAT consists of three tests covering the corrections, law enforcement, and correction-probations jobs. Each test is only good for that particular job. 2. Is the FBAT test the same as the CJBAT test? Both the FBAT test and the CJBAT test (and the Morris & McDaniel, Inc. FDLE Entry-Level Police Exam) are approved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and should be accepted at any Florida Criminal Justice agency. The FBAT is a multi-media, webbased test, operated by the Miami Dade College. The CJBAT is a written and computer administered test operated by an out of state organization. The FDEL entry-level Police exam is a written administered test operated by an out of state organization. Please contact the specific Florida Criminal Justice agency that you are applying with for more information. 3. How long is the FBAT test valid for? As per the FDLE, the FBAT test is good for two (2) years from the test date. 4. I failed the FBAT test the first time I took it, when can I take it again? You must wait thirty (30) days to take the FBAT test after failing it for the first time. If you fail the FBAT test a second time, you must then wait ninety (90) days to take it again. If you fail the FBAT test the third or more times, you must wait ninety (90) days to take it again. 5. I don t live in the state of Florida, can I take the test in my home state?
3 No. The FBAT department is no longer conducting out of state testing. You must travel to the state of Florida to take one of our tests. There are several options that we offer to accommodate applicants traveling to Florida. 4 Remote In-State Testing Miami Dade College FLORIDA BASIC ABILITIES TEST (FBAT) Remote In-State Testing Candidate Instructions PER THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, THE FBAT DEPARTMENT IS NO LONGER CONDUCTING OUT OF STATE TESTING. ONLY REMOTE IN-STATE TESTING IS BEING CONDUCTED. ANY INQUIRIES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE TRAINING & STANDARDS DIVISION AT THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT ( ). Thank you for choosing to use the Miami Dade College FBAT test in order to become a law enforcement, corrections, or corrections-probation officer in the State of Florida. The cost of this test is $30 (Money order only). Please follow the steps below in order to insure an efficient testing process. Step 1: the Miami-Dade College FBAT Department: requesting to take the FBAT test at a remote site. The instruction will be to you. Please follow the instruction, the instruction will read: Go to a local college or university testing center and inform them that you will need a test proctor to proctor a Florida Basic Abilities test (FBAT). Let them know the test is administered through the computer via the internet. The test is one hour, with 10 minutes of instructions. Lastly, inform the testing center that the Miami Dade College FBAT Department will the instructions to the proctor. If they agree to proctor the test, please fill in the information listed below and it back. 5 Step 2: The Miami Dade College FBAT Department will contact the proctor and verify that the proctor agreed to administer the FBAT Test, and that the testing center has the appropriate computer technology. Step 3: We will inform you to schedule with the proctor a date and time to take the FBAT test. The FBAT can only be taken Monday Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM eastern standard time. Step 4: the FBAT Department and inform us of the date and time of the test. Please note that the FBAT Department requires 72 hours advance notice to set the FBAT Test. Step 5: Report to the testing center on the date and time scheduled to complete the FBAT Test. The payment of $30.00 (Money Order, payable to Miami-Dade College) is to be given to the proctor prior to taking the FBAT test. Be sure to ask for a print out of your FBAT results. *Please note that the Miami Dade College FBAT Department sends the official FBAT test results electronically to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
